Chapter 36 Seclusion 3

After Yang Rai had stabilized the trees he now had a constant source of Rank 2 resources. Using this constant source he continued the process until he reached Rank 3 resources. Yang Rai had finished balancing out everything for the trees but he couldn't get the Rank 3's to turn into Rank 4 Resources for the life of him. It was a major problem because if he didn't get around this issue he would be stuck with disgustingly weak resources. And would likely not be able to continue his progression.

Yang Rai didn't want to come out of Seclusion after only a couple of years so he decided to maximize his Glyph count again. He multiplied the number of Sets in each location by 9. It took him 2 years to finish that. After he was done he let the young world spirits of his artifact continue to harvest the resources. It didn't really matter if they spoiled or not since they would in turn just become nutrients for the world. This was why the spirits did it since it wasn't just helping the master but also them.

Yang Rai came out of seclusion and immediately went to find Yue He. He needs to ask a rather embarrassing question. Though She would likely not understand why it was embarrassing.

"Protector Yue He, I'm glad I was able to get in touch with you. Please have some tea. I'd like to ask you something. I don't fully understand the difference between the 3rd Rank and 4th Rank. I was hoping for some guidance on this."

"I see but, why is it you need to know? You're not planning on promoting to a low rank are you?"

"No, you see I'm an artifact refiner and knowing the difference in the ranks of materials and worlds is something I'm intrigued by. Since we are here if you could also explain in detail the differences between low to mid and mid to high rank."

Yue He began to explain the differences between the ranks in depth. This went on for several days. There was a lot of information to go over. The key takeaways were that to go from low to mid rank the energy density alone wasn't enough. The Rank of the material also had to do with time. It was something like if a perfect ratio was met it would take 1:1 time:energy. However if one wanted to speed it along to say half the energy required would multiply by 8 times resulting in a .5:8 or 1:16 ratio. So it was EXTREMELY inefficient to do that. Hence the reason cultivators would rather wait and use Open Heaven Pills to give them a boost whenever needed.

The difference with rank 6 to rank 7 was even more vast. Not only was time and energy required for a much longer period of time but the rate the ratio would change was closer to 80 times as much energy for every halving so; 1:160. That was also the minimum difference. It could very well reach into; 1:2000, territory. It was just how it happened to be. The differences between mid to high rank were exceptionally higher than than low to mid. Furthermore the Rank 7s and beyond were capable of giving cultivators the ability to comprehend Divine Ability Manifestations. Which were already really rare.
