World War Nether (Midnights)

Walter, a young teen, relocated to Europe with family. Just under a year in the UK with his new girlfriend, Nicole, things go relatively smoothly until the course of their lives completely changed in a direction no one saw coming. They wake up in a mythological nightmare, saturated with mystery on every side. It was a place that was completely infested with every type of mythological beast, a place full of magic, a place full of imposters, a place without sun or moonlight, a place ravaged by an ongoing war, and no one was who they claimed to be. Walter gets caught up in the heat of the conflict, and somehow, HE IS THE CAUSE OF THE WAR THAT BEGAN 7 YEARS BEFORE HIS ARRIVAL. “How could this be? Who am I? Why is everyone after me?” Walter wondered, as he was being tossed around by different groups that all struggled to keep him in their custody. In less than a week of his arrival, he becomes the most wanted man in the whole dimension. Wanted by man, spirit and beast. Walter began considering what path to follow as those words, ‘The meaning of life is that it stops, and we only understand death after it has placed its hands on a loved one.’ rang through Walter's head. “Can I really get a second chance to relive?” At the end of his rope, Walter comes to the conclusion that it is man's innate nature to be evil, seeing that even in death, humans are still at war. But in the face of despair, Walter finds a reason to fight back!

The Commander vs Arjun, John and Frances

As the harpy got entangled in the tree, the Commander jumped to the ground with his chain in his hand. He turned, John and Arjun were on his left while Frances and Adeola were on his right.

"Four birds with one stone. Must be my lucky day." He said as he began swinging his chain.

His blade shone with deadly intent as he skillfully made whorls with them. As he swung, the whoosh sounds it made mimicked the blades of a chopper, cutting through the air and creating an impenetrable shield which also served as a deadly offense.

No one dared move closer. As he moved closer to John and Arjun, his blades made glistering sparks, making them both to take fearful steps backwards.

"We need a plan of attack." Arjun said.

"We have a plan, attack!" John said.

"Don't give me that Tony Stark shit!"

Frances took out her sickle, her heart pounding in her chest as she watched him move towards Arjun and John. There was harldy any way to get past his chains, and there was no way to defend themselves from it.

"What do we do? We need to help them."

"Stay here." Frances responded, taking steps towards him.

"Sis, no! He's too dangerous."

"We've got to help. Just relax, I'll be fine." She said, taking silent steps towards him.

"We have to strike at two different angles. No matter how fast he swings, they aren't perfect whorls. So I'll throw a dagar from this end and you fire from the other end." John told Arjun.

"Roger"

""Are you ready?"

"Yes,"

"In five- four- thr–"

Before he could complete his countdown, Jade rushed towards them, making them both jump backwards in separate directions. As they split, Jade charged towards Arjun.

"Arjun!" John yelled.

"Shit!" Arjun panicked as he unpreparedly shot his stone at the commander. The blade easily deflected it and before Arjun could pick another stone, the commander's blade cut his weapon into pieces while using the other end of his blade to deeply cut through his two hands, making him drop his stones. Before he could even shout, in the same breath, he swept his two legs off the ground and cut out his Achilles tendon, completely making Arjun immobile as the young kid tumbled to the ground and writhed in agony.

"You're the most dangerous, so you need to go out first." He said as he began stepping on Arjun.

"Leave that kid alone!" Frances yelled, as she charged at him.

"Seems you're eager to die." Jade said, turning to her, still swinging his chain.

As she charged mindlessly towards him, he increased the speed of his whorls in her direction, creating a louder whistling sound as the blades moved faster.

"I'm going to enjoy this." He said, smiling as he watched her jump towards him. His eyes following her movement as she got closer to his whirling blades.

"Now! John!" She yelled as her skin got closer to Jade's death spin. She shut her eyes, trusting in their plan.

Whoosh, a dagar moved past his defense from behind, heading directly at his neck.

Being aware of the danger, he stopped the spin of his blade and moved his neck out of the way without turning.

On lowering his chains, Frances got the chance to land a fatal blow, her sickle already being positioned in a striking position, fully raised up. With all her strength, she lowered it, targeting the commander's head.

At the same time, John was already inches behind Jade, the other dagger in his hand and ready to stab him at his back. It was a fast counter attack, and as they got inches closer, they were sure they had him cornered.

With no other choice, he dropped his chain to the ground and grabbed their hands, stopping their blades from touching him. They both struggled but his raw strength was too much for them to handle.

"This is how you repay my kindness?" He said to John.

"We aren't acquaintances, remember? Adeola now!"

Adeola gave a battle cry as she swung her sickle powerfully towards the commander with every ounce of strength she had left.

As she swung, veins popped out of her hands, neck and feet, fueled by adrenaline and a tincture of hope. Her determination to put Jade down and save her sister was undiluted as she released her sickle with so much power.

It flew towards his abdomen with great speed, carrying her death wish for Jade. Surely, this would get him, his two hands are occupied, John thought.

The commander assessed the danger. With his endless reserve of strength, he pushed John and Frances back, sending them away and crashing on their backs, right before he jumped to his feet, narrowly escaping the sickle, third attempt on him.

Still in the air, he turned his head to John, who was still on his back on the ground.

Something is wrong. Why is he smiling?Am I missing something? Jade wondered.

"Gotcha!" John whispered as the commander was still mid-air.

The commander looked forward, while still mid-air, behold, Arjun's hands were healed, and he had a second catapult, aiming directly at Jade who hadn't touched the ground yet.

Arjun's whole body was steaming this time, and his eyes seemed to glow in fury, reflecting nothing but his intent to take a life. His blood lust was never this high as the steam that left his body was more concentrated and erratic as they danced on their way up like living beings.

How didn't I notice this before? The commander worried.

As Arjun released his breath, steam seemed to rush out of his nostrils like a train has smoke coming out of its chimney.

He let the stone go, creating the loudest sonic boom they had ever heard. It was so powerful that it rattled even the trees, creating a mini quake as the projectile was launched.

The sheer power of this launch rivaled a missile. It had steam following it on its way almost as if the stone had an engine of its own.

The stone moved so fast that not even John could trace it as it drilled its way to Jade. It was targeted at no other place but Jade's chest, the exact place to stop any living thing, on earth or in hell, the heart.

On impact, it made a loud boom. As it did, smoke covered everywhere due to the blast, clogging all their visisons.

Adeola and Frances wondered how powerful Arjun's gift that was as they stared at the 10 year old who probably just took out the most powerful warrior in Jotunheim's history. He stood proud as he asked, "Is everyone okay?"

As the smoke gradually began to clear.

"That's probably one of the coolest shots I've ever seen." John commented.

"Oh please, we need to get going now that that's over. Where's his body? We'll need to keep him for later purp–"

"That wasn't half bad." A voice from the epicenter of the smoke thundered.

As the smoke cleared, Jade stood there in the midst of the steam, his two palms clapped against each other and the stone in between as blood thickly dripped from his palms.

"That almost bruised its way to my heart." Jade continued.

They all stood there, shocked and frightened. As they stared at him. Despite all their surprise attacks, they only succeeded in bruising his palms.

How powerful are the soldiers of Jotunheim? Adeola wondered as she began sweating profusely.
