World War Nether (Midnights)

Walter, a young teen, relocated to Europe with family. Just under a year in the UK with his new girlfriend, Nicole, things go relatively smoothly until the course of their lives completely changed in a direction no one saw coming. They wake up in a mythological nightmare, saturated with mystery on every side. It was a place that was completely infested with every type of mythological beast, a place full of magic, a place full of imposters, a place without sun or moonlight, a place ravaged by an ongoing war, and no one was who they claimed to be. Walter gets caught up in the heat of the conflict, and somehow, HE IS THE CAUSE OF THE WAR THAT BEGAN 7 YEARS BEFORE HIS ARRIVAL. “How could this be? Who am I? Why is everyone after me?” Walter wondered, as he was being tossed around by different groups that all struggled to keep him in their custody. In less than a week of his arrival, he becomes the most wanted man in the whole dimension. Wanted by man, spirit and beast. Walter began considering what path to follow as those words, ‘The meaning of life is that it stops, and we only understand death after it has placed its hands on a loved one.’ rang through Walter's head. “Can I really get a second chance to relive?” At the end of his rope, Walter comes to the conclusion that it is man's innate nature to be evil, seeing that even in death, humans are still at war. But in the face of despair, Walter finds a reason to fight back!

Dining discussions

Many days had passed since Walter's arrival and the bond between the King and his son only solidified. They had a lot to catch up on, and they really did. Walter ate so much and healed from all his injuries.

As the King and his trusted, established warriors sat at the dining, they savored every moment.  The laughter they had brightened up their conversations.

To everyone's surprise, King Will had a good sense of humor, even more than Walter. Nobody had seen the King even smirk in the past 7 years, but here he was, laughing and cracking jokes.

His eyes clearly glowed with overwhelming happiness and this brightened everyone else's hearts as they merrily clinked their forks and spoons against their plates, enjoying their meal.

"So when I met this fortune teller, right (giggle)…"Tanya said,  "He was known for always saying positive things…it was so crazy that if you asked him to see the fortune of someone who was already dead and had no future, he would tell you…(giggle) the dead man went to heaven (snort)." She said, unable to hold in her very contagious laughter, while holding her fork elegantly.

Even though what she was saying wasn't funny in the slightest, her very pretty face was enough to demand attention as everyone admired her as she spoke.

"So I decided to go, even though my dad strictly warned me not to. But I was just so eager to hear about my future…(guffaw)...so I snuck out right…(snort)....of the house with three of my friends. When I got there, he told them one after the other, 'you would do great in life', 'you would do great in sports', 'you would do good music.' So I was glad, cos it was my turn to do great in something…(guffaw).." she could barely hold it in anymore as she began wiping her tears with her tissue…

"I'm so sorry. ..I really am…(giggle)... so when it was my turn, the old bastard told me…(giggle)... he told me…(giggle)....he told me I would do coke!" She said, finally bursting into a deep throated guffaw.

"Hahaha" Walter said while the rest also let out their rather fake laughter, in order not to dampen their mood.

"That's not all though…" she said, cleaning her tears which flowed out even more.

"Tanya, I think that's enough for today." Jade said who was already frustrated half way into her joke.

"Wait wait…(snort)...I went by night and set his house ablaze…but I was caught and spent about 2 years in prison!" She said, continuing her untamed laughter but this time,  no one laughed along with her.

This is one messed up lady, Walter thought to himself.

"Walter, I would like you to start some training soon." Will whispered to him, "Very rigorous training, but before you begin, I would like you to watch what the training is about."

"Okay? Where do I watch it?"

"I'll take you there after the meal so you'll see how we train."

"Alright, I'm almost done." Walter said, rushing the remnants of food on his plate. "By the way, I haven't even informed you about the gift I got."

"You've already gotten a gift?"

"Yes, not too long ago."

"how long ago?"

"Let's say about 3 weeks ago."

"How was your first experience?"

"I can't really explain it. It came as a surprise, nobody saw it coming. I almost killed the transitionist who took me there."

"A transitionist took you to get a gift?" Will asked, clearly shocked.

"Yes she did."

"That's very surprising. When I just arrived, nobody wanted to tell me about gifts or how they're gotten. Was it the damsel under house arrest that took you to the gift house?"

"Yeah, she was the one."

"What did you give her in return…did she take your…"

"She didn't take anything from me, Dad?"

"Did you meet any spirit being in the gift house she took you to?"

"No, no one. Just a floating stone that I tried to take, but it vanished when I tried to."

"Hmm…that's quite weird. Everyone meets a spirit, and not only that, everyone is gifted a weapon, not a stone…this needs further investigation."The King said, stroking his beards.

"Jade, tell Walter what you saw when you were about to take your gift."

"Yes, my Lord. I had to fight an old and very tall man. He fought me with the long bladed chain that I use today. He big the shut out of me, almost to death. But while he hesitated to kill me, I was able to pull a fast one on him."

"Tanya, tell him yours."

"Oh. Yes Sir." She said, wiping the remnants of food from her lips. "Well, mine was also a bit strange. I walked into the room, everywhere became dark, and before I knew it, I was fighting multiple me's. They all wore different clothing, but they all held the same swords. They kept impaling me with it but I kept fighting until I couldn't anymore. The next thing I knew, I woke up with the sword in my hand."

"All these unique experiences have meanings. So we need to find out the meaning of yours…by the way, you haven't told me what happened in your first manifestation?" Will said, still stroking his beards.

" I can't remember much, Dad. All I remember was that I exploded…kinda."

"You mean like a bomb?" Tanya asked.

"Something like that, but I wasn't hurt, but I hurt everything around me…kinda."

"That's pretty cool if you ask me." Jade added.

"I would really love to see this detonation of yours. Can you show me?" Will asked.

"I can show you, but I can't control it. I'll destroy your Palace if I try to show you."

Everyone was shocked and skeptical of this unique power of his. They all stared at his face to see if he was messing with them, but his face displayed his austerity.

"'Destroy the Palace' seems like a very powerful thing to say." Tanya said.

"My manifestation was why the transitionists' camouflage was exposed. It's no joke."

"You mean the explosion we saw from that location was your manifestation?" Jade asked, dropping his fork.

"Yes Sir, that was my first time too."

"Wow…and you don't know how to control it?"

"No I don't."

"Your Highness, we need to take this matter with urgency because if the Prince is saying what I think he is saying, he really can destroy our Palace,  and kill us all."

"Commander, the most mysterious part of all this is that only one of his eyes has turned blue. What type of power would he manifest if he's fully here." The King said.

"That's so hot." Tanya said, looking into Walter's eyes with mischief on her mind.

"You need to show me this power of yours. Come, let's go to the field outside." King Will said as they walked out of the dining room. As they passed through the hallway,  Walter's attention was caught by someone in one of the rooms. He stopped all movements and peeped through the door. Adeola was nestled in a large cozy chair with nothing, but a needle and thread to keep her company. From the rhythm of her hands, Walter could tell that she had just begun learning it. He watched her make all the wrong stitches, and could barely refrain from walking over to her and showing her the right way, just as his mother had taught him.

"Walter!" The King called, disrupting his focus, "We don't have all day. Let's go test this power of yours."

"Alright Dad, I'm coming."
