Chapter 6: Human? Wolf? Lycan? Werewolf?

I lugged the travel bag up the final uphill stretch to my laboratory, huffing and puffing in the process as I tried catching my breath. How did the light bag gradually grow in weight?

"It has to be magic." I muttered to myself, knowing that the logical side of my brain is denying that fact and pointing out that I was out of stamina due to my unhealthy lifestyle and lack of exercise.

"Agh! Dammit! Sometimes I wish my gadgets would work and that I could just build a teleport machine!" I wailed as I pouted.

I was brought back to the thought of the time when I last made a "teleporting device". It worked as I expected. But the final result... The gadget did manage to move the object. The problem lies in the outcome of the object that was teleported.

At the time, I had used a book, apple and a pen. The book ended up in shreds. The apple was smashed to smitterins. The pen looked like it imploded as the walls were soaked in black. If I had gone and used the gadget first.... thinking about it sent shivers up my spine.

However, it was year 20XX. Teleportation device do exist. But! I didn't want to buy those commercialised versions! Imagine. Wouldn't you feel a sense of accomplishment if you were able to do it with your own two hands?!

...

...

...

Don't look at me like that! I just didn't want to use that device because... because... my junior made it! Can you imagine how frustrated and embarrassing it is to use something your junior could craft and you couldn't?! I can imagine him snickering away as he looked at the formula for my gadget and calling it rubbish!

"Ah. That's enough monologue here. I'm just going to... climb this hill and laze on the sofa when I get back. I know Aries would have made me another cup of milk, what with his worry wart behaviour." I mumbled to myself as I finally decide to ascend the hill.

"I'm back~~" I called out as I dumped Aries' travel bag on the floor, shutting the door behind me as I fell to the entrance way.

Huh? Why is the place so dark? It's so quiet as well... Is Aries not here?

"A-Aries?" I called out shakily as I got off the floor and headed towards the living room.

The sound of silence was terrifying. The darkness somehow heightened my senses to hear the silence even more. I know that made no sense but I'm panicking alright?!

"A-Aries?" I called out again as I headed towards the window that had the curtain drawn. Now that I looked at it closely, it seemed as if it had been pulled off.

"A-Aries?! Did you fall? Where are you? I-it's me." I called out again, as I felt the adrenaline beginning to pump.

Swoosh

"H-huh?"

Swaash

"W-who's there? Aries? Is that you? It's... it's not funny. Come out." I said as my voice began to tremble.

A sudden dark figure sat in the corner of the room. I gasped and stumbled backwards, falling on my butt as my eyes slowly adjusted to the dark.

It looked... it looked like a dog?

"What?" I blurted out as I frantically inched away from the figure.

Why is there a dog in here? My place is so high in the forest that I doubt any dog could easily get in here. Did it attack Aries?

"A-Aries! Where are you?! Are you okay?!" I called out in a panic as my back hit the sofa.

The dog began to move towards me, growing in size until I could see its face that had been illuminated by the moon.

Piercing blue eyes and a coat of majestic black. That is no dog. It's a wolf.

"N-no... Stay away! I don't like big animals! S-shoo! Shoo!" I panicked as I dug my pocket for something to toss at it.

"G-go! Fetch!" I yelled as I tossed the only thing I had in my pocket.

Seeing as the wolf turned to look at the item, I scrambled to my feet and rushed for the door. However, I had forgotten that I placed Aries' bag by the entryway and tripped over it, bumping my chin on the floor as I flipped and fell.

"OW!" I exclaimed as my eyes teared up.

Poor Aries. He lived only to be eaten by a wolf... It seems like we both will share the same fate today... I'm ready. Take me!

"Ai, ai, ai~

I'm your little butterfly.

Green, black and blue,

Make the colours in the sky

Ai, ai, ai~

I'm your little butterfly.

Green, black and blue,

Make the colours in the sky"

Huh? What? Why is that cringy so---....

I peeled my eyes open to see the wolf sitting in front of me holding the flip phone I had tossed earlier to a random corner of the room. It seemed as if it bit down on a button on the keypad and that song just played.

"You... aren't going to kill me?" I asked as I stared at the wolf which eyes seemed to sparkle with excitement. I glanced at its tail and sure enough, it was thumping against the floor with excitement.

I sat myself upright properly as I reached for the phone and shut the music. The wolf suddenly growled at me, baring its fangs. I dropped the phone, the blood drained from my face as I moved as far back as I could and leaned against the door.

The wolf stepped closer to me, its teeth sharp and pointy. It seemed to glint in the faint moonlight. It was either the moonlight, the saliva that was pouring from its mouth ready to bite down on me or both!

Instead, the wolf padded over to the phone and pawed at it. The music played again and the wolf seemed to calm down, wagging it's tail excitedly once more like it had never threatened to bite me. It seemed to want me to throw the phone again so I did as it wanted and quickly grabbed the bag as it was distracted, rushing out of the door in a hurry.

I don't want to die in vain! I'll call for animal control later! Aries is definitely not injured. I can only hope that he isn't...

I turned around hoping that the wolf would not chase after me, but lo and behold. He was hot on my tracks.

"Hiiieeee! Why are you chasing me?! I'm just bones! I'm not tasty at all! Go awayyy!" I yelled out in tears as the wolf chased me with the song playing so loudly. I've never thought I would find a day where Butterfly by Smile would sound so ominous.

Jesus! Buddha! Zeus! Why is it still chasing me?! I beg of you lot! Save me! Send a divine representative or something! This wolf is forcing me to exercise even more extremely than what Aries had ever forced me to! My stamina is practically 0 and it's right on my heel!

So in this chapter I had to debate with my friends on which song to choose for that scene.

I did send them a picture with no context of Aiyaiyai I'm a little butterfly but I did not expect to really write it inside the story. Hahahaha!

So we had a choice of three songs, Butterfly by Smile, Caramalldansen by Caramell or Tunak Tunak Tun by Daler Mehndi.

They suggested Tunak Tunak Tun because I recommended it to them before. But Butterfly won by a landslide so.
