Chapter 36
Shay had waited with the few men allocated to her while some of them entered the passage she had used to escape from the castle previously.
After some time a soldier returned and signaled from just inside the passage that all was clear. Shay left her cover with the soldiers in tow and entered the passage.
They lit torches as they entered. The torches burned brightly and they made quick progress knowing that the way was clear. They reached the chamber where Shay had killed Josh. His body was gone making it clear that Maica’s soldiers knew about this room and the passage they had just come through. The soldiers became more cautious when Shay told them that the guards in the castle were aware of the passage. Shay felt sadness and guilt at seeing the place where she had left Josh but there was no time to mourn now.
She followed the soldier who led the way while the other soldiers followed her.
