I passed the garden and went directly to the hall. I was still shocked that I didn't notice when my shoulder bumped into someone.
A tall girl with black hair. "Who are you?" She asked.
My breath was still uneven as she saw me in this condition. She looked at my face, feeling like she found something wrong. "Are you okay?"
Her eyes were the same color as her hair. This girl was beautiful. But there's something about her that I found familiar, only I couldn't recall meeting her somewhere.
"What's wrong, Stella?" Her friend came from behind. She was also a beautiful girl with her red hair flowing to her hip.
The girl looked at me from head to toe. And when she observed how vulgar my dress was, her face turned scornful.
She even didn't try to lower her voice when she threw the insult. "Come on Stella, let's go. People like her always think every place is a brothel."
"Don't do that Rebecca." The tall girl put a thin smile on her face as she dragged her friend away, who was still bickering about me.
I could only stand when those awful words reached my ears. Beating them up would not bring me any good.
My emotions were so mixed up and I didn't even know what to do. I looked at my back and was glad Conrad didn't follow me here.
I'd fought so many wolves in the past ten years. But no one. Not even one could be compared with Conrad. He was so strong that my power was so useless in front of him. I didn't stand a chance, even just a bit.
But not even that. There's also one thing that was more dangerous. It was his scent. His scent was so strong that my heart couldn't do anything but yearn to submit.
This is crazy. He would never be my fated mate. This must because Conrad was the Alpha heir of the pack. His energy was just so dominant.
After calming myself, I then went back inside the room and continued with my Job, delivering the food for every table. Acted like nothing had happened.
Some of them glanced at my neck, and some of them glanced at my body.
Keegan made me wear this thin pressed white dress, surely showing a line trace of what was under it. This was what made me so angry when Rupert delivered the bag to me. I didn't want to wear this. I didn't want to join this banquet. I didn't want to do anything they said.
Truth to be, I chose to kill someone, more than to be here. It worked better for me rather than parading myself as a slave.
A moment later, Conrad was back to the room with Keegan. They took the seats closer to each other.
Keegan gave a sign for me to come to him. I knew with every step that I took, many eyes were literally on me.
It's sad and not normal, but I was already past the uncomfortable feeling of being stared at. Thanks to Gerald for that.
I was coming to Keegan's left side, when Conrad was on his right. I chose his left side so I didn't have to stand in the middle between them.
As I got closer, I noticed some pairs of eyes were watching me from the back. It was the girls. The black haired tall girl and her friend, the red-haired one.
Both of them glared at me in silence as they were standing not far right behind Conrad and Keegan.
"Who is that, Keegan?" The question was coming from the man that sat in the center. It was a face that I'd not seen so long before. Verick Geargo, the Alpha of this pack.
Verick regarded me with his intense gaze. I didn't know if he remembered me. I saw him only once when I was still with Conrad.
"Father, It's a new slave I bought. Let me introduce her to you. Her name is Eliana." He stood up, taking one of my hands with him.
The urge to slap his hand was strong. But the most unbearable was the stern gaze Conrad gave me. He was looking at me like I was his prey.
And me, I could only lower my head, act like a good slave should be.
- Conrad -
I hate this. I hate that I loathed this woman, but I can't suppress the reality that I still care.
Even a minute after she was gone from my sight, I felt the guilt start to emerge. But I tapped it down. I tapped it down because I shouldn't be bothered with her presence.
Only that seeing the girl like this, wearing the slutty dress and receiving the lewd eyes from people here. I felt like I want to cover all of her with the tablecloth in front of me, and pulled out those eyes that were looking at her. I hate that this girl still made me feel something.
She was one of the reasons my mother got killed. I only hoped my father had already forgotten about her. He was a wise man, and the debt was being paid ten years ago.
Keegan continued his words. "Her name is Eliana, Father. There were circumstances where she doesn't have the last name with her right now." He said that while he had his eyes on me. "Tell me Father, what last name should I put for her."
It was bad enough when all of the men in the room were looking at her thin dress. But giving her a last name, did he just intend to give her a mate! Even some mistress carried her man last name. It's just a twisted way to confirm their ownership.
Even with her scar like that, she was beautiful. There's a piece of my mind that was wondering, why Eliana didn't meet her mate yet.
She was twenty five if I'm not wrong. And that age was old enough for a female wolf getting married and bearing children.
But I didn't smell the trace of other male wolf from her. Wolves that were already holding their mating ceremony, supposed to have their scent mixed. But Eliana's fragrance was still the same. Sweet and lovely like she was ten years ago.
And that was driving me insane.
