Chapter 43: Advent of Light and Darkness
“Don’t worry,” Reese responded. “I have already spoken to him and he said it was okay.”
“Just don’t come back too late, because Raul has a special project,” Menessa warned in a serious, but peaceful tone.
Reese had overheard Raul tell Menessa about the diamond search, because he had crouched below the library window to listen to conversations inside the room. After Menessa left the library, Reese had decided to phone him in order to get an update on what was going on.
“I notice that there is not really an abduction going on anymore,” Reese said to Menessa on the phone. “Your assistant must have informed you about the fact that I was listening in at the library window.”
“Yes, he told me,” Menessa responded. “But how did you know we were in the library?”
“Remember I told you about Raul’s pet bird?”
“Yes, you did,” Menessa responded, intrigued.
