Before getting into the story, let's clarify two things:
1. There was a mistake in yesterday's chapter. Being poor in English, I, Dongliu, typed out the song title letter by letter after looking it up, and accidentally copied "Brave Heart" as "Tokyo Hot." It has been corrected now. Ahem…
2. Regarding the update schedule, I've been on a streak of frequent updates for the past half month, pushing myself to the limit. Thankfully, I've managed to hold on until the end of the event.
Today there will be two chapters, as I need to catch my breath...
As for the promised bonus chapters for subscriptions and rewards mentioned in the "On Being Published" note, I believe I've more than fulfilled that commitment in this half month.
I'll take it slow for a couple of days, then consider increasing the update rate based on the actual situation.
Well, that's about it.
Now, onto the main story.
————————————
Morag is destroyed.
This abandoned planet, having survived the final battle of Avengers 4, ultimately did not escape the fierce spar between Clark and Captain Marvel.
Thus, it completely exits the stage of Marvel history.
The fight between Clark and Captain Marvel had a simple motive: a peak duel.
Once it was over, there were no lingering feelings. What remained were deep memories each left in the other's heart.
Nothing more.
After the battle, Captain Marvel did not return to Earth but continued her cosmic adventures. Clark, along with Xinghua, donned quantum battle suits the next day and "whooshed" back to his original timeline.
After a fulfilling journey through time and space, Clark's god-level BGM system was finally available again. It was time to try out the effect of "Move Heaven"! With this powerful BGM, Clark was convinced that his path to becoming a god was right before him!
For Clark, a traveler across dimensions, time spent in transit was meaningless. To Tony and the others, it was but a moment.
Seeing Clark return with someone from another timeline didn't surprise anyone. After introducing Xinghua, Ava took the initiative to help settle her into the Avengers' base.
Upon returning to his timeline, Clark immediately regained his immortality. The cosmic energies that had been impossible to purge were swiftly expelled from his body, which returned to its optimal condition.
However, more than his physical recovery, Clark was curious about the three BGMs rewarded by the system.
Especially interested in "Move Heaven," he planned to use it only when at his best to avoid wasting the opportunity.
After all, he had just fought Thanos and Captain Marvel; he needed some time to recover his physical strength.
Returning to his villa, Clark sat in meditation for an entire day until his strength was fully restored. Only then did he take the Power Stone from his shoulder, holding it solemnly in his palm while activating "Move Heaven."
Indeed, Clark chose to inherit the power within the Power Stone!
As the lively prelude played, Clark felt an indescribable connection with the Power Stone, instantly refreshing his understanding of power.
This new understanding, along with the music's progression, became increasingly clear. Cosmic energies began to rush toward Clark's villa in Los Angeles from all directions. The villa's defense systems, impenetrable even to flies, offered no resistance to this tangible energy influx.
The cosmic energy passed through the solid walls made of special metals and concrete, bulletproof glass that could withstand a couple of bomb blasts, and entered the room. It then penetrated the vibranium battle suit, designed to withstand direct attacks from artifacts, and flowed into Clark's body.
With the influx of cosmic energy, Clark's body underwent a fundamental transformation, evolving from a human towards a divine entity.
As the melodious flute played, bringing the music to a climax from the start, Clark's body floated in the air, entering a transcendent state of oblivion. His body and soul both received the inheritance of the cosmic power rules.
The duration of "Move Heaven" was only about 2:00 minutes, seemingly too short to complete the inheritance of the Power Stone's power.
Was it over before it even began?
Fortunately, the effect of this BGM ensured a perfect inheritance without time constraints. As long as the inheritance continued, the BGM would loop indefinitely until the process was complete or interrupted by an irresistible force.
Clark had prepared for such interruptions. Eilong and Captain America, two professional soldiers, were downstairs playing chess while ensuring no external disturbances reached him.
Time passed, and Clark's strength grew continuously throughout the process.
…
As Clark underwent the transformative blessing of the BGM, a spaceship wandering near Sakaar was en route to the Shi'ar Empire from Sakaar's region.
Inside the ship, a group of oddly shaped space pirates engaged in their favorite pastimes: drinking and fighting.
Seated at the main spot was an extremely ugly red alien, the leader of these cosmic marauders, known by the fearsome name "Killer Moface."
Killer Moface was in a bad mood, as terrible as his appearance.
Worse!
He had captured a strong warrior from the cosmos, rumored to be from the same race as Black Dwarf, Thanos's lieutenant. The warrior had strong defenses and immense strength, rivaling Killer Moface himself.
This was the type of merchandise the Grandmaster of Sakaar loved, willing to pay a high price for.
Catching this individual required the team's elite efforts, ultimately capturing him at the cost of two loyal subordinates.
Such losses were a significant blow to Killer Moface, even more severe than the previous capture of a self-proclaimed god, which hadn't resulted in such heavy losses.
If this happened a couple more times, Killer Moface would have to consider joining Yondu.
Even with such losses, a group of cosmic pirates could accept them. Since joining the pirate life, they knew they were risking their lives. Sacrifices were common and not worth mourning over.
The problem was, after capturing their target at great cost, they planned to sell him on Sakaar for a hefty sum. But upon arrival, they found the Grandmaster dead!
The new ruler was consolidating power and had no interest in gladiatorial games. The pirates' ship was nearly confiscated, and they barely escaped with their lives.
But now, they faced an even more severe problem.
With the Grandmaster gone and the self-proclaimed god they sold to Sakaar escaped, there was a concern: would the escapee seek revenge?
And what about the formidable individual who killed a cosmic elder like the Grandmaster? Would they come after them too?
Killer Moface felt as if there was no place left in the universe for them.
Under such pressure, he had to hide his worries to maintain morale, keeping up a smile, albeit an ugly one.
So frustrating!
"Boss!" Amid the pirates' laughter and Killer Moface's forced smiles, a slightly shorter green alien ran over, announcing, "We just received a distress signal that sounds promising!"
"Oh?" Killer Moface perked up, signaling for silence before casually asking the green messenger to play it.
"Alright, boss."
The green alien immediately brought out a prepared player and pressed play. A delicate female voice filled the cabin.
"I am Princess Hela of Centauri. Our
spaceship was attacked by cosmic pirates, and we're stranded on the desolate planet of Nubras. Who will save me?" The voice, pitiful and soft, conjured an image of a frail, terrified girl in the listeners' minds.
The voice continued, "My kingdom and countless people await me to purchase food with a large amount of credit points to save them. Who will save me... wuwuwu!"
Laughter erupted in the cabin after the recording ended.
"A merchant ship attacked by space pirates sends a distress signal, only to be received by another group of space pirates. How amusing."
"The woman's voice sounds enticing. It's been a while since we had some fun."
"Cut it out. Didn't you hear? There are a lot of credit points on her ship."
"Boss, your call!"
Hearing his subordinates' comments, Killer Moface's smile gradually became genuine.
Credit points to save a planet? Perhaps with this money, they could hide for a while, lying low before resurfacing to continue their piratical life.
With this thought, Killer Moface ordered, "Change course. Destination, Nubras Planet!"
