The start of final selection

"This place is surprisingly beautiful.."

A young man about 13 could be seen walking along a clear trail with a sword on the left side of his hip. He had black to red spiky hair that was kept in a ponytail long enough to reach his waist and two bangs resting upon his forehead.

The boy's skin was slightly pale, his eyes clouded and grey that would give others a sense of him being lost. Unlike other instances of someone his age, he gave off the vibe of being more mature than his actual age, if one was to describe him it would be charming and would surely catch any woman's eye in a few years.

Five years have already passed since Shin began being taught sun breathing, hinokami kagura, dance of the fire god, or whatever they call it. He is now 13 years old and could be seen walking towards a certain mountain covered in wisteria flowers.

Shin slightly frowned, reminiscing of his time with the Kamado family. He couldn't say they were bad per se but they left a bad taste in his mouth, they reminded him of a certain idiot who was always smiling.

It didn't take no more than 2 years to learn Sun breathing, the only reason he stayed any longer was because the family kept pestering him about it. He was going to refuse them but changed his mind after thinking over the cons and pros.

A free place to sleep and eat for free while also being a place to hunt demons since there was that village down the mountain. Tanjuro even helped get him recommended for Final Selection once he found out he wasn't officially part of the slayer corps. There was really no cons living with them other than being reminded of someone.

Learning Sun breathing or Hinokami kagura was simple yet torturous at the same time. Shin had to follow Tanjuros' movement and learn each of them. After that he was supposed to dance from sunset to sunrise.

He still remembered how tiresome it was on his first initial runs. He couldn't even dance for half an hour before running out of Stamina.

As time went on did the results really start to show. When a month passed he could perfectly perform the dance until sunrise. Tanjuro was astounded when he found out and decided to pat Shin's head for the rest of that day which he could do nothing but complain about.

Though it was all for not. The moment he tried using the forms nothing happened. No matter how many times he tried to perform them or danced the night away there were no results.

Needless to say Shin was left frustrated after finding out his effort was for nothing. He felt there was no point crying over spilled milk so he decided to just train Moon breathings' first form along with killing demons for experience.

Shin let out a sigh arriving at the base of Mt. Fujikasane. He began walking down a path with the wisteria trees in full bloom, the sight was beautiful for sure but Shin couldn't help but chuckle imagining his teacher or well, relative trying to avoid them at all cost.

After some time he came across a flight of stairs with two red pillars on each side and walked up them. The orientation grounds at the top had over twenty entrants. Shin's arrival didn't muster a bit of their attention towards him and this made him slightly happy.

Most of them seemed to be focused and waiting for the test to begin while others seemed quite anxious. Shin could tell just by how fast their hearts were beating.

He decided to walk near the side for now. He didn't give any attention to the others since there was no point when all he could see was vitals and organs.

Not long after two kids came out. They both looked identical with a blunt bob haircut with a fringe covering their eyebrows, the one on the right had black hair while the one on the left had white wearing wisteria hairpieces on opposite sides of their hair.

They both wore a purple kimono with flower patterns and a green obi, a lantern in hand.

"Greetings everyone..thank you all for joining the Final Selection." The black haired one said.

Their voices were quite calming to listen to. Everyone turned their heads towards them and gave the twins their utmost attention as they explained the Final Selection would proceed.

"There are a lot of demons held up on this mountain brought back by Demon Slayers, they are unable to leave." They continued.

"Because from the mountain foot to half the way up, there are a lot of demon repelling wisteria that bloom all year round." Said the white haired one.

"However, from here on out there are no wisteria. Only demons. If you can survive for seven days then you pass the Final Selection."

"Now let the Final Selection begin." They both ended it off together.

Everyone began walking forward up the mountain after hearing this. "I guess it's time.."

As Shin was about to take his first step he felt something or someone bump into him.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." A light voice was heard behind. He turned around and was greeted by the sight of what seemed like a young girl of a short stature around his age.

"It's alright, just be careful next time." After saying this Shin ran off into the mountain leaving the girl to her own devices.

Hope you enjoyed.
