Calix tried cooking up some excuses but, he didn't want to make a fool of himself further. He had a feeling Leslie would continue teasing him.
"Mama said Papa had bad dreams, really?"
Calliope's question relieved Calix. It seemed like Leslie told their daughter that. To save himself, he simply played along by nodding, "Yeah, Papa had bad dreams."
"Oh? What kind of..."
"Wow! The smell is so nice! What did your Grandpa Mo have made ah? Pancakes?"
Calix prevented Calliope from asking further by redirecting her attention to the breakfast menu. As expected, the little one was easily distracted by any mention of food.

The little turnip heads didn't feel sad much yesterday during the party but, reality slowly sank in after they woke up.
