LARA'S POV

"Oh, come on, Cam, it wasn't like that" I protested and he laughed. "Of course it was, you almost had a heart attack the moment you noticed the water was hotter than normal, and you take showers in water straight from hell." Cam was shocked, along with the rest of my family "Damn, I'm used to the water being colder. It's weird the water on the beach is so cold" I defended myself and Cam took my hand, intertwining our fingers "The weird thing is you don't jump when you get on the beach here"

"Nobody does it. We're used to that" my mother informed with a big smile on her face and I nodded, because that's true "Come on honey, don't be angry" my husband asked, giving me a kiss on the cheek and I couldn't stop the smile from appearing on my face again "I'm not" I assured "Are you sure?" Cameron asked with a big smile on his face. "Sure" I stated.

The rest of the dinner was all laughter, and although Sam knew almost nothing, I could have said he had known them all his life, and in this time that we have been together, he knew me perfectly because he passed me the candy I ate usually when he noticed I'm playing with my food instead of eating it, or making me toast the way I liked it.

When we finished dinner, Cameron accompanied us to my grandmother's house, which is where I would stay for a few days before returning, and when we arrived, everyone said goodbye to him, leaving us alone at the door of the house. "I hope you had a good time, love," he said with a small smile on his face. "I had a great time," I stated with a big smile on my face. "If you want, we can go out tomorrow," he said and I kept looking at him, because it's something I would love, so I nodded. "What time do you want me to pick you up? I know you're tired with everything you've done today and the flight."

I kept thinking, because it's true that I practically dead tired, but I don't know when I would wake up. "I don't know when I'll wake up, honestly," I said and his smile appeared on his face "Get a rest, beautiful," Cam said with a shy smile and playing with his hands, not having a clear idea what to do with them, so I approached him and gave him a kiss that I knew he wanted to give me. "Get a rest, darling," I said warmly a big smile on my face, entering the house and going up to my room but not before saying goodnight to my mother and grandmother.

As soon as I entered the room, I went to the balcony to see if I could see Cam, which I doubt I could since it had been a few minutes since he had left, but when I approach the railing, I see him sitting a little further away, a couple of meters from the house and with the prosthesis removed, which makes me quickly worry and my sleep disappear, deciding it's better to accompany him home to rest.

"A onde vas ahora? (Where are you going now?)" Grandma asked the moment she saw me coming down the stairs again. "I'm going to walk Cam home. I think he has forced too much," I informed her and she frowned. "Do you want me to come with you?" she asked in a worried tone and I denied, because it wasn't necessary. "Are you coming home?" She asked and I shrugged my shoulders, because honestly, I don't have the slightest idea "Probably not, but I'll let you know" I said and she smiled "Have a good time my girl" she said with a big smile "I will, you rest grandma. I love you" she responded with a big smile on my face "I love you too. You have a pair of crutches behind the door in case you need them" she said before I left and taking the crutches.

Once I left the house, I could see Cam still sitting on the floor, rubbing his leg, probably because it hurt. I left the crutches next to me and sat next to him, making him quickly look at me, surprise appearing in his eyes "Lara, what are you doing here? You should be resting," he protested, but deep down I knew he's happy I'm with him. "I wasn't going to leave you lying around like that. Also, I saw your leg hurts, so I decided I would walk you home" I responded, shrugging my shoulders as if it were nothing, but it was, because it hurt me to see him like that.

"It wasn't necessary," he replied and I denied, because it was necessary "Yes, it is, I wasn't going to leave you lying here as if nothing had happened" I pointed out and he smiled "If you want, we can leave now so you have time to return home and rest" my husband murmured and I smiled "We're going to stay here for as long as you need and then I'll think about whether to go back to grandma's house" I argued and he frowned "Do you want to stay home? But Carmela will worry about you if you don't show up at home" he said and I couldn't help but laugh "Grandma knows I won't be coming home and I told her I would let her know if I don't come back" I reported and he sighed. "Thank you for being here," he said with a small smile on his face "Don't thank me, you would do the same for me" I responded, knowing he would, in fact, he had already done it when I injured my knee years ago.

After about half an hour, Cam decided it's best for us to go home since his leg didn't hurt as much, or at least that's what he told me. I took his prosthesis, to which he protested and I pointed out that he couldn't take it on crutches, which made him laugh and raise his hands in the air momentarily agreeing with me. Almost an hour later, we arrived home, Cam took the keys and opened the door, letting me go in first, and even though the house was a bit messy, I didn't expect to see it so little messy, if Cam is known for anything, it's that he wasn't the most organized person in the world.

"I know it's a little messy and I'm thinking about tidying it up, seriously, I've just been a little busy" he informed and I denied, because in these years, I had gotten used to his mess "Don't worry, I thought it would be much worse than that, honestly" I responded and he laughed again "Come on, let's go upstairs so you can rest" I said and he frowned "Aren't you going to go home?" He asked and I smiled "First I will make sure you're well and comfortable and you don't have any injury to your leg" I informed and he smiled "It is not necessary, but I also know you won't change your mind, so you go first" he said pointing to the stairs.

I went up the stairs and went to the room, which was more organized than the rest of the house, I could almost swear it was the same as when I left. "The first weeks I lived with your sister and when she considered I could live on my own, I didn't want to sleep in our bed without you there too, so I practically slept on the couch" he informed and I smiled "You could have slept in the bed, but I know what you mean" I responded with a smile.

Cam went to his side of the bed and sat down, leaning back on the bed as I walked over to him, sat next to him, putting his leg on my lap "Lara, seriously, I'm fine. You should be resting" my husband protested and I denied it with a big smile on my face "I know, but I won't be able to do it until I make sure everything is fine" I pointed out and he nodded, knowing I'm not changing my mind.

I started to focus my gaze on his leg and I could see the skin was a little irritated, so I grabbed his t-shirt on the bed and dried the area, then I got up, went to the bathroom, grabbed a glass of water. and I went back to the room, moistened the shirt and ran it over his leg, knowing it would give him a little more relief.

When I finished, Cameron settled a little more on the bed and I ended up lying down next to him, leaving my head on his chest. "Are you sure you don't want to go home?" He asked in a worried tone and I turned around so I could see him. "Do you want me to leave?" I asked, raising an eyebrow "No, but the last thing I want is for you to feel uncomfortable" he responded "I would never feel uncomfortable with my husband if that's what worries you, that hasn't changed in these months" I informed him and he nodded "As you wish, now rest. I love you, Lara" he said and I got up, gave him a kiss and put my head back on his chest "I love you Cam" I said and falling asleep in a few seconds.

CAMERON'S POV

It didn't take long for Lara to fall asleep, which, considering she doesn't tend to fall asleep that quickly, I'm surprised she's doing it right now, but I guess the trip and pregnancy contribute to all of this. Without trying to move too much so as not to wake her, I picked up my phone and sent a message to Carmela telling her Lara had fallen asleep and I didn't want to wake her up in case she didn't fall asleep, to which she told me not to worry and to rest.

For once in recent times, I managed to sleep peacefully and with the assurance that everything would be fine with my wife in the future.
