Prologue: "Final Hour."

The air was thick with tension as the doomsday clock ticked down fast. This last desperate action would decide if this country would live on, or if it would die with the rest of the world. Rapid clicks could be heard as the nations top physicists tried to determine the path of the missile, but with nothing but a blurry outline in the northern sky to work with and almost all other systems offline, all was hopeless unless they could pull off a miracle. Alas, that miracle never came.

The head physicist of the R&D team, Edward Haynes, trembled in fear at what was to come. Would they all die, would no one be remembered, would the world become as lifeless as it was before dinosaurs came about? No, he couldn't worry about that. He pushed back his chair and held his head in his hands. He tried to keep himself calm.

Someone in the back sighed and got out of a chair, the chair creaking as they got up. Their steel-bottomed boots clacked against the tiled floor as they took a pause.

"Haynes. What progress have you and your team made on the trajectory." The man in the back finally spoke as the lights switched on. His blond hair and sea-blue eyes were the first things noticeable

Haynes responded with a shakey: "Major, I- Theres nothing I can do about the missile!" He eventually yelled as tears began to fall from his eyes and he rolled back from his chair, beginning to sob. "We're all doomed!"

"GOD.... FUCKING DAMN IT HAYNES!" The major responded, kicking his chair over. "Inform the general or the president, we need to get everyone out of here ASAP. Private Morgan, get to the Mantis bay and get them ready to take off!" He finished barking out orders, and began rushing out of the control room as people panicked and began packing up their work.

He ran straight down the halls to the Mantis bay. He eventually skidded to a stop in front of a heavily armored soldier, standing at attention. 'An A.W.E,' He thought, 'Good, we need some troops.'

He stood rigid and spoke. "Soldier, you're coming with me." He pointed at the 7, or maybe even 8 foot tall block of armor, and ordered him to pack his things and grab a weapon, before heading with him to the Mantis bay.

After a solid 30 minutes of intermittent walking and running, with several scientists, physicists, and even the president of the United States running in front of them, they arrived at the Mantis bay.

He slightly marvelled at the sheer size of the thing. It stood at almost 14 feet tall with a downward facing tail for more control of the 4 Tri-rotors that spun so fast that it almost looked like they were stationary. The Major hesitantly steppe in and strapped himself down in one of the wall mounted seats before giving the order to take off, leaving many more to be trapped in the end of the world.

As they flew across the atlantic, Major Adam Aestas had plenty of time to marvel at the marvel of engineering flying directly for DC.

He began to think on how relations even got to be this bad, and he began to fall back into the day he last saw the Triarchs of the Pact. They all seemed confident, like nothing was about to go wrong, like everything was going to be ok for them. It filled him with hate, those bastards had this all planned out! It made him even more angry that he couldn't remember who had shot the first bullet, it might've been the commies, the US, or maybe even the multitude of terrorist organizations across the globe, He didn't even know who launched the first bomb.

He sighed and brushed his wheat-blonde hair back into it's position as he looked around. He noticed that the president was walking over to him, and turned to him.

"Mr President." Adam saluted, and continued to sit down as the president sat down beside him. Adam looked at the man and noticed he looked almost exactly like nixon, their president almost 220 years ago.

"Son, I want you to tell this code to this number." That was all the president said before handing him a phone and codes to something.

"Mr president, you understand the consequences of this action, correct?" Adam said, as the Mantis slowly began lowering it's altitude.

"I understand son, but this is the only course of action." The President sighed, and moved back to his seat.

Adam Gulped, and rang the number and licked his lips before spouting 5 sequences into the phone. After speaking those numbers, Adam held his head low and his eyes wide at the realization of what he had just done. Just then did the Mantis land at their destination.

Adam unbuckled himself and walked out as the smell of salt and oil assaulted his nose. He looked around rather confused, was this really their safe place from the nuclear holocaust? He stared at the oil rig before him, the symbol of Oracle Solutions was plastered it front of him as the other 4 Mantis's slowly landed, revealing troops and A.W.E armored soldiers. He looked at the singular hallway they were all about to head into.

He walked into the hallway, and was eventually guided into a room with several "Decontamination pods" scattered around. He absolutely didn't trust this, but it seemed to be the only way forward. He took a deep breath, and stepped into the oval-shaped pod in front of him, it felt cold and clammy, but he assumed it was part of the process. Everything went dark as his surroundings grew cold. he slowly began to stop thinking about it all as his consciousness switched off.

well, lets see how this goes!
