Chapter 59 David in trouble...

Ben took Eva to his house, she was asleep. He took her to bed, and covered her with a blanket, she opened her eyes and smiled, he kissed her forehead, and she slept calmly. He felt uncomfortable,

" you don't have any idea, what I am going through... uhh let's not think about it,"

He was going to change but his phone rang, he received a call from the emergency room,

" Sir, please come fast,"

" calm down and tell me, is it an emergency case, what is the situation?"

" sir, it's David sir, he fell from the stairs and hit his head,"

"What...!! what do you mean?"

"sir please come fast, he's bleeding so much"

"ok I'll be there in minutes, just try to stop bleeding"

Eva was asleep deeply so Ben left her there and wrote a note before, leaving.

"emergency case, need to go, I'll be back soon" in case she would get up,

He drove as fast as possible to reach the hospital and rushed to the ER, but David was already taken in for surgery, by Doctor John, Ben went inside to assist,

Ben was completely confused,

" he was fine yesterday, then how did he get injured"

John was observing the wound,

"see ben it doesn't look like one from falling, it's like someone hit him with a rod or something like that."

Ben observed it, and John was right,

"yes sir, it is, but how?"

"that we'll know when he wakes up, now let's finish this up", said John.

They finished the surgery and David was shifted to the ICU, he was under observation and was still unconscious. Ben instructed the interns to take care of him and left the hospital.

Eva was still sleeping at Ben's place. Ben returned to his house but he was still thinking about David, it was four in the morning so he slept on the sofa.

The next day morning Eva was shocked to see herself in Ben's house, she couldn't remember anything, she came out of the room and saw Ben sleeping on the sofa, she thought to herself

" my boyfriend is a gentleman, ...he never crossed the line,

but how did I get drunk....uhh, let's not think about it..."

She tried calling David but couldn't reach him, unaware of David's situation she thought that she can meet him after returning to the hospital.

She was hungry and went to fetch something to eat, she knows nothing about cooking but thought of giving it a try for Ben,

It was not even ten minutes, and Ben smelled something burning in his house and rushed to the kitchen, Eva was fighting a battle with an egg and a frying pan, it was burnt and his kitchen was filled with smoke..., the smoke alarm was triggered and it started pouring..., Eva was standing in the middle of the kitchen all wet but Ben was not angry at all but instead he started laughing, Eva was furious to see him laugh, he came near her and lifted her into his arms and kissed her, she was stunned,

" I never thought you would be this beautiful even when destroying my kitchen",

"put me down, Ben," she was blushing,

"I don't want to," he said hugging her close, she jumped from his arms and went to the bedroom, and shut the door, her heart was fluttering and she turned red of shy.

It was the first time Eva experienced something like this.

Ben was still chuckling, it was his first time too.

He took a long breath and then started cleaning the mess.

Eva took a bath and wore Ben's shirt, as her dress was all wet. She came out of the room, her head hanging down with shyness, she could hardly look at him. He was staring at her,

" my girl with my shirt, are you testing me Eva?"

"shut up Ben or I'll just leave without breakfast," she said angrily.

"ok... calm down, I'll stop, come and sit,"

He cooked breakfast for both of them, and they had it, he was hesitating to tell her about, David,

Eva started the conversation,

" do you have something to tell me?"

" Yesterday, I got a call from the hospital, I went for an emergency surgery, hmm...it was..."

Eva understood that Ben want to say something but, is hesitating.

"I am not a weak-minded girl Ben, just tell me what is it?"

Ben sighed,

" I went yesterday for David's surgery,"

she coughed out her food, and was shocked,

" What ...?, what happened to him? he was fine before we left then what?"

Ben continued,

" We don't know the exact reason, but I received a call, that he fell from the stairs, and I left in a hurry,"

"How could it be? is he fine now?is it serious?" she asked,

" he'll be fine, he needs some time to work normally again, it was just a flesh wound so he was safe but it could have ..."

" hoo....wait, can just falling from stairs cause this much damage, and why would he take stairs when our hospital is fully equipped with lifts and excavators, it's kind of fishy, isn't it?" said Eva

"hmm I felt that too, his wound looked different, it was like someone hit him from the back," said Ben.

They were discussing it then suddenly, Eva got a call, she was shocked...

Ben was confused, and couldn't wait to ask,

"who's that?"

Eva was about cry, but gave a fake smile and said,

" ok grandma, I'll be there"

Ben confusingly stared at her,

she disconnected the phone and said,

"We need to rush to the hospital, David's grandma is here to visit David and she wants to meet her granddaughter-in-law now,"

Ben was annoyed, he received a call, it was from David,

" So your dream of operating me is fulfilled,....now get back here, I have something to tell you I can't do that if my family is here",

"oh... thank God David you are fine, I'll be right there",

Ben and Eva rushed to the hospital, Eva went to her room to get changed, and also to get Era's coat.

Ben went to David,

" Are you fine now?" asked Ben

David was looking fine, so Ben was relieved.

" hmm ...I think so" David replied,

"do you remember what happened yesterday night, how did you get injured, did you fall from the stairs?" Ben asked restlessly,

David looked at him annoyingly,

" Who gave you the degree Ben, I just opened my eyes after the surgery, and you are interrogating me, take a breath, Ben, I called you

here to talk about this"

Ben sat down and was patiently waiting for him to talk.

David continued,

"yesterday night I wasn't able to meet the watchman, but instead I witnessed something very important for our investigation, I was very near to catching the culprit but someone hit me from the back and I collapsed," he closed his eyes,

Ben was speculating who that may be, in the meantime, Era came running, she held David's hand and was truly concerned, Ben noticed that it was not Eva but it was Era, so he went outside, to wait.

David was consoling Era, and wiping her tears,

"don't cry see I am fine now so, please don't cry," he said,

Era was so tense that, she was unable to talk anymore.

David's grandmother and his family entered the room, and she saw them emotionally attached, she was very happy that she went outside, so as not to disturb them, Era saw them and went to welcome them, his grandma hugged her and said,

" This is the love I always dream of for my child, thank you Eva I appreciate your love for my grandson...."

She turned back to David's parents and said,

" I don't know what you do, as soon as David recovers, I want them to get married, no more delay."

Era was shocked to hear that, but couldn't say a word, she knew that the one she is talking about is Eva, not her. David looked at her and tried to explain to Era, but she couldn't take it anymore, and removed the coat,

Eva was back again, but unaware of the situation there she started scolding David,

" Sir, you always tell me to walk properly and now you are here with an injury, is this what you call being alert",

David tried to tell her about his family but Eva didn't notice they kept babbling,

"What happened yesterday did you meet him, did he hit you, or you fell the stairs,"

David was annoyed, he said,

"Eva pay attention to the surroundings when you talk,"

she turned around saying,

" what? what surrounding?.."

and was shocked to find everybody staring at her surprisingly, ...
