Chapter-42 Collecting the pebbles...

Ben dropped Eva out side the gate, and went in, she turned back to get into the gate and saw Lara looking at her shockingly. Eva saw her and started pondering about the stories to make to convince her.

Lara was furious, and ran inside, Eva followed her and grabbed her hand and said, "Tell me what did you see and what did you understand? "

Lara was not willing to speak,

" fine then ..I thought... our friendship will be from bench to grave ...but after these ten years....you can't even trust me", Lara was so much touched by Eva's emotional talk, and hugged her tightly and started crying, "I am sorry Eva ...I am really..",

.....she suddenly pushed her away and said," wait why should I say sorry....you didn't even felt it necessary to inform me that you're going out, and you call yourself friend.... can you imagine how I felt?, how worried I was?",

Eva know that she was right, but Lara was a very simple minded, clumsy but trustable girl, she couldn't take huge things to her mind, that was the main reason , Eva always keeps things from her.

"ok I know it's my fault, I am sorry for that, but it was a last minute decision, so I couldn't tell you, and by the way I met him on my way, and he gave me a lift, any more questions," she said.

Lara smiled and said " no", they both went in ,holding hands. Eva wrote everything to Era, when she arrived, she was very happy and thought that Eva is really one of her kind. Lara called Eva to go to the hospital together, so Era removed the coat, Lara and Eva set off to go.

When they reached the hospital,there was a huge gathering in the lobby, Eva thought that there may be some emergency and emergencies involve blood, so she silently escaped from there, Lara went to see that, everyone were peering at some pictures of the phone and uttering some thing, Lara couldn't deduce anything and asked one of them, " what is it ? why is everyone Peering at phones, what happened?"

that girl said," you don't know, there is a hottest news in the internet, and some of our staffs are also involved, see",Lara was shocked to see Jenny's and Kate's photographs of the news, she turned around to find Eva but ,she vanished.

The director came there and shouted at them," Get back to your works it is a hospital not a zoo", they all dispersed.

David was desperate to find information about Suzie's case, he couldn't figure it out , how Era was connected to this case and what is this all about. Then suddenly his phone rang it was from hospital PCO booth, he picked it up, as there may be some emergency.

"Hello, who's that?", he asked,

a mysterious lady's voice spoke," hello sir , please don't ask who I am,and listen to me carefully, I know that you are investigating about that girl's case , but please be careful, it's not that simple, as it looks, do you remember your intern back then, Era, I warned her to be away from this but she didn't listen to me...sir I don't want you to get involved, but if you I can help you... with ,"

David was appalled, his hands were filled with sweats, he tried to concentrate, and said," What do you know about this, tell me every thing you know, please it will be a great help",

She continued," I know ,sir ,you are desperate but I don't want to die like Era, ..and I don't want you to risk your life either, I don't know all the details but Era caught something, and that costed her..., her life, she didn't tell me clearly but I am sure she wrote it somewhere, as it was her habit."

" but who are you how could I believe you?.." David tried asking her, but she disconnected the phone. He ran to the PCO but there was no one in it, not even around it.

David was befuddled, he was trying to convince himself to believe that lady's words....,in this confusion, he bumped into Eva , David lost his balance and was falling, Eva tried to grab him but instead fall on him...all around them were awestrucked, Eva got up first and helped him to get up ,

David frustratingly said, " you haven't learnt to walk properly",

Eva looked furiously, " it was you, who bumped into me this time, by the way where was your mind just now, I have been calling you, but you didn't respond,"

David grabbed her hand and took her along to Era's room to talk,

Eva asked ," where are we going sir? " but as usual, David kept silence, and Eva followed him calmly.

Whole hospital started gossiping about Eva and David, these rumours spread to everyone, even the authorities and her dad hear about that. It was another problem waiting for Eva.

David and Eva went to Era's room, she asked, impatiently ," what is it sir ,can you tell me now?,"

He looked very tensed and finally he spoke out,

" just now I got a call from the PCO of the hospital's lobby, it was a lady who knows Era's connection with Suzie's case, and why Era was attacked...but I don't know if we should believe her or not,"

" did you see her? she can be good help if we find her",Eva said excitedly,

David sighed and said, " no ... before I went there she left....and in that hurry I bumped into a pumpkin,"

Eva looked seriously at him, ..and said ," it's Hospital's lobby right just wait and watch,"

he concluded that she was thinking about checking CC TV cameras , and said," that is not a good idea, because that PCO is on the blank spot of the cameras , I thought about it, but it didn't work,"

Eva said ,"don't worry about that sir I have special cameras , with out any blank spot",

she left from there in a hurry," wait for me",

David was puzzled,

Eva ran to the reception, and asked a nurse there, who was her friend, she had a habit of observing things, not even a single fly can pass without her notice, they had a talk for a while and Eva returned to David.

He was still in a confused state, Eva came running and said, " got it..!! it was one of the nurse of ICU, her name is Lucy," she was smiling like a child and said ," see I told you, I have more accurate cameras to help me,"

He laughed at her look, and said " Ben is right , you do look like a bunny,"

Eva glared at him, and said ," I am striving here to collect all the pebbles around one by one running here and there, and you guys are making fun of me, what is this ...sir,."

He smiled and said, " ya ...sorry..but how did you find it ?",

" it's nothing, there is a nurse in the reception, she nags me, about my looks every day ,asking about every minute things, especially at day times she has nothing more to do...so she observe people, it's her habit ," said Eva sitting on the sofa.

David was still not convinced, " How can you be so sure that ,she is right?",

Eva answered him casually," well it is because, she said that Lucy was the only one , to use PCO today as her phone battery is dead so that means , it has to be her," she got up sighing and said ," I'll go meet her and let's see what she knows?"

David instantly said ," no , she clearly warned me that this matter is dangerous, I want you to be away from this",

" hmm..."she said annoyingly,

" yes I wanted to ask you something else, are you involved in the case of Jenny and others?",he asked seriously,

" which case sir?... What happened?....are they fine?" she asked with an innocent look,

but he continued,"I saw you going with them last night, ....you know if the committee didn't get involved, they could have been jailed and their licence could have been nullified, how could you....."

Eva interrupted him seriously," they started it ,I just ended it, ...you know how it is to be locked in a cold room for whole night,... helplessly and not only that , they tried to drug me and wanted to throw me on road, being drugged....you can't even imagine what they can do....you can ask Ben if you want",

" I know they are dangerous, and so I mean what I said, stay away from these things," he said, as if he is commanding an army.

Though Eva was not convinced, but she said," you look like Steve when you nag,"

"and who's that?",he asked,

she got up went to the door and then answered," my dear pet in my house, bye sir...." and ran away.

It wasn't a compliment but David smiled.

Eva said yes to David but her mind was full of crooked plans. She decided to change her intern duty.....
