"You are capable of doing good. I wish for you to live a life free of regret. Live strong, live happy. I do apologize that it came to this... I love you Marls." The last passage of his mother's last letter echoes in his mind. He can still envision the teardrops on the letter that is mixed with ink. Marls is a 19-year-old boy who lives a mediocre life. To change or not to change. His life is just beginning. An iron ingot has to go through hammer and forge in order to be a great sword. And so will be his life.

Uncertainty of The Future

"Don't worry too much." Prof Hitchson says.

"Remember what I said?"

He looks at Marls. His mucles are tense and his heart rate starts to increase.

"Marls!" Prof. Hitchson exclaims.

Marls instinctively looks at him.

"It has been so long since I felt this amount of pressure, dog"

"Erhm, it's professor Hitchson, but It's fine." He gives Marls a gentle pat on the back.

"Y-yes, professor, sorry."

The room is filled with the murmurings of the teachers. The room that was once cold starts to warm up. But between all of it, there is a bell ringing sound that captivates the ear. At first, it was faint, muffled. But it gets clearer, and louder. Those who noticed it starts to stay silent, quietly killing the mutters of the teachers.

Once it is completely silent, the ringing of the bell is followed by a strong thump. It is the sound of a thick sole hitting the floor. This sound causes the teachers to become tense, they seem to know what is coming. He looks around to see everybody sitting still, in contrast to how it was just a couple of seconds ago.

He takes a quick glance at the depressed man. He is not bothered. He keeps playing with his rubik's cube, and his eyes stay locked on the floor.

"The grand seer has arrived!!" A loud voice comes out.

The door opens, and it is clear that the ringing and clanging bells comes from this "seer" person. Once she finds her step to the podium, Marls sees a short old lady with a hunchback, wearing this star patterned purple robe that is long enough to touch the floor. Her hair is silver white, with a single bun on the back. Despite her clothes that seemingly gives her a much bigger volume, her face composition reveals that she is actually thinner, but despite looking vulnerable, something tells Marls that she is fit inside. The seer's eye is like a slit, but she forces her eyelids to raise just to have a clear view of Marls.

Marls is surprised by the sudden eye contact. He sees the seer smiling at him.

"We don't bite." The seer says.

"well some of us are, but most of us don't." The seer chuckles.

What is more striking is the lady behind her. She has been standing like a statue, but her eyes is focused straight. She has a straight thick long red hair that becomes more wavy as it goes to the edge. Her clothing is unlike the seer, she wears clothes that doesn't hinder movement. Her stature reminds Marls of a knight.

Probably because she is.. Marls thought.

"It is very pleasing for a human from the overworld to visit us." The seer looks towards Marls.

"But it is unfortunate that the circumstances has to be this way."

The room starts to be filled again with whispers.

"SILENCE!" The red haired lady yells. The room gasps, before it goes back to silence.

The seer turns towards the lady and caress her waist like a person taming a beast.

"Calm down Leya, calm down."

Leya looks at the seer, eyes still burning, but decides to sighs in response. After she confirms that she is more relaxed, the seer focus back towards her podium.

"As you know I have a vision." She focus back on Marls.

"Some considers this a blessing, some considers this a curse. But the truth is, it is a duty."

"One could not only sit back and see if they have been warned. If a person that sits on the watch tower saw an army approaching and didn't respond, who is at fault?"

Marls eyes looks forward towards the horizon. He starts to think that this is it. An execution. The seer smiles, but her smile slowly dims.

"Young lad, by now I am sure you know that you are a threat to this world."

Marls gulps.

"It pains me that after a long time, the first thing a human from overworld receives from us is a bad news."

"But if we don't take any action, the cost is us, and this world to receive the bad news. I sincerely hope you could understand this act of self defense."

Marls smiles. He looks towards the floor.

"The prophecy foretold that a tyrant would conquer the overworld. He achieved it. At once, he is at peace. But it is always the temptations of greed. His conquest does not stop when he discovers our land."

"But that could be changed."

"I believe that a person's heart is made out a lot of beautiful things. And one of that beauty is none other than the willingness to change." She glances over to Prof. Hitchson for a second to smile and nods in respect, which Prof. Hitchson responds with another nod.

"That is what I believe in you young lad."

Marls looks toward the seer. He does not expect this. The sun light starts to slip through and cast itself to the floor, giving this dim warm feeling that paints the room. Marls eyes glimmer with hope, a second chance.

THUMP!

Loud gasps comes out from the teachers.

"Seer..?!" Leya yells

The seer is kneeling. Her face tenses, her eyelids stretches open, and her pupil shrinks. Her mouths gapes open. She is watching an abomination.

"The seer has a vision!" One of the teacher yells.

The seer starts to sobs. Her face wrinkles even more than it should be. She yells in pain, before she drops her head to the ground.

Leya is standing. Her eyes quickly glances at Marls, checking for any correlation with him, before she glances back towards the seer. Leya gasps after seing what she sees.

"Blood..!"

She immediately grabs the seer up, the seer's eyes red with blood. But the seer pushes Leya away, while she wails as if she is mourning a dead son. Albeit stronger, Leya lets her move past her. The seer walks upwards and unto where Marls is sitting. Her arm is stretched as if it is trying to grab a man by the collar, her eyes is blood shot, tears of blood runs down her cheeks.

"Young lad! Young lad!" The seer yells.

"Young lad! Hear me, oh young lad!" She moves past Prof. Hitchson and grabs Marls by his colar. Prof. Hitchson looks shocked, seeing the reaction of the seer.

"You must stop this! You must stop this!" She wails in pain, she kneels in front of Marls, begging him.

The teachers immediately stands up and rushes over, but once the seer notices their intent, she immediately screams.

"Get away! Get away!"

Some of the teacher still forces themselves to interfere, but the red haired lady stops them.

"I swear you and your offspring will be damned if you kill our only hope!" The seer yells as strong as she could towards the group of teachers, before her eyes shuts down, and she drops to the ground.
