When the Reader Descends Into the Novel With a System

Darkness and light. Two extremes coexisting. A law of equivalent exchange, balancing the world. Where there is light, there must be darkness. And as such, where there is darkness, there must be light. That is the rule of the world my child, and you are the one balancing on the fine line, stuck in between. An anomaly. An abomination. Where you go, death and destruction follow. That will be your fate. You are the one and only son of the darkness, mothered by the daughter of the light. What path will you walk my child? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the story of Kurayami Akimitsu, a contradiction of light and darkness, and I, who reincarnated into his body. In this world based off a novel I had read, what will happen with the addition of me, an unknown entity? Who knows everything about the future of this world. Will I survive with this identity? Only time will tell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently on HIATUS. This is my WSA 2022 submission. A/N: So this is going to be the second novel that I will seriously write, with an upload rate of 7 chapters a week. My inspirations for this novel were TAPOV (The Author's POV) and DWTN (Dance With the Nightingale) but the world building will be extremely different and the backstory of the MC will be unique also. The ranking system will be the same, but it's the same ranking system across a lot of novels, so I think it's okay for me to use? There also might be cliches like an academy and an auction, but again, I'll make it as different from the norm as possible. I hope that this will be a refreshing take on the "mob character becoming overpowered genre" for you guys. Release Rate: Check the schedule Chapter Length: 1000-1500 words per chapter My chapters are edited by myself, so forgive me if I make any mistakes. Just comment if there is a mistake anywhere. The first 10 or so chapters are filled with world building stuff, so I hope you'll stick with it and read it as I tried to make it all original. After the first 10, the story should pick up and the action will start, so please don't drop it after only reading a few chapters. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/8ePQESSSHT Finally, as always, thanks for reading! All names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this story are purely fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, or products are intended. Note: The cover doesn't belong to me. If you are the original owner and want me to take it down, please leave a comment on my latest chapter.

The Reveal (6) - 80

Yes, it was "Second Life Murim Ranker", which was actually one of the novels who's synchronization rate had actually gone up before.

Remember? Back when I was on that train?

Anyways, this was probably an opportunity that I wouldn't be able to see again in a while, and I knew that I had to take it, no matter the cost.

So, that meant pushing many of my reconciliation plans till after I finished "Second Life Murim Ranker" (SLMR).

Also, I literally shook every time I thought about Elvira and Primrose, so, I didn't think that I could have a "civil" conversation with them anytime soon.

Yeah, I definitely wasn't just running away from my problems...

Well, back to the the topic of SLMR, I knew that if I could spend more than ten years there, I would definitely be stronger than the rest of the cast when I returned.

So, it was a no-brainer that I decided to accept the system's offer, and would go to the world of SLMR, for the second time.

//What's this? I've just woken up, and this is the first thing I see?

'Well, shit.'

...

(A/N: Zenithal, well, the below is inspired by you.)

<Namida's POV>

Nii-san...

He was still oblivious to everything in this world.

Why couldn't he see that I loved him?

I had made it so obvious, but he had been none the wiser.

Back then, before his death...

Why did he have to leave at that moment?

WHY?!!!!

Slamming the desk in front of my in frustration, I accidentally broke it in half.

Staring, disgusted at everything, I quickly left my dorm room and started climbing the mountains.

Breathing in the air that kept getting thinner and thinner, I felt my mind clearing as I sorted out my thoughts.

'But, if he wants for it to stay this way...'

After all, Nee-san was a smart person, and that wasn't an understatement, so he should have realized by now.

'But then... why? JUST TELL ME IF YOU LOVE ME OR NOT GODDAMNIT!'

Once again taking my anger out on my surroundings, I retracted my fist only to find that I had turned a boulder into fine powder.

Cradling my hurt fist against my chest, I felt tears streaming down my cheeks as I turned around and looked back at the scenery of the L bordered by the snowy mountains, the gray sky offering a grim backdrop to everything, mirroring the state of the academy itself.

Feeling the wind whipping my hair from behind me, it suddenly gusted and blew my tears off my face.

I watched as the droplets of water flew through the air for a second before quickly descending to the ground.

As my eyes moistened up again, I wiped them madly with my fisted hands this time, burning holes in the world around me.

As the tears kept streaming down, even as I tried to wipe them all away, I couldn't, as, whether they were from my sadness, my pain, or the cold wind hitting my eyes, I only knew one thing.

'Maybe, if I told him about that... Then maybe, maybe he could look at me as something else, something more than his beloved sister?'

Hardening my heart, my eyes quickly regained their calm as I looked down on the academy that I had created with my bare hands.

'You two, yes, you guys will be the first to go.'

Then, slamming my foot of the side of the slope, I launched myself at the dormitories.

Yet, as the girl left, the girl that couldn't even understand her own heart, she never noticed the small remainder of her tears that had suddenly been jerked out of her eyes at that moment.

And, as they fell to the ground, something peculiar occurred.

Those tears, they suddenly disappeared.

But then, as if by magic, they reappeared in the hands of a short figure a few kilometers away, already bottled up in a vial.

The figure frowned as he looked at the tears, before stopping, as if listening to something.

Yet, nothing special happened afterwards, as the figure continued walking along the path.

Well, he did leave some words behind, words that were quickly lost to the unbearable silence around him.

"Namida, please don't do anything stupid."

(A/N: Welp, that was my first time writing yandere, so, do you guy's have any criticisms or complaints? If it's really bad, I'll just rewrite the entire scene. Just tell me what y'all think I need to do in the future to make it better!)

...

A Few Hours Earlier:

<Ruiki's POV>

//What's this? I've just woken up, and this is the first thing I see?

//Bella?

//That's my name!

//You're back!

//And you've been keeping many, many secrets from me. All of you...

//Sorry...

//But it's fine now, cause I know everything, hehehe...

Hearing this in my head, I immediately sorted through my memories, just to check if I had ever done something "weird" in my life.

Luckily, I had been a good boy my entire life, although, I guess that reading for my whole life was kind of boring to be honest.

//Why the hell was your life so boring?

That was brutal.

//It was a mental problem, don't blame me!

"..."

//No answer? I thought you were an AI chip? Can't you beat me in a single argument?

"..."

//...I'm sorry...

"..."

//Come on, don't do me like that. You know I simp over girls...

"..."

//Hmph! If you're not gonna talk to me, then I won't talk to you either!

So, in the end, she won.

I mean, now that she knew what my buttons where, and how to use them in the best way, well, it was obvious that she was just pushing my buttons.

She was one of us four after all, and she was the FL in The General Games, so, considering the way that she was raised up, it was kind of natural for her to be manipulating me right now.

But it wasn't like I was going to fall for it either. I had just simply yielded for the time being, nothing more, nothing less.

Although, now, I was wondering how she had taken the news of, well, everything.

Because, now that she was in my brain, naturally, she could see everything that I experienced, and knew everything about me...

...Including the fact that her world had just been a world in a novel, and that we were still currently in the world of a novel...

//I'm doing fine, no thanks to you.

...but she was still as sassy as ever.

//You ever get tired of putting on that sassy act?

//No, and it's not an act.

//Sure...

//It isn't.

"..."

//It really isn't!

//Hah! Payback!

Then, she herself started fuming, as she realized I had just pushed her buttons.

This continued on for a while, this back and forth bantar, before I suddenly asked something.

//So, what can you do? What are your abilities?

2/10 for today.

Thanks for reading!
