Chapter 3

Emma's POV

I finished my work and the next second, my head felt dizzy and heavy. When I turned around, my vision went dark, and I fell heavily.

I was about to hit the ground...

What the hell? So awkward!

But my waist was embraced by a steady hand. His minty breath poured into my nostrils and I was fascinated.

"You're so hot. Do you have a fever?" Hector looked down at me in his arms with concern on his usually cold face.

"None of your business!" I stabilized my center of gravity, gritted my teeth, and tried to break free from his arms. Since we had rejected each other, I had to leave resolutely. I didn't want to appear weak and make him feel pity for me. However, my body was limp, and I had no strength at all. Hector hugged me tightly.

"Call the Pack Doctor, now!"

"What are you doing? Let me go! I'm a werewolf, I'll heal soon." I was uncomfortable and embarrassed and kept struggling.

"You're a were-less. You don't have our strong self-healing power. I know it."

"We had rejected each other."

"During the cooling-off period, you are still my Luna." His voice was determined and didn't give me any chance to refuse.

Seeing that we were about to leave, Thea was anxious. This was not what she wanted. She supported her waist and shouted from behind, pretending to be delicate. "Hector, wait for me. It's not convenient for me to walk with a big belly."

"Stay there. I'll let Liam pick you up." After Hector finished speaking, he looked at me and said in a deep voice, "Emma is sick. I can't leave her alone."

I rolled my eyes. He had a pregnant mistress and rejected me, but now he pretended to love me? He and Thea were really a perfect match.

I would play with them. I stopped struggling and hugged Hector's neck, blinking my eyes. "Thank you, my ex-mate."

Hector's face turned dark all of a sudden. Thea was angry. When we arrived at the pack hospital, Hector accompanied the doctor to do a blood test on me.

The test results came out soon.

"Virus infection concurrent with a bacterial infection. Luna will probably die if it's discovered later."

After reading the examination report, the doctor pushed his glasses and said, "Luna is ill like this. She shouldn't wear so few clothes."

Hector was about to explain, but I was one step ahead of him and said, "Doctor, I'm not your Luna anymore. After I married your alpha, I didn't live a good life. He cheated on me and rejected me unilaterally, but I don't blame him. He's handsome, and I did it voluntarily."

Hector was stunned. The doctor was shocked. Looking at Hector and me, he sighed again and again. "After taking this bottle of IV and medicine, Miss Green, you'll be fine."

The pack doctor quickly left. In the room, only Hector and I were left, and the atmosphere suddenly became tense. During the four years of marriage, we rarely stayed together.

Hector put his hands in his pockets and looked at me. "Stop playing?"

I coughed in embarrassment. "Yeah."

"You had a fever. Why didn't you call me?"

My face was red, looking pitiful, which made him feel a little distressed. "Since you want to reject me, it doesn't make much sense to reschedule."

The high fever made me weak. I was nostalgic for Hector's gentleness, but I knew that I could not indulge in it. "Thank you. I'm fine. You can go. Your lover is waiting for you."

These words seemed to wake up Hector a bit.

"Alright then, I'll go." A tall figure walked into the ward.

"Emma, why are you in the…" Oscar's voice stopped abruptly when he found that Hector was still in the ward. He was looking at Hector. And Hector was looking at him too.

Hector's POV

When the man showed up, Rex turned excited. "Hector, fight him. He's too close to our mate!"

"Ex-mate. Calm down." I corrected Rex. "You know each other?" I looked at Emma and asked in a cold voice.

Oscar was a well-known werewolf in the city, he had alpha blood, he's the son of the White Mountain Pack's Alpha. The White Mountain Pack was one of the eight major packs in the city. And Emma was a wolf-less. They were not from the same world at all. Why did these two know each other?

"Well…" Emma put her hands on her forehead in embarrassment.

She was speechless. How dare she be speechless? Was she hiding something about a strange man from me?

"Emma is my idol!" Holding a bouquet of sunflowers, Oscar walked towards Emma enthusiastically and said to Emma with a smile, "You didn't know. Back then, I was a famous figure in our school, and many people were chasing her. I am the most loyal one among my countless admirers!"

"Today is the day for her to be available for a second chance mate. I must be the first to congratulate her, right?"

After Oscar finished speaking, he solemnly and affectionately handed the bouquet to Emma. "Emma, this is for you. I remember that it's your favorite flower. The language of the flower is turning against the wind, right?I don't think there's any flower that suits you better."

Emma gladly accepted the bouquet. She put it in front of her nose and smelled it. "This is the first time I've received flowers in the four years since I got married. It's fragrant."

"I'll give it to you every day from now on!"

Hearing that, I tried to act normal, but I knew my face turned colder.

Oscar looked at me and teased, "Alpha Saunders, I sincerely thank you for giving Emma freedom. From now on, there will be another legend in Nuyork."

I ignored him. He was Marvin Johnson's pampered son. I didn't need to take him seriously.

The sunflowers reflected Emma's delicate face in a particularly charming way. I was a little dazed and said softly, "I didn't know that you like sunflowers."

Emma sneered, "There are many things you don't know. Oscar, put the flowers in the vase."

"Okay." Oscar was busy. I became restless.

What was the relationship between these two? Oscar had always been known for his rebelliousness. Why was he so humble in front of Emma?

Did Emma... cheat on me?

Emma's POV

I liked sunflowers. However, the flower language was "I only love you," just like my love for Hector. When I saw him for the first time, even though I couldn't sense a mate, I fell in love with him.

But now, it was time to end. I couldn't only love him for the rest of my life, right?

After Oscar put the flowers in the vase, Hector was still here.

"Alpha Saunders, is there anything else?" I looked at Hector politely with a smile. My implication was, why didn't you leave?

Hector's face became darker, and he said, "During the cooling-off period, you're still a married woman, so be careful."

"I know. I'm not like you." Hector was mad at me, but he didn't refute and left coldly.

As soon as he left, Oscar started laughing. "Emma, did you see? I've seen him on countless occasions in the past four years, but this is the first time I've seen him with a different expression on his cold face. It's so funny. Emma, you're awesome!"

I smiled without saying anything. Hector and I were finished, and I didn't want to waste any more time on him.

"Stop laughing. Give me, now." I said to Oscar, with expectation.
