Chapter 74: Awkward

Luna arrived at the Lee mansion shortly before 9AM, she needed time to set up the polygraph machine. Unlike the equipment they used at the Lee Group building that day, the machine she brought was smaller and had a built-in monitor.

Luna alighted from the car and a butler greeted her at the door. He helped her bring the equipment inside and she began to set everything up. By the time she finished, there was still ten minutes to go. She asked the butler who helped if he had seen President Lee. The man explained that he was still working in his study and had given orders not to be disturbed. Luna naturally felt annoyed. Apparently, her brother was not taking the situation seriously. Swallowing her pride, Luna went to start the polygraph herself. When she stood in front of the bookshelf, she was a little confused to see that there were no guards. Maybe her brother was already talking to Mina inside? Thinking no more about it, Luna opened the door.

----

Mina had been standing at the foot of the bed when the door opened. She was surprised by the sudden visitor and her heart sank a little at the thought that it might be President Lee. She breathed out a sigh of relief when she saw it was Miss Luna. Before the doors opened Mina had been lost in deep thought. She didn't even know how she ended up where she was standing.

Luna noticed the nervous look on Mina's face. The girl was startled by her arrival, it was clear. Luna wanted to speak but her words were lost. Mina was wearing a long pink dress that hugged her curves. The dress being fitted was not shocking, but the fact that it was sheer made Luna worry.

"Miss Luna, are you here for me?" Mina asked. She was wearing a bright smile on her face and must not have realized how she was dressed.

Just as Luna was about to speak, her brother entered the room. Mina's smile melted and she turned her head to avoid looking at the man. Luna noticed the reaction but still could not bring herself to speak.

Unsure of why the atmosphere was so awkward, President Lee looked at Mina and his eyes bulged. He could see the outline of her beautiful body and he could even see the shape of the little black underwear she was wearing. The dress was too tight at the top and he felt as if her chest were staring at him. Ian swallowed hard and shifted his gaze to his sister who was looking at him scornfully.

"Brother, let's give Mina some time to change," she said, and Ian followed his sister out of the room. Shutting the door behind her, Luna let loose.

"Ian! What the hell is wrong with you? What is she wearing?"

"Me? I did not give her those clothes. I haven't even seen her in them!" Ian retorted. His statement was not exactly true, he had seen her through the cameras, but he had not realized the dress was so revealing. What was that Tara girl thinking?' He thought.

"Brother, are you trying to tell me that someone else dressed your prisoner up like a concubine?" Ian was left speechless.

"Hey, what do you think of your brother? Do you think I am a pervert? I knew she was given something to wear, but I did not know it was sheer. Do you think I watched her change?" That made sense to Luna, but her brother's expression seemed to be hiding something. She had also seen how he was looking at Mina just now. She felt that if she were not in the room, he would not have stopped looking.

"Ian, you're being weird. You never bicker with me. What is with you lately?" she asked.

"I'm not sure," Ian answered honestly and he cast his gaze downward. The action caught his sister by surprise.

"Ian, are you… Do you think you're in love?" Ian jerked his head up. Thinking her brother was conflicted about his feelings for Lisa and how he was going to tell her about Mina, Luna spoke. "Ian, sometimes, you realize your true feelings for a person at the wrong time. If she loves you too, she will eventually come around."

This advice comforted Ian. Was that all that it took? Could he really salvage the relationship?

The brother and sister did not know that they were on the same page of a different book.

----

Mina did not know why Luna asked her to change. In actuality she had only planned on sleeping in that dress, but the material was very soft, so she was reluctant. She did not realize that the light shining into the room from outside had shone through the thin material of the dress, but Because she did not want to drag the situation out any longer, she quickly switched into an oversized tan sweater and faded light blue jeans. The hem of the pant was too short, so Mina rolled them up before slipping her feet into her hospital slippers. She sat at the edge of the bed and patiently waited for the siblings to return. If Luna was here, it was probably time for her to be given the polygraph and soon this entire fiasco would come to an end.

----

When Luna opened the door this time, she did so slowly. Mina had already changed and the sweater she had on made her appearance more frail than usual. It was true that she had lost weight, but one could only tell if they had seen her previously.

"Mina, do you know why I am here?" Luna asked. Mina nodded her head. She lacked the strength to speak. It had not escaped her that after the polygraph, her life could be limited to just a few hours. Luna gestured for Mina to follow her and she hesitated for a bit before her feet started to move.

Mina was led into a large room that looked like a working man's bedroom. It was decorated in deep Browns and other dark colors, but it did not make the environment gloomy. Instead, it made the room feel cozy, like a log cabin in winter. All that was missing was a fireplace.

Entering the room, Mina could see the polygraph machine set up. There were two chairs on either side of the machine and a large piece of what looked like plastic separating the chairs. While Mina had never taken a polygraph, she was sure that the screen was to prevent the person being tested from seeing the question list or preliminary results before time. In essence, the divider was used to help the testee remain calm and free from judgement, but before they sat, Miss Luna folded the screen down. Mina's heart raced.
