Dom heard rumors, but he did not actually take them seriously until his commanding officer and wife got into a full-blown argument over how Mina managed to avoid them for an entire year. The woman claimed not to know, but what really drove it home for Dom was the man they had in custody. He was on record as saying, 'Mina will come for me,' as he was being taken from whatever hole in the wall hospital he went to for treatment.
Even then, when Dom's boss told him that he would be able to see Mina with his own eyes, he was doubtful, but that doubt soon made way to anger. He approached the woman, intending to scare her, but she was not the Mina she used to be. She fought back, hitting sensitive areas to get him to move in specific ways, and when his grip loosened, she pointed a knife directly at his chin.
