Chapter 365: Selfish

Olivia and Jay were nearly done with Moving her things from around the set to the exit. Jay was surprised that Olivia helped her at all. The woman did not behave spoiled, but she definitely did not have to work if she did not want to. She had always respected Olivia, but she now felt a little closer to the woman who had come out on short notice to help her out of a jam.

As Jay went through the list that Mina had started for her, and that Chris taught her to maintain, she noticed that she was missing a luxury gown. It was one of the few that Olivia absolutely needed back because it was an original piece created by CEO Rue and it was a limited edition.

The dress was not worth more than a few thousand dollars, but Olivia knew Cylus kept it a round as a reminder of his humble beginning. The women began to tear apart the wardrobe, not caring if they damaged or wrinkled anything in the process, and to their relief that gown had been shoved into a back corner, likely by Jay herself.

"What are you doing?" Called out a voice that man Olivia shiver. She knew there was a chance she would see Peter, but she did not think it would affect her so greatly. Fortunately, Jay was privy to much of what had happened, so she answered for them both.

"I was fired today; I am just collecting the things I need to return."

"By destroying all of ours?" Jay looked around the room and had only just noticed the mess they had made.

"We were looking for an original dress from the Rogue line of CEO Rue. It was borrowed without his knowledge."

"I'll help you look," Peter offered, and Olivia stiffened with his words.

"No need," said Jay. "We found it shortly before you walked in." She then turned to Olivia and told the woman to wait for her in the car, but Olivia remained a statue, and Peter noticed it as well.

"Are you afraid of me?" He asked. He was walking deeper into the room, while Olivia was shuffling back as far as she could go."

"I just don't feel comfortable around you. I woke up in your bed, with no memory of how I got there. You can't say I don't have a valid reason to be cautious." Jay felt like she needed to speak up for Olivia, who was more honest that she thought she could have been, but at the same time, she knew it was a conversation that needed to be had sooner than later.

"You haven't spoken to me since then. If you had, you would already know from my own mouth that I didn't touch you."

"There is also the fact that you just so happened to be at the same bar as me." Olivia had not spoken to either man regarding her ordeal, but according to Cylus, Bastien said he did not realize Olivia was drugged until after they walked outside of the bar, and Peter said that he believed he was saving her.

In truth, both men had a convincing story, and the fact that Peter had a woman take care of her lent to his. It was highly probable that a third party had drugged her, hoping she would be left alone long enough to snatch, but Olivia was not ready to make that determination yet. She had been to the doctor, and she was assured that she was intact and that over time her memories would return in fragments.

The problem Olivia faced was the time frame. Her memories could return anytime between three weeks and three months, and she wanted to avoid the main suspects until then. Without needing to be asked, Peter backed out of the room and left, and if Olivia did not know any better, she might have thought he looked upset.

With the man gone, she calmed down and was able to help Jay with the mess they had made.

----

Mina felt her body tremble, her lids were heavy, but she desperately wanted to open them. She could hear voices in the room with her, but she was unable to ask anything. Instead of coherent words, a moan escaped her lips and in response she felt something warm being shoved toward her chest.

Mina wanted to react to being touched in an intimate area, but she could not. Whatever had been placed against her body was so warm that it quieted her down and forced her back into sleep.

----

President Lee was in much better condition that Mina, although he in no way felt good. His body shook at random intervals, and it reminded him of the time he had left Mina behind. He already regretted his actions from back then, but having experienced what it was probably like for her made him regret his actions even more.

"How is Mina?" He asked Doctor Witt, who looked at him like an idiot.

"You very specifically asked me to assign my sister to her care. I have been in here with you, so I do not have an update on her status."

"You don't have to sound so thrilled about it," President Lee said sarcastically, and Jeremy pulled his glasses toward the bridge of his nose.

"Did I sound thrilled?" he asked, drawing a chuckle out of Ian who had enjoyed teasing Jeremy since he was a teen. The men were not friends, but they had trained together, which forced them to interact often.

It was then that Ian realized that Jeremy was an easy target, and a great person to relieve stress on. He took nothing personal and claimed to enjoy learning about his shortcomings.

Also around that time, the man was still on the fence about which science he wanted to pursue, but eventually he settled on physician-science. While biomedicine was the man's focus, in his own words, his favorite part of his job was experimenting on people. It was also around that time that Ian pulled away from the man.

"How long will I keep shivering?" President Lee asked, and to his surprise Doctor Witt shrugged.

"Anywhere from twenty-four to forty-eight hours. You still haven't told me how you and Mina ended up walking in the cold or even how long you walked." President Lee shut his eyes tightly. He was too embarrassed to answer the question but for the sake of medicine, he had no choice.

"Does she always react with violence?" Ian did not know why he expected Doctor Witt to judge him, but of course, he was once again more interested in Mina.

"Do you plan to kill her?"

"What? No. I was just angry."

"Then how did you expect her to make it to safety?" Doctor Witt asked.

"She could have called Dom and he could have sent someone to get her."

"President Lee, Mina gave her device to twenty-three." Ian leaned back into his bed and punched the mattress several times.

"Did she not tell you?" Doctor Witt questioned, and for some reason Ian knew the man was enjoying himself. Instead of answering. Ian ordered the man to get a status on Mina. Once again, he had hurt her because of his selfishness.
