Valuable Asset

Vincent seemed torn about wanting to enlighten her, but Charlotte found it funny since she was just about to see the man in the flesh very soon. At that point, the secrets are out of the bag. There was truly nothing to hide anymore. Charlotte ran her hand lightly on the waistband of his pants only for him to brush her hand off.

She was never one to reach out for that kind of touch first, and he was surprised without even telling to his face. But she could feel it when he gripped her hand hard to tell her to stop playing around.

Charlotte knew that if he couldn't control it, he would take her right now, but Vincent was the finest-mannered gentleman at the end of the day.

Vincent jerked his chin down in agreement. "Hendrey... is a valuable asset to the team."

Charlotte smiled. Vincent wasn't one to dish out compliments easily. "He does seem to do all of the background work."

"Yes. He works on the computer normally."

She laughed lightly since the scene that he was setting felt like a superhero one. "And hacks into the mainframe?"

"If needed."

Charlotte snorted. "You did say that he was a hacker. One of the best?"

Vincent shrugged. "Maybe. Gets the work done."

She smacked his shoulder. "Hendrey's feelings are going to be hurt. Think of all the people in your team."

Vincent picked up Charlotte like she was a feather in his arms, and she wrapped her legs around his waist instinctively. She swatted his shoulder. "Put me down, Vincent. Let's not keep the guests waiting."

"You can let go anytime," Vincent said sweetly.

Charlotte pinched him, and he finally let her go as they stepped through the doorway of the room that she chose. "We have to hurry."

"Let them wait."

They haven't gotten a moment alone for a while. They walked down the stairs together only to see that Lucia was taking up the entire couch forcing the two vampires to sit on the singular chairs.

As Vincent and Charlotte entered the living room, Hendrey looked up from his mini gaming console. Charlotte smiled at the newcomer, wanting to make him feel welcome rather than the cold greeting the vampires normally gave which may involve a long look to recognize the presence before walking away without turning back.

Hendrey was hunched over in the corner and placed the screen away as Charlotte went over to push Lucia's legs over to the side while Vincent took a seat next to Stone on the floor since there were no more chairs. Charlotte didn't know if Vincent was fine with that, but he lifted his shoulder slightly in response to her silent question.

Vincent was proud in all ways, so it was surprising that he submitted to Stone even in the littlest ways. Then again, he was Stone's right-hand man, so she supposed that those two didn't really correlate. She cast her gaze to the corner to inspect the man whom Vincent and Stone had been talking up.

The man in question was lanky and could be described as plain skinny as well. His skin was so pale it rivaled Lucia's fair complexion from the darkness that she had lived in for her whole life was astonishing.

It almost made him look extremely sick, but the only thing that was keeping him from being the epitome of frail was the slight pink flush in his cheeks.

Despite his overall complexion, he was an extremely pretty person. A pretty guy with his longer brown hair and dark eyes with his lips pressed into an uncomfortable frown.

Charlotte had no expectations as she learned not to in this field, but she truly thought that it would be another powerful-looking man like Vincent or Stone.

Dressed low-key in a black hoodie and grey cargo pants, his wrists were thin as he reached out for the water bottle to take a sip. He had a watch like Vincent's on his left wrist which made her think that Stone surely had one somewhere as well. The watch face was silver with a black leather band made of the best quality.

Hendrey's posture was questionable like a limp noodle, comparable to an unboiled elbow macaroni. The thought was random, and Charlotte snickered to herself which made Lucia curiously slide over to where she was and whisper over to her.

"What's so funny? I swear to God if you're going to make fun of me after I was the first one to get down here..."

Charlotte huffed out a laugh. "That's not it. We have a company. Behave."

Lucia rolled her eyes just as Stone cleared his throat to get their attention from a squabble that was about to start. Charlotte wasn't going to bite the bait that Lucia cast, but it was still funny how Stone looked concerned.
