Experienced Sentiment

The car was parked nearby a fire hydrant in front of a bar that was quite large with pounding music with the engine still running thankfully, so they didn't need to do any hard work of figuring how to disable one. Charlotte swung her head both ways of the sidewalk to see only drunk people making their way home.

She needed to seem as though she was just the average woman on the street since she needed to be a little closer to breaking out into a full sprint if she actually wanted a shot at succeeding in the mission. Her tall boots clicked on the sidewalk stone rhythmically which didn't match the pace of her racing heart at all.

People walked down the street in a zigzag motion, so it truly wasn't her fault when a man twice her size bumped into her shoulder. His hair was tucked underneath a black baseball cap, but there was a rude sneer on his face that made Charlotte hold her ground of being passive instead of meeting his match.

He sniffed at her with a glare before going down his way and adjusting his pants as if he had just finished doing something that she would rather not shine light upon with his friends that were practically hanging off his beefy arms. Lucia was a couple of feet away to make sure that they didn't seem to know each other.

Charlotte knew that they only had one shot, and it would have to be in one go. Breathing in and out softly, she counted down in her head from ten.

As she got down to five, her hands started to sweat inside her sheer black gloves with the nervous settling nicely into her gut which could either spur her to do better or worse.

Two more seconds. One. The loose stones underneath her boots crunched when she pivoted her foot in a swift motion and took off into a sprint with the length of her legs eating up the road in a fast clip, and she didn't focus on anything else around her as it was all a blur to get to her goal.

Ripping the red door open, she watched as Lucia got into the passenger seat but didn't look long enough to see if Lucia had safely strapped herself in since she didn't either, and her foot wasn't long enough to hit the acceleration pedal.

Sliding the seat forward in a split second, she was able to take a long perusal of the car which was truly a luxury.

The leather was fresh as if it was new, and her hands clutched the steering wheel tightly as they took off with the motor roaring to life as they speed down the street.

Shouts rang after them, the curses and spit being lost in the dust of the sports car as it raced down the street making all the other people run out of their way.

The car ran over the bumps and potholes in the road due to the overdue restoration of the road which had numerous cracks and was withering away. There was a sharp scratching sound that even made her wince. She truly was sorry for taking the person's car, but desperate times called for desperate measures.

Lucia was screaming out of her mind but quieted down when they had safely made their getaway from the owner of the vehicle, and Charlotte bit down her lips as her eyes were drilled ahead not bothering to try and console her.

She had no idea where she was going, and she looked over to Lucia, who was still glancing back.

"What are you doing?" Charlotte barked. "Tell me where to go."

Lucia straightened in her seat and blew out a harsh breath. "Continue down this block until you hit a big red sign to turn right."

Charlotte nodded and silently tapped her fingers on the steering wheel. "Why are you starting to chicken out now?"

"I'm not," Lucia bit out. "You don't realize how long I've been planning for this that I'm not in my right mind."

Charlotte slid a glance over to her. "Are you on anything right now?"

"Jesus, no," Lucia muttered. "I've never taken any of that ever."

"I had to throw it out there. I didn't see any signs earlier anyways."

"You don't just say that," Lucia said as she pinched her nose. "If you were out here by yourself, you would have already died immediately."

"That's for the sentiment," Charlotte drawled out dryly.

Lucia batted her eyelashes at her. "Of course, darling."

"You can't even be much older than I am."

"Despite so, I've probably experienced much more than you will ever have."

"If you would have told me that a year ago, I would have agreed. Now? Not so much."
