What If? - Chapter 2 - Chrissy x Eddie

Chrissy stood nervously at the entrance of Eddie's caravan. Looking out at the caravan park in front of her she felt her anxiety build.

'Eddie…' Chrissy looked behind to where Eddie stood, he was looking at her cautiously as he had before.

'Could you… Would you walk me home? If it happens again… I don't want to be alone…'

There was an awkward silence before the door to the caravan closed and Eddie stood alongside her. He didn't say anything but motioned his arm outwards for her to lead the way.

Chrissy lived on the other side of town. The posh side as they called it in the Caravan park. They walked alongside one another, in silence for the most part. Chrissy remained in her head, going over the events that had happened. Being next to Eddie made her feel safe though.

'Here, I thought you could use this.' Eddie handed her a cassette player and headphones.

Chrissy took it graciously. 'Eddie this is… you don't have to give this to me.' She turned it over in her hand, Eddie's name etched into the back of it. She smiled to herself but felt guilty for having it.

'I thought it would be better used by you. You know… if that happens again…' He smiled bashfully, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

'Thank you, Eddie, that's really sweet of you. You're a lovely guy, a real sweetie.' She smiled sweetly at him, a blush gracing her cheeks as she did so.

'Yeah well… I don't want you getting hurt, I like you.' He smiled awkwardly at her.

'You do…?' She smiled back at him again; she was so used to being her peppy fake cheerleader self that it was refreshing to find someone who liked her for herself.

Eddie went to speak before a shout was heard from the courtyard they were walking through.

'Chrissy! Hey! There you are!' Jason Carver approached them quickly, draping an arm around his girlfriend's shoulders. He gave her a forceful kiss on the cheek before noticing Eddie. Chrissy kept her gaze downcast, putting the cassette player in her jacket pocket.

'Munson? What the hell are you going here? Isn't this the wrong side of town for trailer trash?' He laughed, two of his jock friends from behind laughed with him.

'Jason! That's not nice! Eddie was walking me home, he's a friend.' She smiled apologetically in Eddie's direction.

'A friend?' Jason looked Eddie up and down, noticing Eddie's glance towards Chrissy. 'Strange friends babe, hang out with trash and you'll start smelling of it.' He laughed again with his friends, gripping Chrissy in closer to him. She went to defend Eddie once again but, Jason released her, taking a step forward to Eddie.

'Why don't I take it from here mate, I'll take her home, besides, you don't want your parents seeing you with someone like this do you babe?' He laughed again. A hurt look crossing Chrissy's face as he mentioned her parents. Something Eddie noticed. Eddie remained silent though, not best to pick fights when the numbers are against you, and after today he didn't think Chrissy wanted to be a part of that.

'Sure. Well… I guess I'll see you around.' He smiled awkwardly as he walked back the way they came; Chrissy watched him sadly as the others mimicked him.

She would make one hell of a scene with Jason once they were alone.
