I just changed the start, the rest was the same as the previous version though there are some changes.

Ren and Masamune watched until the sun had fully set before looking at Aki.

'How is she still asleep?'

Masamune was about to say something but then stopped when he saw someone that he hasn't seen before.

"Hey Ren, who is that?"

Ren turned his head and looked at the boy before answering.

"Oh, he is..."

"Gin."

Masamune and Ren both looked at the boy with confusion.

The boy looked at them for a while before speaking once more.

"My name is Gin."

Ren who was initially looking at Gin with confusion now looked at him with amazement.

'Wait. Gin from Hotarubi No Mori e?'

Ren was about speak once again but was cut off when Gin whistled.

An animal came near them the second Gin whistled, making them look at it with wonder.

'A deer?'

The deer advanced next to Gin before crouching down.

Gin looked at Ren and Masamune before speaking.

"This deer will take you out of the forest."

The deer nodded when it heard Gin's answer and walked towards Ren and Masamune.

Ren then took Aki with one hand while using the other to climb onto the deer while Masamune was already on the deer.

They both then waved goodbye and shouted, "We'll come back!" before the deer set off.

Gin watched their backs in silence and waited until they were gone.

He then took off his mask and breathed out slightly before looking at the stars.

'I wonder...if anyone else will come..?'

(Ren PoV)

The deer was going fast. Really fast.

My body jumped slightly from time to time while Masamune was screaming his heart out.

'Why do we have to be on a goddamn deer!'

I leaned my torso forwards a little before stopping.

A bright flash of light suddenly erupted out of nowhere and enveloped the surroundings.

'Light?'

I quickly covered my eyes with one hand while using the other to grip on the deer.

'Ouch.'

A branch suddenly hit me in the head, making me lean backwards a little.

I instinctively loosened my grip on the deer, and clutched my head.

'Fu-'

I slightly panicked when I felt myself move backwards.

Right when I was about to fall, Masamune gripped my shirt with force.

'??'

I looked at him in surprise, forgetting that I was about injure myself a few moments earlier.

'Eh? Since when was Masamune this strong?'

'I guess it must be some kind of protagonist thing...'

I then turned my head towards Masamune while looking at him gratefully.

I felt my heart beat calming down before it rose again.

'Eh? Where is Aki?'

I looked around before freezing when I saw where she was.

"Go faster!"

Aki was on the deers head, grabbing tightly on its antlers while cheering.

'...'

'Wasn't she sleeping before?'

I looked at her in confusion, questioning myself as to when she woke up.

I then pushed that question for alter before shouting at Aki with worry.

"Aki! Come here!"

'Can she even hear me?'

I was thinking for a while and decided I should just go to her.

I took one hand and put it near the deers neck whilst using the other to keep my balance.

I then moved my other hand around the deer's neck and hugged it tightly.

After reaching the deer's neck I pushed one hand forwards, trying to catch Aki's attention by tapping her shoulder.

"Ak-"

I got cut off as the deer suddenly stopped running, making me subconsciously tighten my arms around it's neck.

'Thank god...'

I sighed in relief when I found out that I was safe before panicking when I saw Aki fall backwards.

BANG!

She crashed onto me, making me fall backwards, creating a domino effect.

We all then fell off the deer with Masamune and Aki screaming.

I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact.

BOOM!

'Hard..'

My body crashed on the ground while my head hit the ground.

'Fuck.'

Searing pain then enveloped my body, making me move my head a little.

My eyes then instinctively closed, clouding my vision with darkness.

'Soft.'

The first thing I felt when I woke up was softness.

I moved my head slightly and opened my eyes, wanting to see what or who it was.

I then began opening my eyes slowly and saw the face of my mother.

"Mo-"

I opened my mouth and began to speak before stopping.

'Water?'

I used one hand to feel my cheek and felt some liquid dripping on my face.

'...Tears?'

I turned my head and saw that my mother's eyes were clouded with tears.

My heart suddenly clenched with pain, making me unable to speak.

Kinue looked at me and spoke softly while her tears started falling.

"...Do you know how worried I was?"

I looked at her in silence while she continued speaking.

"Ren your a child! You should be spending time with your mother, playing with other children! Not walking to who knows where and injure yourself!"

My heart tightened even harder as I saw more tears building up on her eyes.

"Your my son Ren! I-"

I hugged her tightly while tearing up a little.

"...I'm sorry..."

(Normal PoV)

A few hours have passed since the talk between Ren and Kinue.

Unfortunately, Ren had to get his head bandaged by the doctor because he cracked his head a little.

Though he cursed a little when he found out that Aki and Masamune weren't injured that badly apart from some bruises.

'Why was I the only one who was injured that badly...'

Ren grumbled a little before eating a bar of chocolate.

Meanwhile, Kinue and Aki were having a talk in the kitchen.

"So your mother won't talk to you?".

Kinue was gently patting Aki while asking about her circumstances.

"Do you want to talk with your mother?"

Kinue asked Aki another question which made her flinch slightly.

She then looked up at Kinue before nodding slowly.

Kinue smiled gently at her before taking Aki's hand.

"Come with me."

"Waah!"

"Ah. Here comes the aeroplane."

Ren was feeding Chinatsu slowly and talked to her while switching shows with the remote.

Ren then continued skipping shows for a while before 'coincidentally' landed on the news.

"Latest trending singer, Mike Oxlong has now married his 3rd wife, Amanda Deepthroat!"

Ren suddenly froze his movements when he heard what the reporter said.

'Eh? Polygamy is legal?'

BANG!

Ren turned his head around and saw that both Kinue and Aki had a helmet on while carrying a bat.

"Where are you guys going?"

Ren stood up from the couch and walked towards Kinue and Aki with Chinatsu on his arms.

Kinue turned her head and looked at Ren before walking outside.

"We are going to have a talk with Aki's mother, aren't we?"

Aki nodded her little head while putting her tiny fist up.

"Yeah!"

Ren looked at his mother and friend before sighing.

'I can't be asked to say anything...'

He waited until his mother left before turning around.

He then scratched his head and started to think as to why his mother was lying.

'She does want to talk to Aki's mom, but there is also something else...'

'What is it?'

Ren shook his head and put it on the back of his mind before getting some popcorn.

'Let's see what Aki's mom would do...'

He then walked out of the house and followed the rest with Chinatsu.

'At least there will be some entertainment...'

Meanwhile, Masamune was chilling on the couch while munching on some crisps.

He was lazily tapping on the remote before stumbling onto an interesting anime.

He then thought for a while before putting on the latest episode of 'Gotta Catch Em! All!'.

At first he watched it with interest but it then gradually evolved into excitement.

'I wonder if that would work. I'll have to grab some balls first though...'
