chapter 48;protecting her!

As we got ready to land, I finished reading and signing the documents and files that were sent to my email  and sat down in front of her seat and smiled before I put airpods in my ears.

Lisa was quite and I couldn't help but to admire her even more, as I leaned back to get a half an hour nap, I saw lisa doing the same.

As she was leaning back, I noticed she had a hickey on her left side of her neck and she looked at the window while sleeping.

I loved that she had chosen me as her mate but I couldn't stop thinking that she might as well have feelings for mike which made me feel angry even when I have her with me but still don't have her heart.

As we landed I woke her up and we walked out of the jet, she we stood outside I had my driver and guards ready to take us to the hotel I usually stay when I visit new York.

I turned to look at lisa who was shocked to see a limo and guards standing next to the door.

She asked me about the guards and the limo she surely is a simple girl with normal life. If it was someone else she would probably scream wit excitement and start posing for pictures.

But for lisa she's quite different, she probably grew up in an ordinary life unlike me who owns several businesses and have a luxurious life not that am complaining or something.

I decided to carry her just to tease her a  little bit and she seemed hesitant and tried to get off my arms. She whined as she hit me on my shoulder until I put her down.

I dressed up casually as I was about to go to the office but first  I had to drop lisa at my penthouse knowing that she might not be allowed inside.

We got inside the limo and the look on her face showed that it was her first time to be in such a fancy car, it was big enough for ten people but it was just us.

She was so excited playing with the buttons as the window that  closes and opens which is also a sound proof as well.

After that, she opened the window on her side and put her head out as her hair blew with the wind, as she enjoyed the ride, I took my phone and texted sandra my nanny who raised since I was a child.

Though she is old but she's as strong as a horse, she has no relatives so my parents let her stay with us.

She kind hearted and joyful and would always be with me whenever my parents were away for business trips.

She still stays at the penthouse where I would be with her whenever I came back to new York for business.

And now she was going to meet lisa for the first time and I was happy to see her as well.

After about an hour we reached the hotel and I got out first when the driver opened the door for me.

Lisa followed me and I helped her get out, I held her hand and I walked towards the entrance to the lobby  where the receptionist were sitting.

As always I would greet them and they would reply and one of the workers helped us wit the luggage.

I looked at lisa thinking she was standing next to me only to see her looking fascinated with the hotel and one moment some of my pictures were on some posts and was being put on walls.

Lisa looked shocked once she realised who I was.i took her hand and we entered the elevator and pushed the final button which was the one I was living in.

It took about two minutes to get there,as the doors open I entered the penthouse, the door man took our luggage in and I gave him a tip.

He left and I turned to see lisa observing some of my art collection and she was being careful with it as if they were fragile and would be in trouble if she breaks it.

I smiled at and walked to her,telling her not to worry and even if it breaks it would be replaced and there was something that would never be able to be replaced was her.

She smiled and I kissed her lips, knowing that I was tired but I had to be at work because mom had set a meeting with the board members.

And she texted me to be there when the board  were about to make  the final decision on who would take over now that my dad is dead.

"Where are you going, shouldn't you be taking nap?" Lisa asked as she saw me heading to the elevator.

"Its fine,I'll be back as quick as I can" I said as the doors closed.

My ride was ready and drove to the meeting room and sat next to mom as the members discussed about it.

After an hour they came back and looked at each other and I turned to look at mom as she seemed nervous about it.

"After what happened mr. Anderson, we've made a decision and we think his son would be  the best choice to take over after him after all he is a trustworthy for this company" said mr. Johnson who was my dad's best friend and advisor.

After that, I stood up to thank him and the members of the board and shook hands with them before they left.

Mom and I were the only one left, we went through the other door which was connected to my dad's office.

Mom and I looked around as the memories of him came in my mind, I remember when I would spend time with him while he worked.

He would teach me new things and being a quick leaner, I became the vice chairman  when I was eighteen.

As I was still thinking about him,I felt mom's hand on my shoulder and I turned to see her in tears, I couldn't tell whether it was a happy or sad moment.

"Am so happy that you've taken over and am sure your dad would have been proud of your achievements" she said as she held me in her arms.

I was happy as well but I would have been worth it if I had him to share this happy time.

Mom left as her phone rang and I stayed back, still couldn't believe it that i took over after him, i sat on the chair and leaned back and was about to close my eyes when someone budged in.

I sat up and saw mom ragging at me with anger in her eyes.

"What in the frickin world did you do? You brought lisa here against her aunt's will?" She asked as she walked towards me.

"Yes, I did bring lisa here but she didn't say anything to me in fact she liked that I brought her here and she's staying at the penthouse" I said as I stood up from the chair.

"How could you please don't tell me that you're doing it to protect her when you know very well she won't forgive you once she finds out your true intentions" she said worried.

"What intentions mom and what do you know that I don't?" I asked.

"I know that you went behind my back to investigate about your dad's death when I specifically told you to forget about it "she fumed with anger at me.

I couldn't believe she would know about it and still she forbade me to not find out about my dad's death.

"I did what I had to do and I finally managed to find who did it and am willing to make him pay for it " I said as I walked out of the room.

I could hear her calling my name but I was furious to even listen to her and she was right about lisa as she might not forgive me if she finds out about everything.

I entered the car and drove back to the penthouse,  as soon as I entered I saw lisa laying on the sofa sound a sleep. I sat next to her admiring her face.

She looked peaceful and I caressed her cheek before I carried her to the room. She soon opened her eyes but then closed when she saw me.

She smiled at me before closing them again, she looked tired to even take off her sneakers.

I laid her on the bed, took off her shoes and covered her with duvet. I went to the bathroom took a cold shower to ease my heart and changed into my short and laid on the bed.

I thought about mom's words and it wasn't far from the truth, I really want to tell her the reason why I don't want her near mike but it's there's a barrier between us.

I soon went to sleep and woke up early to prepare breakfast for lisa, I told sandra to take a day off as i wanted to spend time with lisa.

As soon as i was done preparing i went to wake her up only to see an empty bed, i almost ran out to look for her when she suddenly appeared from behind.

She looked shocked as well she probably thought i left for work but i told her not to worry and that we would be spending more time together.

We ate breakfast and told her to get ready to leave as i had prepared a surprise visit to the.

As I looked around for my watch my phone rang and it was none other than mom.

I wanted to ignore it but decided to take the call and listen to what she was going to say.

"Finally you picked up, listen toby I know what you're doing is nothing but protecting her but have you considered telling her first before you make a move?" She asked.

I didn't know what to say but I know that mike might say something to her if she talks to him so I had to make sure she didn't meet him at any chance.

"Am willing to do what it takes to stop him from seeing her and I'll protect her with my life " I said little did I know someone was there to listen.

I dropped my phone on the bed to see who it was, it was lisa she looked both confused and scared and am sure am the cause of it.

"Are you ok lisa?" I asked as I walked to her.

She didn't say anything but pointed at the broken vase and broke down to tears.

"Its ok, don't worry about it, it turned out that she wanted to clean up the mess but the glass cut her finger and she almost passed out.

I carried her and took her inside to help her clean up her cut. I went to the bathroom and brought the aid kit.

I cleaned the wound and I looked at her as tears silently ran down her cheek.

"Am sorry it was an accident, I didn't mean to break it " she said as she wipe her eyes.

"There's nothing to be sorry about, Its fine lisa it's not like you killed someone accident happens ok" I assured her and kissed her hand after putting a bandage around it.

"If you don't mind me asking what's happening to you and what are you protecting me from?" She asked and I knew she overheard my conversation on the phone.

"There's something am hiding from me and if you have a little trust on me then it would be better if you don't get involved in it" I said as I cupped her face.

Hopefully she doesn't ask me more or else.....
