Chapter 6

Nandini bought some good formal and ethnic outfits, great footwear and accessories to look presentable for her work. She sighed "Ahh done with shopping!!!" and arranged her wardrobe.

Soon the big day arrived.

Her first day at work, she reached sharp at 9 a.m and walked to her cubicle. She was comfortable with the office environment. Nobody bothered anyone unnecessarily. It was a healthy working atmosphere. Everybody were engrossed in their work. Nandini hardly moved from her place. Her reporting manager was Madhyam aka Maddy. So she had to meet him after lunch break. After having her lunch she walked to Maddy's cubicle and noticed he wasn't at his desk. She waited there for one hour but he didn't turn up. She got back to her place cursing Maddy for wasting her time. As soon as she reached her desk she got a call from Maddy asking to come and meet her. She got frustrated and decided to meet him, she headed back to his place.

"Oh Miss. Murthy, please have a seat how was your first day? I hope you are fine with everything." He said motioning her to sit on a chair opposite to his. He gave her a warm smile.

He was pleased to see a charming and beautiful, less makeup face amongst the hired employees. Some were really experienced and were male candidates. So, he welcomed her with all his charm. He thought she was really beautiful. Beauty with Brains.

Nandini giving a fake smile said, "Oh yea, I am doing good but I was waiting for you for almost an hour here, what took you so long ?"

Maddy was shocked. First day at work and this attitude. He was surprised as she wasn't impressed by his looks or position. Hmmmm, not bad, its gonna be fun working with little Miss. Arrogant he already felt like she needs this endearment.

He said "Yes, actually I was having important meeting with Manik and I forgot to inform you but I m not really sorry. You need to get used to such things. We don't follow school timings. I understand you are just out of school and all." He smirked.

The nerve. She thought.

Nandini shrugged. "Oh really? I am sorry to say but I value time the most, and waiting for whole sixty minutes without any output is a loss for this bank as well. Please make sure you are more organized henceforth. OK. Now. Tell me what am I supposed to work on?"

But Maddy was taken aback "Oh freak! what's happening I got to tell Manik about this girl."He fumed.

Maddy calmed down by counting numbers from ten to one in a slow manner and then explained to her what she had to work on.

For next few hours they were together discussing few "What to do's" and at 4 p.m they decided to take a coffee break. Maddy asked her to accompany him but she denied. He was fuming by now. She went back to her seat and started checking her notepad on what she had work on. She always believed in work is worship.

Maddy passed through Nandini's desk staring at her and at the same time her head snapped up when she hears some sound. Looking at Maddy's not so cool expression, she snarls smugly at him. He snickers and leaves the place.

How unprofessional, Nandini shakes her head disappointingly.

Nandini was annoyed by his behaviour and thought not a great day to start. She wasn't a person to get intimidated by anyone, she concentrated on her work.

Manik was busy for the whole day attending meetings and conferences. He was relaxing on his chair and then decided to check his mails.

But then, he saw Nandini who was so busy with her work. Nandini's desk was just opposite to Manik's cabin since there were glass doors in the office building except for meeting rooms. He could notice all the employees through his cabin. He saw her with such intensity. She was busy typing on her laptop. She was wearing beautiful baby pink color formal top and white formal gray pants. She had long, thick and shiny black hair which crossed her waist. She was wearing white pearl earrings and white watch. She looked really great he thought. But he came back to his senses "Gosh what am thinking why am I even staring at her, for gods sake she is my employee and its her first day. Manik, Manik concentrate," he took and deep breath and got back to his work.

Nandini looked at her watch it showed 6 p.m she decided to call it for a day. Wrapped up her stuff took her bag and decided to meet Manik once and inform him about the work related stuff. Slowly she walked towards his cabin and knocked on his door. He asked her to come in. He was in a call and was almost blushing.

Nandini thought so, Mr. Boss can also blush, but why is he blushing so hard. Seems like he is talking to someone special.

Soon he ends his call and asks Nandini "So, how was your first day all ok ?"

Nandini smiled and said "Oh yea its a great place to work. I liked everything here the work ethics is great. I think I am going to have great time here." She decided not to say anything about Maddy as it was just her first day.

They had some professional talk and Nandini left.

Nandini thanked her God. Atleast her boss was sensible and not kiddish or unprofessional like Maddy. That gave her lot of relief. This was her dream job and she wasn't ready to get pulled back by some egoistic superior of hers.

Manik started analysing about Nandini. This girl is not just a genius but really beautiful and sensible. Quite a rare combination. But he wasn't ready to go further with his analysis as it would lead to something else, like may be some attraction or connection. He wasn't ready for any of that.

He rolled his eyes and checked his phone and again blushed seeing a message from special person with whom he was on call.
