The battle at the border of MoonElf Dukedom turned chaotic as time passed. The formerly systematic battle from before was now changed into a huge melee. The fight started at the evening and it escalated until the night.
A fight would usually ceased at night but apparently the ogres had no intention of doing so. They were after all a barbaric race who never use their head. To them, a fight during the day and night had no differences. The elves could only steeled themselves and fight them regardless.
At the forefront of the clash, two figure was fighting one on one without anyone else interfering.
Commander Sicantik against tribe chief Oggy.
Beauty against the beast.
Oggy was not on top of his mammoth anymore. He was crazily running toward Sicantik while swinging his metal club left and right. Every strike of his produced a small crater on the spot. His attack was extremely powerful.
"Stop running away, bitch!"
Enraged by the current fight which seemed not going to end, Oggy bellowed in anger.
"Heh, useless brute."
Obviously Sicantik would use this chance to add salt to his injury by mocking him more.
They had been fighting for almost an hour yet Oggy had never managed to land his attack on her even once. Sicantik was an agility based blade dancer while Oggy was a strength based barbarian. This was a total mismatch to begin with. As for Ogre Commander Bonito, he had been long ago stabbed to death by Sicantik.
Even with his gold rank prowess, he still couldn't subdue the silver rank Sicantik because of her overwhelming speed. But again, Sicantik had no advantage over her opponent either. All her light attack were useless in front of Oggy's monstrous defense.
This stalemate would continue for quite some time until either side exhausted their stamina.
The fight of the other ogres and elves were also reaching its peak. Hundreds of ogres and elves had fallen in this battle. Several elves need to cooperate in order to take down one ogre. It was an obvious disadvantage for the elves.
"At this rate, our army won't last another two hour."
One of the veteran lieutenant under Sicantik complained to his friend. He was a veteran blade dancer. He could easily subdue a normal ogre alone. His name was Hensem, a manly looking handsome man with a long red hair.
"Yeah, it's a hard fight to begin with. Our commander is just too hot-headed."
Another handsome man with a short blonde hair replied. He was also a lieutenant in the MoonElf Royal Army, Hensem's best friend. His name was Tampan. Unlike Hensem, he was a ranger. The both of them were gold ranked intermediate bosses.
They were chatting leisurely as they teamed up and killed ogres within their range of attack. They could kill ogres alone if they wanted but doing it together were more efficient.
" Just observe her fight for now. If she needed help later on, we should immediately go."
"Can't be helped. We are her protector after all."
The two of them were not a true member of MoonElf Royal Army. Their position as a lieutenant was just a cover for them to move easily while observing and protecting Sicantik.
"ROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!"
A sudden loud explosive roar turned the chaotic battlefield into a stand still.
Several weak soldiers dropped their weapon when they heard that roar. Even the fight between Oggy and Sicantik come to a halt after that threatening roar.
There were suddenly a group of black dragon at the dark sky led by a huge black dragon with a cross scar on its head. Maybe because these dragons flew at high attitude or maybe because they were concealing themselves successfully, none of the elves nor ogres noticed when these dragons came.
"I have been waiting for you, Your Excellency King Hitam Cair."
Oggy who was extremely arrogant earlier was now kneeling as he talked to the sky. He appeared very humble and meek at the moment. Sicantik who had been facing him earlier had a bad feeling about this change of event.
The huge black dragon at the sky suddenly shrunk in size until it became a sharp looking humanoid male. He was now a handsome middle aged man with long black hair with a cross scar on his forehead wearing a black battle armor.
King Hitam Cair, King Hitam Legam's second son. He was a strong gold ranked insane boss with strength close enough to enter the top twenty strongest ranking.
"What are you doing Oggy? How come you are stopped by this lass? She was just a silver ranker."
There were traces of disdain in his voice. He was totally dissatisfied with Oggy's performance. A gold ranked insane boss losing to a silver ranked one. That fact by itself already shameful enough.
"My apologize your Excellency. This subordinate is incompetent."
"Humph."
King Hitam Cair snorted at Oggy's reply. He then walked toward Sicantik step by step. Sicantik stayed vigilant as she observed her surroundings. She knew that their side was doomed in this battle. There was no way for them to triumphed over these ogres and dragons.
"Kuheok!"
One solid punch landed on Sicantik's torso solidly. She was sent flying several meters away because of that punch. Not just Sicantik, even Oggy couldn't follow King Hitam Cair's movement. He was way too fast for their eyes to see.
"Commander!"
Several elven soldiers shouted at the same time. This was the very first time they saw their commander being hit ever since this battle started. Their commander who was proclaimed to be Flash Goddess was actually defeated in speed.
Tampan and Hensem immediately rushed toward their commander as they readied themselves toward any incoming attack.
"You okay commander?"
Hensem asked.
"Yeah, I can manage."
Sicantik stood up and wiped the blood spilled on her cheek.
"What should we do now?"
"I don't think they will be benevolence enough to let us leave."
"I don't think so either. Our only choice is to fight I guess."
The three of them already gave up hope on surviving. Fighting that ogre army was hard enough as it was. Now with the addition of a dragon army, they had no chances of winning at all.
---------------------------------------------------
The atmosphere of the battlefield at the BrightMoon Palace was now quite eerie. With the goblins forming weird gesture all over inside their formation, more and more dark matter became visible all around them.
Mays who sat not too far from them had no intention to interrupt them. Ria and Hallel were now standing behind him. They were also observing the formation made by those goblins without saying anything.
On a cliff not too far from that battlefield laid a crimson dragon with a carriage on top of it. It was Flamence. Close to that dragon was several humanoid figure, six in total. They were Mays's five spirits and also Minerva, Ria's summoned spirit.
"Mira is bored. When can we join in?"
"Just shut up for now Mira."
"..."
As always, both Mira and Syaitona bickered a lot. The others didn't even bother talking as they observed the progress of the battle. The order they received from Mays was simple. They could join the fight only when a gold ranked insane boss appear.
"Syaitona, do you remember..."
"What? So noisy."
Syaitona was obviously not in the mood to talk to Mira. She was quite downcast by how disappointing the fight had been. She wanted to learn more about battle by watching Mays yet this fight ended too fast.
"If only you didn't barge into the room when master was busy, Mira was sure that we can join the fight from the get go... OUCH!"
Mira muttered that line in a low tone yet Syaitona still heard it. To her, it was loud and clear. He face turned quite red as she smacked Mira at the back of her head.
In a way, what Mira just said did make sense though. Because of what happened that morning, there was an awkward atmosphere inside the carriage all day long during their travel. Ria who was usually clingy seemed to be bashful while Mays was deep in his thought all the time.
Even when they noticed the battle from afar, Mays kept his silent while observing the fight. He then ordered the spirits to wait for his signal before he rushed there with both Ria and Hallel in tow. Of course Drasca was with him, coiling around his neck in her mini dragon form.
"What's that for? Mira is just saying the truth!"
"That's because you started talking nonsense. Just shut up!"
"Mira won't shut up! Pervert! Peeper! Bueee!!"
Sticking her tongue out, Mira sprint away from Syaitona as she continued to taunt her. She acted like a little child indeed. The others just shook their head as they watched the two for a few second before averting their attention back to the battlefield.
"These goblins... they're sacrificing their life?"
Mays was totally intrigued by the action taken by these goblin. They were lowly and selfish. They would always be the first to backstab others given the chances. But now, they were sacrificing themselves without complaint.
They used up all their life force just to conjure a black smog on top of their formation. The black smog appeared denser each time a goblin fell down. It housed a mystical and dark energy which most probably related to demon kin. This skill was obviously not a skill from HeavensTale since Mays had no recollection of it.
"Is there something wrong with that?"
"Looks pretty normal to me."
Both Ria and Hallel didn't give it any real thought but Ria still asked Mays about it since Mays already voiced it out. He wouldn't say something if there was no meaning to it. She knew him long enough to understand that much.
"Goblins. There are nothing more selfish than them. The only reason why they sacrifice themselves like this can only be either they are threaten by something beyond their power or it was an order from their Goblin Lord itself. What do you think the reason is, Ria?"
"Mmm... mmm... It's the first option I think."
After listening to the long explanation, Ria mumbled for a while before she answered Mays's question.
"Then we best be prepared."
Mays immediately stood and unsheathed both his swords again. One of Ria's unique traits was that exceptional accuracy of her instinct. That was a real sixth sense for sure.
Not even ten minute passed yet more than half of the goblin survivors were now on the ground, devoid of life. All normal silver ranked goblin already died leaving mostly intermediate bosses remained standing.
"Demonic Void Possession!"
Goblin General Gomen shouted his heart out. At the same time, the dark smog immediately rushed toward both his aide, devouring them whole.
"UAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHH!!"
Agonizing scream echoed as the darkness shrouding the two of them dissipated bit by bit. These two hobgoblin didn't even know that they would be the target of this possession skill. Inside the dense dark smog was now two humanoid silhouette whose body stature was totally different from those two hobgoblin aide from earlier.
They were now totally buffed, with jet black skin all over their body. There were also two protruding horn on top of their forehead. Mays was quite amused when he saw them because he knew what they were.
Demonic Spawn.
The by-product of a failed demonic soul experiment. The strength of those two hobgoblin from earlier was now enhanced multiple time thanks to the demon soul possessing them. The drawback from this move was also insane.
These two would not live past tomorrow. The demon soul possessing them were too powerful hence their body would disintegrate after hosting them for several hours. These souls were after all a fail product. They couldn't possess body with strong soul in them yet the body of weakling couldn't house them for long.
The only reason why Mays knew all these information was because of a boss in HeavensTale who could summon these Demonic Spawn. Everything about them were only described in the skill details yet someone meticulous like Mays remembered those single details without fail.
---------------------------------
"Those... What are those things."
"Demons? No, that's not right. Their demonic aura was even stronger than demons."
The elven guards were unsettled by the arrival of these two unknown being. The thick demonic aura emanating from the two of them clearly evoked fear out of those presents. Even the princess was quite shocked when these two came out.
"Those two was no ordinary demon. I fear the three human warrior was no match for them."
"I also think so."
The princess's aide voiced out his thought. It was logical considering how extraordinary these two demonic spawns looked like. The other elves lieutenant just agreed to it without further thinking. There was no need to give it any thought when the demonic aura emanated from those two already made their body shivers.
"I still believe in them."
The princess was the only one who was still firmed with her belief. Her power as a seer never failed her so far and she knew that this time it wouldn't be any different either.
"Hehe... Once again, I am alive."
"Having a body always feel nice heh."
Both demonic spawn moved their limbs slowly, familiarizing themselves with their new body. The goblin general was now kneeling on the ground, showing his respect toward the two demonic spawn. Following their own general, the other goblin survivors also kneeled out of respect.
These goblins were instructed by those higher level demons to mount this surprise attack against the elves. In fact, none of them were coming here with their own free will. If not because they couldn't defy the orders from demons, none of them would come out and started this losing war.
Goblins were numerous, yet they only have one gold ranked insane boss, the goblin lord himself. The elves? Just the Moon Elves alone had three gold ranked insane bosses. This war by itself was already a suicide mission for them.
"Two low levelled gold ranked insane bosses. They could at least serve as sparring partner."
Mays who was in his fighting stance earlier once again dropped his guard. He thought these goblin might summon something worthy of his all but they barely managed to summon these demonic spawns. These weak beings who was at level seventy five barely qualified as gold ranked insane bosses.
"Eh, you know what those are?"
"Of course he knows. He is Mays."
Replying the shocked Hallel was Ria. She was totally smug as she said it like it was a matter of fact.
"What are you acting so proud for? Its Mays who knows, not you."
Obviously Hallel was quite irritated by that.
"It's the same. Mays is mine so it's basically me knowing hehe."
"Tch."
Hallel clicked her tongue in annoyance because she knew there was no reasoning with this girl. Mays who stood by their side just giggled at their antique as if he was watching an interesting drama.
"They are demonic spawns, an event boss from back when level cap was seventy five. They are not even comparable to those normal level seventy five bosses who guards dungeon. They are literally the weakest of gold ranked insane bosses."
After they listened to the details of their opponent, Ria and Hallel nodded in apprehension. It was just a weak gold ranked insane bosses. It wouldn't pose them any problem if they fight it with the help of their spirits. That was what the two of them thought.
How about it? You guys wanna try fighting them alone?"
With his usual nonchalant tone, Mays blurted out a question which startled Ria and Hallel.
" You're not going with us, Mays?"
"Even if they're the lowest among their group, they're still gold ranked insane boss. Do you want us to go suicide?"
Both Ria and Hallel had different reaction but they both knew that they couldn't match up against a gold ranked insane boss in a one on one fight. Even the weakest gold ranked insane boss was literally way stronger than them.
"Well, I have my ways. I just think that this will serve as another good training for you both. So?"
His gaze was alternately shifting from Ria and Hallel, waiting for their reply.
"I'll do it because I believe in you."
Ria's voice was filled with determination as she replied. She even smiled brightly as she looked at Mays in the eyes. She knew best that Mays wouldn't do anything without proper reason. Sending her to death was totally illogical for Mays who had gone as far as sacrificing himself just to ensure her safety.
"Tch, I'll do it. I was just stating the fact earlier. I never said I won't do it."
Despite the clear trace of annoyance in her voice, Hallel still decided to do it. The main reason for her annoyance was not because she needed to face the demonic spawn but because how jealous she was at Ria who could be true to herself in front of Mays. She couldn't do that when she was alone with Mays, let alone doing so in front of others.
"That's good then. Drasca, do your job."
"As you wish, master."
Abiding the order given by Mays, Drasca who was coiling all over Mays's neck shone brightly all of a sudden. At the same time, Mays and his two companion Ria and Hallel were enshrouded by a thin layer of golden light, making them shone like a sun in the middle of the night.
"This... What is this?"
"This feels... fantastic."
The two of them had different reaction but it was apparent that they were both shocked at what just happened. In fact, even Mays couldn't help but feel awesome whenever he was wrapped by this golden layer. Their fighting prowess was enhanced several times thanks to that golden layer after all.
"Heheh... I'll explain later. You guys should go enjoy yourself first."
Without explaining to Ria and Hallel, Mays pointed his finger toward the two hell spawn who seemed about ready to fight.
"Tch, fine. I'll go deal with them first."
Hallel begrudgingly complained yet she still leapt forward without making a fuss.
"Reward me something nice after I'm done okay."
As for Ria, she happily shot forward without worry when she saw Mays's smiling face brimmed with confident. Mays was always watching over her and she knew that.
"For sure."
