Going Back Home

I looked around. The worried faces of my friends. The lights.

Nurses were carrying bunches of people in. I looked around, my neck burning with knackered pain. It hurt so much. Later, maybe after a few days, I was conscious. I saw that my back was pretty much burned. I went through a lot through that battle. I just had a flashback of all the sounds and yelling and all of the tragedy. I am thankful I made it through the battle. I almost could have got killed when I laid that grenade. I packed my stuff, got carried in the truck and started to prepare for my arrival home.

I laid my head back for a minute and closed my eyes. It was just dreadful seeing everyone getting shot and bullets being shot everywhere not knowing if you were going to see your family or friends again or not. I am glad that I was at least fighting for my country, but it was kind of terrifying. "How was your experience out there," said a military member. I said, "It was dreadful, heroic, unexpecting, there were many things I felt." The military member said, "I thought it was pretty exciting, but also unexpecting."

I sighed. I looked around. The bright sun beaming high up the sky. The smoke from the tanks. Sarge smiling at me, saluting at me. I could feel him saying, "You've done it. You've done it."

I chuckled. Unexpectedly, Glenn said, 'What are you doing?" I turned around at him. "Sorry," I said. "I was just taking a glance at the camp...for the last time." Gwen came up to me. "Gwen!!" I shouted with ecstasy on my face. "I'm so glad to see you." Gwen laughed. "Yeah, we need to get into the truck. We're leaving." I nodded. I went into the truck with my friends, or I should say my family.

The truck left the camp. And we were leaving carefree, knowing we can call this a battle of triumph.
