Yue looked at Lu WenXian in surprise and then at San Zhe. Her gaze was no longer indifferent. They were looking at San Zhe like he was a treasure that she had coveted for a long time.
"Mr Lu, sir...what are you saying!" San Zhe asked helplessly.
"You proposed to him?" WuQi asked Lu WenXian in a daze.
WenXian nodded.
"He rejected you?" WuQi asked him.
He nodded again.
WuQi grinned at him. "Do you want to date me as revenge?"
Lu WenXian gaped at her. That was not how it was supposed to go!
San Zhe sighed in relief. Dodged that a oneway ticket to death!
He glared at Lu WenXian. These Experts were too fickle! They would get you into trouble just to save their skin!
Lu WenXian pushed WuQi away by the shoulders. "I'm sorry but I can't move on so easily."
Shameless, San Zhe thought in a daze. Absolutely shameless.
"We just have to pretend!" WuQi said desperately. "He will get jealous of us and see what he is missing! We can even pretend to get married and have kids! Four of them! That will show him!"
Lu WenXian gave her a deadpanned look. "Do you think I'm that gullible?"
WuQi fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Then do you think I'm that gullible to believe your nonsense? You met him today."
Lu WenXian shook his head. "But I really do like him!"
"Really?" WuQi frowned. "Is it love?"
Lu WenXian nearly nodded but then shook his head. "No, just wanted to get to know him more and stuff like that. I...um...I think he...is..."
Lu WenXian looked towards San Zhe.
"Eh...cute?"
WuQi looked thunderstruck. "Cute?"
"But he rejected me," Lu WenXian said again.
WuQi glared at San Zhe.
Lu WenXian smiled. Now that was the reaction he was hoping for.
"Why would you reject him?"
"Um...that…"
"Is he not pretty?"
San Zhe looked at WuQi and then at Lu WenXian and then back at WuQi. "He is but…"
"Is he not successful?"
"He is?"
"Why did that sound like a question?"
"He is!"
WuQi nodded her head in satisfaction. "Do you not like bo-"
"The Spider is threading its web," Yue said, interrupting WuQi.
Everyone looked at the Battlefield.
Lotus was spinning the whip around her body in a crisscross pattern, the violet currents spun with her movements, weaving and intertwining, contacting at the pools together.
The threads of electric current formed attached themselves to the rope of the Lightning whip and split into two.
Cheng Xiu's eyes remained closed but her body started to glow in an eery brown tone. The writings on her robe changed their colour to bright gold.
"Her cultivation really is Earth-based," said Frost at the sight. "And knowing that her cultivation is below 50 and that she is so fast...her Cultivation Path is definitely above C-Ranked."
"That doesn't matter," Yue said to her. "Lotus's A-Ranked Lightning Path is more than enough to even the battlefield."
Cheng Xiu dodged to the right as the lightning threads condensed to form ropes.
"SelaXiu," Lotus crooned. "I'm impressed by you! No! I'm more than impressed. You have made me use my multiple whips! You have become my enemy."
Cheng Xiu opened her eyes. Her irises were crimson. The earthy hue of the glow around her body gained an undertone of red and the blue colour of her robe seeped away into white.
Lotus froze.
"Impossible," Lotus whispered.
Cheng Xiu could sense the Qi around her.
She felt connected.
She felt that she was never alone. She would always be a part of nature.
This was the connection that she never had. This was the feeling that the Blessed felt every day.
Cheng Xiu felt overwhelmed. This feeling of connection...she only felt it so clearly during the Qi Crystal at Veritas, when she had used it to awaken her Qi Centre.
And this time, she felt the connection deeper than before. It was as though the connection back then had an invisible barrier between her and her Qi Centre.
Lotus scowled.
"Damned Rookie," she muttered.
She viciously hit Cheng Xiu with her whip, its two ropes tearing through Cheng Xiu's clothes.
Cheng Xiu jumped back in the nick of time, avoiding any major injury.
She felt like she was filled to the brim with power. As though she would be able to fight a hundred Lotuses before she lost even half of her strength. Everything seemed to be in slow mode. The settling dust, the scattering soil and rocks and even the leaves and grasses around them. Everything.
Cheng Xiu flashed away from another attack in a streak of red and brown.
Lotus gritted her teeth. Wasn't she a Newbie? Newbies were supposed to be clueless and powerless!
Why was this girl able to use Qi Burst?
Cheng Xiu smirked. "What's wrong? Can't keep up?"
"Arrogant!" Lotus said with a glare. "How long can you keep that up, huh? My guess is, not for long. Two Qi Bursts should be your limit."
Cheng Xiu scowled. That made sense.
Though she couldn't feel that limit she figured she only had a limited amount of time to get this right. To find a weakness.
Lotus gave her a bloodthirsty grin. "Let's play, Rookie!"
Lotus brought her whip down repeatedly and tried to hit Cheng Xiu at the vital areas of the head and the neck. In this round, Lotus was focused on killing the girl as soon as possible.
But it was not that simple.
Cheng Xiu jumped back and forth and ran away whenever she could.
Lotus gave out a bloodlust filled scream. Cheng Xiu's speed was a bit faster than her own making it harder for Lotus to harm the blue-robed girl.
The violet glow of her whip and its twin ropes spread to her entire body.
Cheng Xiu found the Immortal's speed had increased to some level. She concentrated her mind on the erratic moments of the expert woman, trying to find a weak spot.
Cheng Xiu's entire body glowed red as she crouched low on the ground.
Lotus pulled her whip into an overarching to gain momentum.
Cheng Xiu's phoenix eyes glinted.
An opening.
Lotus bent forwards, her whip coming down in a harsh circular motion.
Cheng Xiu shifted her grip on her sword to the left hand and ran towards Lotus.
She shifted her weight to the side, letting the whip hit her shoulder and burn into the skin.
Lotus looked at her in surprise.
Cheng Xiu ran forward, not losing a bit of her momentum, her sword pointed towards the heart of Lotus.
Lotus changed her grip on the whip and spun it towards Cheng Xiu.
The sword pierced through the heart as the whip wound around the neck.
Their spectators stilled in shock.
