Chapter 21

I wake up few hours after the explosion, with caution I observe my surroundings. I only sense one spy, as the other two have gone to inform Trent about their observations. after the explosion I could've woken up a bit earlier, but I didn't want to miss out on an afternoon nap.

The spies have put me in a 'room', that had only two of its walls still standing and a portion of its roof still attached. After I got 'knocked out', my 「Obsidian Skin」got disabled, thus I now am covered in dry mud from head to toe.

Using 「Regeneration(low)」a dim green light surrounds me and disappears seconds later, after I'm done 'healing', I use Water Magic to splash my self and remove most of the mud.

[I've had to do all this annoying stuff so the nosy spies don't get suspicious about my powers] I walk over to where the Golem exploded and start searching for anything useful, but sadly only valuable thing I could find was the hammer head that I detached from the handle with a kick.

From my bag, which was dropped on the ground from the initial attack, I get a few pices of rope to carry the hammer head, and start heading back to town.

When I on the main road, I paid one silver to a merchant for a ride. whilst sitting in the wagon, my greed got the hang of me, and wanted to eat the Golem's core right away, but the lone spy still had their eyes on me. because of the unwanted guest, I had to disguise the Core, and put it in a sandwich.

「Consumed: Golem Of The Lost City. Gained: Knockback Resistance(45%)」

and I didn't even get the full skill, but it's still progress. some time later I get back to the Guild, and bring in the Golem's hammer as evidence of quest completion, for doing a team mission solo, I get the full reward, plus the material cost of the hammer head, which totals to 40 silver.

After receiving the rewards, I expected a cliche muscle head to enter the stage and try to bully the reward money off of me, but having a quick look around the Guild reception area, no one seemed to be having a inferiority complex.

walking out of the guild,and walking towards my lodging, I sense around 7 people waiting in an alley few steps ahead of me... it seems no one can escape the dreaded cliche.

acting casual, I don't slow down or even look towards the alley, as I'am about to pass it, a hand reaches out and quickly drags me in and my eyes are covered in opaque cloth. with my mouth gagged and my hands tied, they fell safe as, I wouldn't be able to attack or cast magic, two of them quickly start patting me down, whilst two others hold me down and the other three have their weapons and magic ready for any trouble.

jokes on them, I hid the money and any valuable item in my inventory, also I don't need my hands nor my mouth to cast magic. sadly I still have the spy observing my every move and by using magic I'd be in trouble.

Thinking of my only option 「Dark Roar」, A dense cluster of mana gets collected near my gagged mouth, and with a simple thought, it unleashes a devastating sonic attack. instantly knocking nearby enemies unconscious and flinging them away, whilst the ones farther back start to bleed from their ears and eyes. the energy from 「Dark Roar」is capable of disrupting energy flow of my targets, thus any and all skills and magic they had at the ready, were disrupted and disabled.

with a quick tear, my arms were freed, coming next was my eyes and mouth. with all my senses back to normal, I quickly deal with the still conscious thugs.

A quick 「Lunge」and a kick to one's stomach, a 「Vital Strike」to the other's head, and finally a 「Horn Charge」 palm strike towards the third's chest.

when all the wannabe thugs were out cold, the spy finally decided it would be a good time to show up. without any explanation to how he got here or how he found us, he just said:

"The Guild will deal with the rest" and just pushed me out of the alley.

Me, not wanting any trouble, just continue on my way to my lodging without asking questions.

when I get back to my room, I decide to try my luck with a single piece of the Golem...

「Knockback Resistance(62%)」

and lo and behold, it worked.
