Chapter One: Or So I thought
"Yes!" Ian blinked twice processing by what Val yelled
"Yes?" he asked looking at a very happy girl infront of him "Yes, Yes I will marry you!" she yelled again happily and Ian sighed which made Val stopped and her expression turn from happy to worry.
"Why? what's wrong?" she asked while looking at Ian. Ian sighed once again and looked at her holding her hand. Val didn't know what was happening but she calmly held his hand too. She always loved holding Ian's hand for it is big compared to hers she always loved the idea how smooth it is to hold and how warm it is.
"I'm sorry." Ian looked at her in the eyes and Val didn't know what he meant "Wh-what do you mean?" she asked thinking that she might did something wrong to their date to make him upset.
"Look if it's about me not wearing red tonight for our date I'm sorry and if that upset you, I'll wear red next time. You know that red isn't my color and you know how I like pink and all-"
"It's not that Val" Ian said cutting her off, Val stopped and became more worried "Then what is it?" she asked trying not to overthink things.
"The reason I took you to a date tonight it's because I...." Val looked at him hopefully things will be okay. Ian took a deep breath and looked at her happily. "I got the job!" he happily said letting go her hand and excitedly showed her the email he got earlier that day.
"Th-the job of what you always wanted?" Val was a bit sad cause she thought that he was proposing and she was quite happy cause her beloved was happy and he has been waiting on that email for weeks now.
"Yes Val! I got it and they told me tomorrow I got to be there and I already booked a flight!" Val was loss for words she wanted him to be happy but she also dont want him to leave cause she knows that he has to go far from her.
Ian sighed in happiness looking at the email again and noticed how quiet Val has been. "Val" Ian called out and held her hand and gently caressing it. "I'm sorry that you missed understood the situation earlier but you cut me off without me finishing to what I'm about to say. I want to marry you because I love you and I really do but I have to do this first for our future." He calmly said.
Val just smiled at him hoping that things won't go wrong, she has never been away from him and she didn't know if she could live it that way. Knowing that he has to go far is quite unbearable but she cant do anything but to support him.
"Honey I promise if everything ends well, I'll come back and take you okay? So we wont get seperated just trust me okay?" Ian said and Val nodded wishing that it was true.
They both finished their dinner and spent the night walking around the street enjoying every moment together.
Time has come and Val went back to her apartment she slowly walked towards her bed and cried. She can't take the idea of him living far away.
After crying for a few hours she didnt noticed that she fell asleep. Morning came and she woke up, She quickly took her phone and dialed Ian's number.
"Ian?"
"Yes hon?"
"Where are you?"
"I'm already inside the plane and It'll take off in 5 minutes."Upon hearing this Val heart shattered cause she wanted to see him before getting on the plane but she was too late.
" Oh okay, Have a safe trip okay?" She sadly said
"Yes I will and I'll call you as soon as I land okay?"
"Okay"
"I love you"
"I love you too" with that Ian ended the call and Val stared at her phone and tears filled her eyes. Without noticing she cried again but this time she cried her heart out staring at their photo from last night's date.
While crying she stood up from her bed and walked towards her kitchen and opened the refrigerator, she took out her ice cream and ate it while tears fell from her eyes.
She ate it till the very last scoop and she was sad cause it was empty she went back to her kitchen and there was nothing else.
She cried again cause she was out of ice cream and wanted to call Ian to buy some for her but she remembered that Ian was traveling across the globe for work.
So she dialed her bestfriend "Hey Girl!" on the other line yelled.
Val heard how excited her friend is and she started to cry even more "WAHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
"Girl you okay? Who made you cry am I gonna kill somebody? Drop the name and bring me a shovel and some plastic bags!"
"NO NO NO IT'S IAN" Val Cried
"Why what happened?"
"Long Story" she replied still crying while looking at the mirror
"Stop crying what do you need?"
"Some Cookies and cream, Dark Forest and Coffe crumble ice cream" Val replied
"Don't blame me if you ever gonna have a damage tooth I'll be there." Then the call ended.
After 30 minutes Someone was knocking on Val's door. She slowly went to her door and heard her bestfriend. "Hurry up don't make me wait any longer if you dont want me to put a hole in your door!"
Val opened her door looking like a dead person "What the- You look like my aunt who hasn't showered for days girl you look nasty" Val cried again and Rumi hurriedly went inside and gave her the ice cream.
"Shut it your neighbours might think that you're crazy!" and shut the door behind her, She helped Val to get to her couch and sat beside her.
"So tell me what happened"
Val told her everything and she cried even more cause she missed Ian so much and It wasn't even 2hrs since their last call.
"Oh My god I thought he cheated on you!" Val looked at her with anger "He wouldn't do that he said that he loves me" She said as she took a scoop on her coffee crumble ice cream.
"Mhm yeah and unicorns are real" Rumi sarcastically replied. Val looked at her while munching the ice cream in her mouth.
