I don't believe in coincidences, I haven't for a long time.
Probably since the day I changed.
That day long ago was when this downhill path started.
However, I managed to piece myself together with my bare hands.
I picked up the pieces of my broken self and taped them back together.
It may be a brittle job that can collapse easily.
However, I did my best, I really did.
And I do my best to maintain it.
So that's why even though I was scared, I still knew I had to fight for my life.
I don't want to die.
So the only way is to fight.
As the man entered the bathroom, I quickly made my way behind him and wrapped the towel around his neck, putting him in a chokehold.
Of course, I had just seen this in a movie, but hey the movie had to have been inspired from somewhere.
So I really hope it works.
As I was choking him he started elbowing me.
Luckily his elbows were not breaking my ribs so I could assume he was somewhere around F-Rank.
If he was any higher I would probably have no chance of winning.
Tucking my head in, I held on as long as I could.
"Oomph" a gasping sound came out of my mouth as a particularly hard elbow dug itself into my abdomen.
My hands slightly loosened and that was all he needed to turn things around.
Slipping out of the towel, he turned around and punched me in the stomach.
Staggering back slightly, it gave him enough time to point his gun at me.
However, I knew he wouldn't shoot.
He had gone for a punch as soon as he was free instead of reaching for his gun despite me being hunched over.
"Don't mo-" he began to say but was cut off as I charged at him.
Although I didn't have much weight on me, I still managed to push him into the shower as I had caught him off guard.
Closing his eyes as the hot water hit him, he flinched.
Grabbing the shower head I pointed it at his face.
Lifting up his hand to block the water and with the other pointing the pistol, I knocked the pistol from his hand with a sharp knife hand strike to the wrist.
However when I did that the shower head wasn't pointed at him, so he reached for me.
Twisting my body I kneed him in the groin, doubling over slightly, he gasped for breath.
I grabbed his head and with all the force I could muster I shoved it down onto the steaming hot metal pipe with the Nobbs on it.
"Ah!" a silent scream left his mouth.
I held his face down as long as I could but he quickly managed to get up and kick me out of the shower.
Falling over on my back next to the sink, I attempted to get up quickly however he pinned me down.
As he raised his fist to punch me, my thoughts raced to find a way out.
And in the end, I came to one conclusion.
"This is a bit gay, isn't it?" I said with a cheeky smile.
"Huh?" he muttered confused.
However, that one second was all I needed.
Reaching over and grabbing the towel off the floor, I lifted it and slapped him in the eye with it.
As his hands slightly lifted off me I managed to sit up and grab his face.
Sticking my thumbs where his twitching eye was, I pressed down hard while closing my own eyes.
"Ew…" I muttered as he let out a little groan.
My thumbs had pierced his eyes.
As his hands went up to cover his eyes I took advantage of it and stood up, grabbing his head with my hands.
I thrust it with full force at the sink.
The sink cracked and he crumpled to the ground.
As my chest heaved up and down and my breathing raced.
The adrenaline was still pumping hard.
What do I do about him?
Rule # 14 states that you should not leave anything that will bite you in the ass later.
However, I didn't know if I was ready to kill someone yet.
To be honest it kind of scared me.
Leaving him in the bathroom I made my way over to the bed and grabbed my bag.
As I gathered up my stuff and prepared to leave, I didn't notice someone approaching me from behind.
-Thud!
Something heavy hit me on the back.
Groaning in pain I turned around.
There was Mr. googly eyes.
It seemed he had found me based on sound, however, missed my head because he couldn't see.
Well, I guess you could say he was really dedicated to his job.
He had hit me with the butt of his pistol.
Swinging my bag around with my arms, I was never happier that I had bought a regular backpack.
It hit him in the head and knocked him off balance.
He crashed into the desk, toppling it over.
Approaching him I punched him hard in the nose.
His head tilted back, however, a boot hit me in the stomach sending me flying backward into the boxes destroying a bunch of the stuff in there.
He got up and staggered over to me.
Throwing an old hoverboard at him, I charged him and threw him at the bed.
Managing to pry the pistol from his fingers.
I raised it and aimed it at him.
"Who sent you?!?" I asked him, keeping it pointed at him.
However, he only silently stared at me which was pretty creepy considering he didn't have eyes.
It didn't seem like he would answer so I waited.
"Hey, kid." came a gruff voice.
Bout time he arrived, I could have been a shitty pizza by now.
I had chosen to call for backup for many reasons.
Obviously, I couldn't estimate the strength of who broke in before I fought with him so backup was necessary.
And I knew that if by some miracle I did win, I would have to kill him to cut off a loose end.
And I didn't want to put myself through that, I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it right now.
After all, if I won't look after myself, who will?
"Man, kid you really made a mess," said Gus.
"Well, better him than me," I answered back.
Chuckling slightly and shaking his head, Gus moved over to grab the guy.
"You gonna be alright?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I answered immediately.
It was like an automatic response for me.
Gus, perhaps sensing not to probe further, picked up the guy and left.
"Huuu…" sighing heavily I flopped down on the bed.
I quickly fell asleep.
***
I woke up with a start.
I had to get out of here.
Checking my phone I found that it was 5:04 in the morning.
Scrambling up from the bed I gathered my stuff.
Hmm.
Before I left I cleaned up the blood splatters, there was nothing I could do about the broken things.
Finding a piece of paper and a pen in the garbage I quickly scribbled down a note and left through the window.
Making my way through the dark and quiet streets of the city, my eyes kept flicking around looking for signs of danger.
It seemed that every day I spent here made me more paranoid.
I made it to the train station by 5:54 AM so I managed to get on the departing train.
Sitting down in the compartment, I sighed.
Too much stuff had happened.
It seemed someone wanted me dead or kidnapped.
I nearly died twice.
I had nobody I knew in this world.
I had almost no money to my name.
No explanation for why I was here.
I wasn't even myself but a villain in my own novel.
A villain fated to die.
And all I know is that if I don't get strong enough I'm going to die in the near future.
I hugged myself as the train departed.
I felt so alone.
Everything hurt.
And all I had was myself.
Unbeknownst to me, my body began shivering.
-Whoosh!
The train arrived at the station.
Getting up from my seat while still in my thoughts, I made my way off the platform and through the station.
Eventually arriving at the entrance to the train station, I realized how quiet it was.
It was early in the morning before working hours and most people hadn't arrived yet.
On top of that, it was raining.
Looking down at myself I realized how terrible I looked.
My clothes were torn in places, and there was dried blood on the back of my shirt.
I probably looked homeless since my gaunt face wasn't much to look at in the first place.
And I had no umbrella.
Sighing again, I wondered how much worse it could get.
I shouldn't have said that.
"Hey, take this." called a cold voice from the side.
Lifting my head and turning my gaze to a beautiful girl on my left, my eyes widened slightly.
Long silky blonde hair hung past her shoulders.
Clear blue eyes gazed coldly at me.
A bodyguard stood behind her.
And she was handing me an umbrella.
"Hey! I'm speaking to you, don't you know who's offering you this umbrella?"
"You probably can't afford one right? So here take this one, my bodyguard bought the wrong one."
Emilia Von Claire.
One of the main heroines.
Daughter of the leader of the black market.
And also a spoiled brat.
Hmm.
It would be best not to interact with the heroines and the protagonist.
I mean for real, I'm already almost dying on my own. I don't need his death flags.
And I don't want to alter the course of the book, otherwise, I won't know what will happen.
And a threat that is known is no longer a threat.
Now, I did take away the Pool of Life from the protagonist. However, there were other items that would make him broken so it wasn't really a big deal.
Right?
Right?
Convincing myself I did the right thing, I decided that not interacting with her was for the best.
Silently turning my head and ignoring her, I then walked out into the rain without an umbrella.
"Hey!" I heard her call after me.
However, I kept walking.

*Very Important Message Please Read*
Ok so I assumed you guys wouldn't read the authors thoughts so I'm writing it here in the chapter.
After having nearly finished writing the first volume I have become very confused with my own world system due to my lack of proper planning.
therefore while I post chapters so you guys don't get left hanging, I will be re writing as fast as I can the things related to the Status and Magic System. so it will be less complicated and more simple but still keep a unique and complex feel, with that said I will indeed post a TLDR on the latest chapter of everything I edited in earlier chapters so you guys don't have to go back and re read. i will also post a separate chapter detailing the entire Magic System once I've finished revising it.
Thx for reading this message and send some love plz, my brain is dying.
