Shifters.

They were a unique race with the extraordinary ability to modify their appearance and properties. They had the power to alter their Essence, fundamentally changing their natural composition.

Among the diverse kinds of shifters, Shadow Shifters were exceptionally rare and unique. 

While other shifters could only transform themselves, shadow shifters possessed the extraordinary capability to manipulate extensions of themselves - their own shadows.

Elish now had one of these shadow shifters as his pawn.

His new slave faced off against thirty-four, previously thirty-five, trained adversaries. Though their identities were concealed beneath masks, they were no ordinary bandits.

"Come at me," the shadow shifter challenged his foes.

The bandits appeared uneasy, still reeling from witnessing their comrade's demise at the hands—or rather, shadows—of the person before them. Nevertheless, their mission took precedence.
