Camilla sat nervously on the edge of her bed, her heart pounding as she anticipated Max's arrival. The door creaked open, and Max entered, a maid trailing behind him. Her heart raced even faster. Since that night, she had avoided facing him, terrified of what she might see in his eyes or what he might say.
Max approached slowly and took a seat on a wooden stool beside the bed. The maid spoke, "Ms., please come this side." Camilla didn't say anything, moving slowly to Max's side. She felt weak and unsteady, uncertain if she would even be able to walk or stand on her wedding day.
Max exhaled and said in a heavy tone, "Would you mind waiting outside?" He directed the maid to leave them alone. The maid nodded and left, thinking it best to let her master be with the physician alone.
As the door closed, Max looked at Camilla, his gaze searching and concerned. "Are you eating properly?" he asked.
Camilla nodded slightly, though the truth was far from it.
