Villain.

Visuveus Vincent is a former villain and an ex-con on parole. In a society of Heroes and Villains, alignment assessments are frequent and compulsory. A disconnect between his Alignment and his crimes meant that Visuveus' parole came with strict terms and conditions which he struggles to meet all while trying to survive and get custody of his daughter.

Court. (1)

They could hear his footsteps disappear down the road, and once they could no longer hear him at all, most of the other employees turned to face their boss, bombarding him with all manner of questions, questioning both his sanity and his judgement at hiring Visuveus. He didn't bother to respond to any of the questions as he appeared to be in deep contemplation. After a few minutes passed, a grin suddenly spread across Sonny's face and he looked at one of his employees, who recoiled a bit.

"Ryan – give me the keys."

"…the keys to?"

"The truck, you bobble-headed ass."

"Ah, right!"

Sonny rolled his eyes and shook his head with a chuckle as Ryan found and tossed the keys over to his boss, who then turned around ran into the building, leaving everybody standing with wide eyes and gaping mouths.

"…did the boss just… sprint?"

"…does that even count as a sprint?"

"That was definitely a sprint." An older employee said as he face-palmed himself. "I haven't seen Sonny move that fast in years."

That statement made the disbelief of the others grow even further, and for them to exchange looks.

"THAT was Sonny moving QUICKLY?!" One of them boomed.

The sound of a roaring truck engine interrupted them all and they were forced to actually jump out of the way and make evasive maneuvers to avoid being flattened. As Sonny's truck boomed past them, the employees who were quite literally on the ground all looked through the windows of the vehicle and saw the grin on his face had grown wider. That older employee then stood up and flipped Sonny the bird.

"This is why you fuckin' failed in your previous career, you dangerous bastard!"

Sonny turned violently onto the road, and the bouncing truck sped off down said road. Whether or not he heard what his employee had said, nobody knew and the group found itself quickly dispersing. Meanwhile on the road, Sonny was absolutely belting it, all the while keeping an eye out. After a few minutes, he found what he was looking for which clearly surprised and amused him. Visuveus, who was still sprinting with the same speed and intensity he flew out of the parking lot with, had covered an insane amount of ground – so much so, that Sonny just drove alongside him for a few seconds and just watched him run. Visuveus didn't even think to look at this truck that was driving next to and keeping pace with him as he was solely focused on getting to the courthouse on time. Sonny continued to drive as if he was waiting for Visuveus to notice him, and realised that he just wasn't going to. The window was then wound down and the hooter was pressed a few times, causing Visuveus to finally glance to his side.

"Vincent!" Sonny yelled. "Get in!!"

Visuveus just looked at Sonny without breaking stride. The truck's door slid open and Visuveus wasted little time, leaping into the truck's cabin and sitting down in one smooth motion – as if this entire thing was a rehearsed skit he and Sonny had done hundreds of times. Visuveus wasn't even out of breath, and as the door slid closed, he fastened his seatbelt and wiped his brow with a handkerchief he pulled out of his seemingly infinitely sized breast pocket.

"Why are you here?" He asked as he glanced over at Sonny, who by now was flooring it.

"I'm obviously here to give you a ride, ain't I?"

"Yes, but why?"

"Because you seemed pretty sincere and desperate!" Sonny snapped.

"Desperate?"

"You literally sprinted out of the parking lot, Vincent. You were still sprinting until a few seconds ago. In fact, you're fast as Hell – how did you get so far? Why do you run like a cyborg? Anyway..." Sonny said as he shook his head, seemingly trying to get back on topic. "…here I am to take you to court, because clearly, you're desperate to get there and sort this out today."

"Yeah, well the judge assigned to me has it in for me. The less ammunition she has to use against me, the better."

"Oh yeah? Who have you got?"

"You know the Judges?" Visuveus asked as he looked at Sonny.

"I'm more acquainted with them than you know." Sonny replied with a smirk before looking at Visuveus. "So? Who you got?"

"Judge S.K."

"Holy shit, you got Nisha?! And you say she's got it in for you?!"

"…yeah."

"Fuck… what did you do to get her on your ass?"

"Nothing." Visuveus said with a shrug of the shoulders. "She just took one look at me and my record, and decided from the off that she hated me."

"Oh man, that's rough… no wonder you want to get her off your back as much as possible."

Sonny then threw the truck into a corner and floored it, before looking at Visuveus and grinning.

"We gotta get you to that Courthouse even quicker now, and luckily for you, I know a few shortcuts."

"…gotcha." Visuveus said as he braced himself before instinctively digging his fingers into the seat.

That turned out to be the right move as Sonny absolutely tore through the city, heading towards the Justice District – a series of city blocks that were filled exclusively with courts, that dealt with Villains and Super Villains of all ranks and classifications. Due to the relatively small nature of the crimes that Visuveus was arrested for, he was assigned to a Nisha, a judge who handled more small-time criminals. Sonny drove like a local taxi driver, cutting people off, abruptly changing lanes and more. He drew the ire of nigh on all the motorists who crossed his path, and by the time they pulled up to the Courthouse, Visuveus was wondering how they were both still alive.

"…were you a getaway driver before starting your business?" Visuveus asked as he looked at Sonny, who just laughed.

"Nah Kid, I was actually a small time Hero back in the day. Nobody famous, and I didn't do anything of importance."

"Heroes don't drive like they're transporting packages that they don't ask questions about."

"I got you here quickly, didn't I? Quit yer grumbling."

Visuveus just opened the door and stepped out of the truck, before taking a moment to neaten his clothes. He looked around as if looking for something or someone, and upon finding who he was looking for, Visuveus sighed ever so slightly before back at the truck.

"Thanks for the…"

Sonny was no longer in the truck, and was now standing next to Visuveus.

"I'm coming in with ya. If that dragon sees you with your new employer, it'll add some credibility to that letter, no?"

"It certainly would add some gravitas to my claims. I'm not sure if that'll help all that much, though."

"What? Why?"

"My Public Defender is right over there." Visuveus said as he raised a hand to flag the lawyer over.

A young, disheveled man wearing a faded scotch suit that was entirely too big for him noticed Visuveus and nodded, before making his way over. In spite of having a briefcase, he was holding a multitude of loose papers that threatened to fly all over the place with only the slightest provocation. Sonny looked at the approaching attorney, before shaking his head and looking at Visuveus.

"…I don't want to judge a book by its cover, but…"

"He's terrible. I gave up on him doing anything for me the moment I met him."

"He can't be that bad…"

The lawyer reached the two men and despite having only broken out into a brisk walk, he was out of breath. He took a moment to gather himself, before looking at his client and smiling.

"Mr. Vincent!" He said rather cheerfully. "It feels like it's been forever. How have you been?"

"I've been alright, Steve. As much as I would love to continue with the niceties, I feel it's best to get in there right now."

"Yes, you're right. That said, it's not looking good for us, Mr. Vincent. The evidence against you is pretty damning, and I think it's best if you just plead guilty and take the deal."

Visuveus closed his eyes, took a deep breath and tried his best not to sigh and face palm himself. He then looked towards Sonny, who was just shaking his head slowly while staring at Steve.

"Steve, I don't know who you're confusing me with this time, but let's just get in the Courthouse. It's best we get in there before her."

Visuveus then walked off, with Sonny and Steve following suit. Steve kept glancing over at Sonny, prompting the portly man stare at him.

"You got something to say to me?"

"No, not at all… I was just wondering who you were."

"I'm Vincent's new boss."

"New bo… wait, Mr. Vincent, you have a JOB?!"

"Steve, I JUST got off the phone with you! I explained the situation – TWICE."

As the group ascended the stairs, Visuveus went over the things with Steve for a third time.

"How did this guy even become a lawyer?" Sonny asked, without realising that he said it out loud.

Greetings, Earthlings,

This is just to say, Steve is one of my favourite characters. I laughed while I was writing his and Visuveus' interaction.
