Vengeful Soul: Discarded Love

Talk

The reception was grand. A lot of people attended, wishing them the best for their marriage. It was not new to Mae, being with a sea of people. However, this is the first time she was alone. Her grandfather is not with her to assure if she feels okay. She felt small with all the attention she was having from people. Most of them were people she never really knew existed.

Mae turned to look for her husband.

'He looks like J. He even talks and walks like him. But something is wrong.'

Drowned in her thoughts she questions herself of what fate has in store for her. Being wed at such an early age, dealing with the emotional mess from losing her only family and being in another one. Not to mention her husband appears to be the man she had been in loved since her early teenage years. Yet, as it appears, he doesn't know her.

Not too long, John notices Mae staring at him and was having a questioning look in her face. He had promised his grandfather to be a gentleman especially tonight. Well, it looks like his grandfather is afraid that he would want to consummate their marriage. He smirks as he shakes his head. Walking towards her, he holds a glass and offers it to her.

"No, thank you," she said in a small voice.

This made him think that she is appearing innocent like a little girl. Amusing. Very amusing. Nobody would think of how much of a trouble this young wife of his has brought to his life.

"You don't have anyone to talk to?"

Having a nod as a response, he takes her hand. "Mae, right?"

She looks at him.

"Let's have a talk outside, shall we?"

They left the hall. As they were outside, he lets go of her hand and puts his on his pocket.

"Uhm, John? Where have you been these past years?"

It was his time to give a questioning look. He is confused with why she would ask such thing as if they have known each other long ago.

"I'm afraid I don't know why you are asking me this. But... I have always been here with my grandfather. I never left this country since I was small."

Mae tried to hide her surprise. She couldn't be mistaken. It is him in flesh but he denies it.

"Anyway, Mae. I would like to talk to you about our set-up. I'm afraid you are still young and my grandfather is afraid of us consummating our marriage."

She blushed. Never had she thought of this.

'Of course, silly. Marriage requires physical affection and more, Mae!' She mentally scolded herself. She looked at him as he spoke again.

"You don't have to worry. We would be in separate rooms to ensure that we would not be doing unnecessary things."

His tone was different. It was almost as if he was mocking her from his statement. This talk certainly gave her a headache and a bunch more questions left unanswered.
