The city of Chanda is a peaceful nation that is under the protection of the Luminous Country Kingdom and serves as the country's main capital. It serves as the Luminous strongest organization and historical landmark. As Xion was recruited into the Midnight Lore Organization he had to go through a series of trials known as the Sanctum of Code, each of them had their twists and turns from within.
Each trial is based on an aspect of humanity's natural sins: Wrath, Greed, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, Envy, and Pride. These challenges were created to resist the madness of Ascents, those who fail became creatures of horror known as Lost Souls.
Xion roamed the dark streets of Chanda, wearing his Organization attire that looked formal but easy to move in, the color scheme of the night sky black and crimson red could only be shown through light and not the shadows. His crimson eyes gleamed from within the darkness.
Turning down the street he saw his Captian, Shea Livingston. She was now his teacher and leader. When she first met him... They met in her Library which also serves as a base of operation... They met like this...
"Oh, Sean. It's been a while." A feminine mature voice was heard from the back. The person who appeared was the Library owner, Shea Livingston.
"Yes it has been a while, I thought you were heading off to visit our family."
"Yeah, that sounds about right... The thing is that rumors of Lost Soul creatures have begun to reappear more frequently lately. So now I have to stay undercover while hunting them."
Xion tilted his head acting confused on the matter. Venus looked down at the boy who forgot to introduce her. "Where are my manners? Xion, this purple-haired tyrant is Shea Livingston. She's the older sister of Sean. She's also one the leaders of Midnight Lore that works for the Readers of Destiny Family and Church of Sacred Wisdom"
"Older sister?" His fantasy started to get the better of him. Not once could he see the resemblance or the personality from them. "That means she's an old hag."
Sean and Venus looked at Xion with a shocked expression. Shea kept a closed eye smile with a tick mark appearing on her forehead. Without sudden warning, she swung at the child, with such speed and strength he could see death from those hands alone.
Boom!
The outside ground shook violently. People around the city block screaming from the tremor, surprisingly the only thing that was broken was only the translucent glass.
"Kids like you need to respect your elders!"
When the dust cleared, she noticed that she couldn't move her fist at all. Xion just stood there as if he could never be touched by imitating danger. It was the invisible barrier that could stop anything.
"So you're using Spatial Magic — No you're an Ascender with a Spiritual Authority Core." Xion looked at Audrey with a defensive expression, he wasn't sure what was a Spiritual Authority Core. She was able to guess what he could do with just a simple glance. "So your barrier seems to borrow time from around you creating an Automatic defense mechanism that stops physical and non-physical attacks."
"And I see you must have the Warrior Ascent, that explains your examination, brute strength, and speed. That means you're a 9th Array, The Gladiator. I'm surprised that you try to move faster than someone who can perceive something that moves faster than lightning." Xion lips curled to a smile. After regaining his past, he was now able to focus more on the future.
Audrey looked at Sean with a skeptical look. "So this is the brat I'm supposed to take care of."
Sean nodded gently "Indeed. The priest wanted you to train him so he can join the others on the frontlines."
"Roger." She responded with a smile that truly silent the area around her, Xion had seen this face before. The face of a mother ready to give her child punishment for getting bad grades. "Well, good luck, Xion." Said Sean. Shoving Venus out the door with a nervous smile. This guy set him up for failure and his suffering.
"Huh?" Xion began to process what was about to happen. His face was mortified about his oncoming doom. Suddenly she was dragged by her to the back of the library building with a strange symbol on the back door. "Where are you taking me?" He asked boredly.
"Don't worry, I'm taking you to meet your comrades." Her magenta color eyes gazed at the expressionless boy, pressing the door open showing a staircase that goes down into the basement.
Xiom then said jokingly. "I'm being kidnapped."
"Shut up!" Demanded Shea who walked down the stairs dragging poor Xion as his bottom hit every stair. 'If she has kids, I'll have to pray for them if they get in trouble.'
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, a young woman was reading a book by the bar counter. Her blunt bangs covered her right eye, and her light shade of brown three-layer hair exposed her warm ivory skin. She wore an ash-white western-style dress.
Shea called out, "Yo, Celina. We have a new member." She lightly threw Xion in front of her as he gradually rubbed his butt from the dragging.
"That's not how you handle a kid, hag," Xion said glaring at her. Celina turned to her left to hear Xion's comment and Shea cocked her fist back. Xion immediately put his guard up, his stance was defensive yet calm. Shea smirked, lowering her arm.
"Not only do you have an overpowered ability but you also have skills behind that frailed body." Shea chuckled before walking back upstairs. "I'm looking forward to your adventures with us. Celina, teach him the ropes."
Xion sighed deeply thinking he was going to die again. "Geez, that was too much." His crimson eyes moved to the corner of his eyes seeing Celina standing there with her book in her hands.
'That blood red hair, those crimson eyes that speak of death prophets. The aura of a monster that still has to awaken into a creature of apocalypse.' She could see the red outline of mana, she had never seen or sensed such condensed energy. Her rose-pink-colored eyes widened, reflecting two beings behind, the being of light and darkness holding strings that were connected to him.
"Are you okay?"
Recollecting her thoughts she noticed Xion Trinity before her with his usual expression. "Huh...? What? Yeah, I'm okay. My name is Celina Crest. I'm the Vice Captian of the Midnight Lore." She offered her hand as an expression of introducing herself.
Xion accepts her hand, introducing himself. "My name is Xion Trinity. I'm only ten years old."
"So young!" She exclaimed not even sure how to proceed knowing he was so young. 'What is the church thinking of recruiting someone so young? I know his presence threatens everything around him but if he were to be on the battlefield... it would only be a massacre for him.'
"Then I think I should bring you up to speed about our organization." She grabbed his hands pulling him to take a seat by the coffee table located by the bookshelf. Sitting him down, she lays her book down on the table. "Our organization is the frontlines to the Astrea Continent Main Army and the first generation of humans that have the power to split the world apart. As you know the Lost Souls are creatures that failed to become Ascenders or attempted magic rituals. Each creature is ranked from Soulless; creatures that can destroy a building and use minor possessions abilities, to Destroyer creatures that can wipe out an entire mountain and island in the pack. Our captain, Lady Shea destroyed a pack of Destroyer class Lost Souls with a swing of her lance."
Xion rested his chin in his palm, to think Shea was that strong scared him from that minor attack from before. "So how can we-"
Celina interrupted him catching him off guard from her immediate response "Combat them? Lost Souls are weak against magic due to the fact, that magic is our supernatural energy that can either purify or warp a physical and non-physical aspects of natural laws."
"As long magic isn't overloaded from high advance spells, we can dispose of the Lost Souls easily depending on one's mana."
Xion remained silent, causally remaining expressionless. 'Humans are so easy to understand when you put all the puzzles together. Celina, you're strong but that won't take you far. The Lost Souls aren't truly humans, to begin with... They're only monsters that were burdened with the sins of humanity's nature.'
