Chapter 39: Tense Moments after Seeing Raven
Once inside the cab, Steven placed his forehead on his hands.
“Why did I have to see that newspaper clip? Why did I have to read it?” he asked himself. “I started it and Gwyneth encouraged it all,” he told himself. Inside the hotel he walked to the lifts and he noticed a group of other visitors observing him. They were just casually standing around in the foyer.
He nodded in their direction and walked into the elevator and waited for the door to close. He was relieved when he reached his floor and nobody else had entered the lift.
“Were those people talking about me or is it just my imagination?” he asked himself as he unlocked the door of his suite. He locked again as soon as he entered the private suite.
“Am I paranoid or is this an idea of what the future could hold for me? Constantly having to wonder about who’s watching me?”
