CHAPTER ONE. KYLIE.

ARIZ VAMPIRE KINGDOM.

The lights in the room turned on and she could hear approaching footsteps that woke her up coming towards her on the bed. She was lying on the bed sleeping, it was still early and she needed her beauty sleep. The owner of the feet stopped very close to her and she could sense that whoever it was had their eyes on her. But she did not turn around to see who it was, though she was awake, she pretended to be sleeping.

"Kylie." The owner of the footsteps spoke.

That was her name and she could recognize that voice. The smooth and melodious voice of her stepmother, Alicia. Though she heard her stepmother call her, she did not turn around or even pretend to just waking up. She laid still with her eyes closed and her breathing steady, an attempt to decieve the woman.

"Kylie." The woman called again.

She growled loudly, angrily even. She knew that the woman was very consistent and stubborn and was not going to let her be so easily, the best way to get rid of her was to wake up. She yawned loudly while she sat up on the bed, stretching her body and pretending to still be sleepy. She turned to the woman standing beside her and their eyes met, the woman's brown eyes were sharp and looking down at her, the woman's beauty was irresistible.

"Get up, your father seeks you in his chambers." The woman's melodious voice rang again.

"Chambers? What for?" Kylie asked once again.

Her father usually summons for her presence in the throne room and for him to ask to be seen in his chambers was confusing. But the woman did not answer her, she turned around and as elegant as she could, walked out of Kylie's room.

Kylie puffed and rolled her eyes. She had never liked Alicia and she was never going to like her. The woman had come into their lives some years after her mother's death, she was her father's new mate and though Kylie did not like the woman, there was nothing she could do about her. Slowly but surely, the woman had stolen her father's love away from her, but she did not care, she was no little girl who needed a father's love. She was a woman now.

Frustrated and angry, Kylie slowly got out of bed and made her way into her bathroom. She came out of the bathroom after some minutes, she had taken her bath and when she left the bathroom, she went into the closet. After dressing up, Kylie left the closet. She was wearing a black flowing gown, it had a turtle neck and long sleek sleeves. A beaded necklace sat on her neck and two diamond earrings hooked on her ears, her black hair was tied behind her in a bun. She looked at her reflection in the standing mirror that sat at the corner of her room one last time, satisfied with her beauty, she walked out of her room.

A knock on the door.

"Come in." A melodious feminine voice answered.

She pulled at the door knob and when the door opened, she walked into the room. It was an extremely large room, a large luxurious, well made bed sat in the middle of the room and her father was lying on it. The two large windows in the room were covered with curtains and it gave the room a darker appearance. Her stepmother sat beside her father on the bed and the moment she walked in on that scenario, fear gripped her heart and soul. Her mind wondered away and she feared if her father was not alright.

She walked to her father on the bed and her stepmother stood up, giving her a space to sit beside her father on the bed. She looked at the man and he looked pale, like he hadn't drank blood for a while now and his lips looked dry and patched. Beads of sweat sat on his forehead and his brown eyes looked tired. Father and daughter stared at each other for a while and her father gave a faint smile.

"Are you alright father?" She asked her father.

"Yes, I'm fine. I only need blood Kylie. I've been too busy with the affairs of the kingdom that I forgot to go hunting, a pint of blood would make me fine." Her father's deep voice ran in the room.

She stood up immediately.

"I'll go hunting now for you father." She said.

"Bless you child." The man responded.

She turned around to leave the room and her eyes met her stepmother's. She glared at the woman and though no words were spoken, she knew that the woman understood her glare. It was a glare to tell the woman how useless she was to her and her father. She finally left the room and walked all the way out of the castle, walking to the human territory.

It was a long walk and when she got to the end of the kingdom, at the east where the portal to the human territory was, she closed her eyes and slowly walked into portal. The portal to the human territory was a brown circling mist, moving in an extremely fast circulating motion. It was brown because that was what the human territory was, the soil there was brown and rough and the colour of the mist signified the colour of the human earth.

She knew where she was going to find herself and when she opened her eyes, she found herself there. It was in the bushes, thick bushes that were enough to hide the presence of any one in them. Not too far from the bushes, the humans lived. Their houses were small but beautiful and the environment, relaxing. But she wasn't there to relax, she was there to hunt and hunt she was going to do.

With her vampire powers, it wasn't hard for her to conceal her presence and make herself invisible. Satisfied with her invisibility, she walked out of the bushes and walked to the houses of the humans. It was afternoon in the human world and she had to be fast. Walking briskly, she entered a house. The house was beautiful but quiet, it was like an abandoned place and Kylie was about to turn around and leave when she heard a faint heartbeat, it was extremely faint but it was there. She walked slowly, following the faint heartbeat and soon she found herself infront of a wooden door, she bursted the door open and when she went inside, she met a girl sitting on the bed, a young teenage girl. She was panting heavily and her heartbeat was clear now, she could not see Kylie and she was panicking.

"Hello, who is there?" The girl's sweet voice rang in the room.

The girl's voice reminded Kylie of her stepmother. Kylie turned visible again and she watched as the girl gasped in shock, her skin turned pale and white and her eyes rounded up in fear. Kylie smiled, that was what she wanted, that was what she loved to see. Fear, she loved to see people afraid of her. As she walked closer to the girl, she could hear her loud heartbeat increase and the girl was visibly shaking. She stood some feet away from the girl and smiled sweetly at her.

"It is just me sweetie, don't be scared." Kylie spoke softly.

The girl didn't calm down, she was still shaking and immediately, Kylie turned invisible again and attacked. She jumped on the girl, held her face still while exposing her neck and immediately sank her fangs into the girl's neck. The girl thrashed vigorously under Kylie as she sucked her blood.

The girl's blood was not going to be enough, not for her and her father. After leaving the girl on the bed, in the pool of her own blood, Kylie walked out of the house but it seemed like luck had smiled on her that day because immediately she stepped out of the house, she could see a human approaching the bushes she usually hide in. It was a male and she did not understand why he was going into the bushes but she knew one thing, he wasn't going to come out of it.

Still invisible, Kylie quickly walked towards the bushes. She got there before the human and it was not long before the man arrived and immediately he arrived, Kylie grabbed him by his throat. Her sharp, long nails dug into the man's skin and though he kicked and punched, she did not let go. She opened her mouth, showing the man her long and sharp fangs, he screamed and she laughed. Drawing him closer, she sank her fangs into his neck and sucked.

When she opened her eyes again, she was back at the kingdom, the dark environment was enough to convince her. She turned around and she could see the brown portal, she was certainly back home. She turned visible again and started walking back to the castle.
