"Tristan isn't that young immature boy that he was a few years ago but he is now the CEO of the entire Rowen Empire. I believe he will have his eyes on the bigger picture. He will not do anything that will ruin the image of the Empire you have protected for years..."
"I can see clearly that you don't know my little brother at all," He muttered as he stared at the open field in front of the house.
"Maybe you are the one who is overly worried..."
"Tristan!" Dominic exclaimed the instant he got a whiff of a familiar scent. He narrowed his eyebrows as he looked at the pathway leading to the mansion.
"What do you mean by Tristan?" The guy by his side questioned.
In haste, he followed his companion's line of sight with hopes of seeing what made him utter such a statement.
"Isn't he supposed to be on his business trip at the moment?" He quizzed, his eyes fixed on the pathway.
He was about to accuse Dominic of being paranoid when he saw a red car approaching the mansion.
'He is right... It really is Tristan!'
He declared even before the car reached proximity.
"Why don't we find out for ourselves why he is back so soon," He muttered. He swivelled and walked into the house.
He was about to turn to his right so he could make his way to the entrance when a running Tristan almost collided with him.
"Hey, watch where you are going dude or you are gonna injure yourself?" Thomas who caught up to Dominic not long ago scolded the flustered Tristan.
"I am sorry Bro, it wasn't intentional," He apologised in a hurried tone and turned to run off but Dominic's hands were faster than him.
"Where are you running off to like you are being chased?" He started his cold stares on his little brother's face.
"Also, your business trip was supposed to last for at least five days so why are you back on just your third day..."
"Bro, I am in a rush at the moment. Can we talk about this later?" Tristan suggested. Dominic wasn't given the chance to say anything and yet he turned to scurried away.
"And why should we treat the topic later when we can do it now?" Dominic retorted. He refused to release his hand despite the displeasure on Tristan's face.
"Bro..." Tristan grunted, annoyance written all over his handsome face.
"Tris, did you get yourself into any sort of trouble? Is that why you are hesitant to tell your brother about it..."
"I am not some troublemaker Tom so don't give me that look because I did nothing of such..."
"Then tell me why you returned earlier when the deal should have been sealed on the fifth day?" Dominic insisted.
Not even Tristan's frown made him yield to him.
"Yes, the trip was supposed to last for five days but I couldn't see myself waiting for another day not to mention two days when I learned about the news of her return..."
"Whose return?" Dominic and Thomas chorused. They exchanged puzzled balances as if they had read each other's minds.
"And that was why I sorted out all the important works overnight," He started in a calmer tone.
"I left the rest to Asher because I knew he was more than capable of handling it..."
"You didn't answer my question Tristan... whose news of return made you hurry back when you should be the one overseeing all the activities there?" Dominic questioned, his expression and tone became colder than it was earlier.
Although he already guessed the answer, he desperately wished he got it all wrong.
Tristan, who knew his brother better than anyone, was smart enough not to reply to his question knowing too well what his next actions would be.
"You were so eager to get away earlier, don't tell me you aren't in a rush anymore huh?" Dominic taunted as he released Tristan's hand at last.
"Nic, please..."
"Don't touch me," Dominic growled and shoved Thomas' hands away.
"Say something Tristan except you want to see me do something nasty..."
"I hurried back because I heard Giavanna had returned!" He blurted, his hands folded behind his back.
"Did you say you hurried back here after leaving such an important trip that would determine the future of our Empire in the care of Asher just because of her..."
"Bro, you know exactly what she means to me so why are you talking as if she is a nobody..."
"And that woman you are talking about is currently married," Dominic snarled, his index finger pointed at his brother's face.
"If you learned about the news of her return you should have also known that she returned to her husband right..."
"That doesn't matter..."
"Hey!" Dominic lost it and yelled at him. For a minute there Thomas was scared of what would happen if Tristan kept provoking his elder brother.
"You..." the furious Dominic paused what he wanted to say. He raised his hands and placed them on Tristan's shoulders.
"Tristan, no matter how much importance you accord her... even if you make her your heaven and Earth it won't change the fact that you are a nobody to her. I doubt you even exist in her memories anymore," Dominic started, his grip around Tristan's shoulder becoming firmer.
"The sooner you get rid of your obsession for her the better for everyone..."
"My love for her is not an obsession, Bro," Tristan corrected as he stared into his brother's angry eyeballs; something he rarely does on a normal day.
