Danger comes with Death

CHAPTER 13

-PART ONE-

"Danger comes with Death; Loss comes with Guidance; Fortune go on its own"

Dust collected everywhere as far as the naked eye could see, spider webs wove loosely around books, dirtied shelves, and stands, a merely busted lamps hung from weathers, braided wires that were embedded into to cracked ceiling.

This place was pretty old.

The ground was littered with either glass, books, and torn paper. The crevices in the wall allowed small amounts light to filter inside along with thin ropes of ivy. Dust floated lazily in the air causing them a sort of difficult time breathing, and every step put more of it in to the air.

Gross.

All that was heard were the faint chirps of birds outside, the scurrying feet of invisible rodents, and the rustling of papers catching the draft. Row after row of neatly lined up books with their spines facing outward, color coded with dots, fiction section arranged in alphabetical order, young adults section, children's section with low shelves and floor cushions, comfortable leather arm chairs, tables for quiet study, muffled stillness, librarian at help desk, hushed atmosphere punctured by the occasional child's laugh, coarse cheap carpet on the floor, computers for doing book searches, for surfing the web, people with automotive laptops, tutors and students, posters for book club on the wall, toddlers singing and story group, wall of magazines, shelves of CD's and a mysterious strange rack full of vintage newsprints.

Place for nerds.

The bookcase with its inky treasures adorned the quiet room, quiet in that sense of easy solitude and in the sense of gentle seaside hues, soft blues, greys and browns. The wood of the bookcase looked for all the world as if it had washed up on a beach, as if was once a part of a mighty sailing ship. Yet now it sits in its forever harbor, in that soulful bay that is the corner of this room. The bookcase was made all the more beautiful by the raw bark on the edges. It brought nature into their home, a reminder that they were still part of the living world. Just like the rest of the room it was just something Opal had picked up at random. It was old and basic but it still had integrity. Wood was straight and it hugged the wall. Closer inspection could see scratches, a little paler where it had been dinged. Touching the roughness, not minding one bit. It just made the piece all the more interesting, just like people's scars for they were always clues to a story. Heaved under the weight of the old volumes. Unlike its precious cargo the shelves were cheap fiberboard, more equipped for the modern romance novels than the heavy words of the philosophers from antiquity.

I saw something!

My thoughts and wondering stops. Something strange. The books on the left side isn't flat or organize like it should be, it was brokenly arranged.

Terrible arrangements

I crouch down to detect if someone was following us, it's like nothing but hundred percent sure that something was strange in this place. I never smelt that scent before, not bitter, not sweet, not like pollution.

Danger.

Taking my dagger and pretend I didn't notice anything strange. Taking a deep breath and decided to walk towards the direction of the shadow. I walk surely and just slower. I can't take my eyes off the direction, listening and watching attentively while holding my little knife secretly.

All is quiet.

"Hey! –"

"Jesus Christ Knight-Lock! You almost give me heart attack!" I hissed and hold his hands to manage myself.

"Woah! Woah! Relax—"

"How can I relax? I saw something strange" I stated while catching my breath

"what?... strange? H-How?" he asked me

"I saw a shadow; someone might be following us" I carefully stated while observing the surrounding

"H-hey! Relax… I'm here… stop being too paranoid okay… besides, I already found what we need" he slowly walks towards my direction with a smile on his face as if he was not worried about anything.

Am I just being paranoid?

How can you be this happy?

"A book?... I thought we're looking for some prints or tabloid maybe newsprints?... but a book?" I try to say it sarcastically and try looking at him as if he was the weirdest man in that place, instead of hearing an argumentative statement from him he just chuckles and laugh softly.

I can't take my eyes off the direction.

I'm trembling!

"yep! A book is all we need… this velvet leather book contains all historical happenings that happened on the year 1820… viola! Instant answer for our concerned inquiries" he stated with a persuasive tone.

It was several hundred merely coffee colored pages, gentle to the fingertips. Upon them was the wisdom of soul; those feelings of excitement channeled through great knowledge and a lifetime of meditative contemplation. Ink was the liveliness, it's merely elegant times new roman fonts, how its synapses danced as if it has rhythm. It was what a person could accomplish in decades if its soul was forever as pure as a crystal. Having a simple earthy hued cover, warming to the eyes, comforting.

"1820 concepción de la catástrofe" he whispers as he reads the title printed in embossed manner.

"conception of catastrophe" mocking softly

"what do you mean conception?" he asked

"it was like a birth of destruction… birth of rapture… birth of disarray… a war" I manage to make my voice clear though I can sense that after reading those words my system is trembling and the adrenaline flows throughout my veins.

"Jesus Christ!" he exclaimed towards my statement.

Walking carefully towards the hallway which leads us to the hide-out making sure that no one was following us yet I can sense him.

He's following us!

"How can Drain put us in this kind of shitty situation… fucker!" he hissed as we walk towards hide-out. "Wait! Where are we heading?"

"Jesus Christ! Where are we heading? This is where the killing scenes happened just like in any other horror movies!!" he kept hissing as if he was a retard insect.

"Shut up! He might hear us! He's following us!" I whisper dragging his hand and walk as fast as I could.

"What!? Who?" he asked carefully but I didn't bother to answer instead I just walk and focus on my instinct.

"Hey! Who's with us?"

"answer me"

"Lycko"

"stop scaring me"

"jesus!"

I suddenly stop as I heard a thudding sound

"Shit!" I hissed

"fuck what was that!" he exclaimed

"someone is following us… that was the thing I saw… that was that strange thing I tell you before!" I said trying to calm my trembling self.

The approaching footsteps was like someone who has not learnt to walk quietly and instead relies on the verges to muffle steps. Each footfall is chaotically spaced from the last, no rhythm at all. Whoever it is lacks confidence, is likely scared. It was neither a threat or interest. Whoever is coming up the passageway is either large and heavily armed maybe not alone, maybe a gang who considers themselves untouchable. Whilst slink in the shadows in soft soled shoes this person allows their footsteps to echo off the all over the way announcing their arrival to all in a several hundred-meter radius. Approaching footsteps clip-clopped down the bleached tile hallway. I couldn't imagine a librarian wearing such impractical shoes, there was a crunch of gravel behind, not the kind of continuous noise you'd get from a rolling car, but the defined short crunch of a footstep. The darkness pressed in as fought the urge to turn around yet I froze. Then there came another crunch, this time lighter and slower as if the maker of the noise was trying to be quieter, to sneak up on us perhaps.

"Lycko!" he hissed, realizing I froze on that very moment after hearing the continuous thudding of footsteps.

He holds my hand and drags me as he ran yet each footstep scattering stones as it hit the floor and sinking in like we we're running in sand, each step pulling us down a little before we could spring forward away from the attacker.

I can't breathe!

What's happening to me?

I feel dizzy!

I can't barely move

I can't run yet I want to!

"Hey! Princess go back to your senses hey!... I need you!" he slaps me a little yet my sight becomes blurry, it was like I couldn't move an inch.

Is this because of the footsteps?

Am I threatened?

I don't have any idea what's happening!

Something stuck on my neck!

"M-my N-neck!" I manage to whisper a word as I feel an itchy sensation throughout my neck.

"P-poison?" he worriedly speaks after removing a tiny metal injection that stuck on my neck

"A-Arip-piprazole" last word escaped to my mouth.

"A-Arip-piprazole" last word escaped to her mouth before she closed her eyes

"oh! Damn it! Damn it! Wake up Lycko! come on!" I slapped her a little making her system awake but there was no sign of being conscious. Her lips turned into bloodless pale and sweats suddenly pop all throughout her face.

Lock! Damn you! Think wiser!

I quickly put the book on my waist and tries to carry Lycko, as I succeed on my plans I walk on the other side of the hallway straight through the parking lot. Kept on dialing Price' cellphone to ask for help.

"I must be hurry" motivating myself as I continue walking with all my strength and senses.

"Hello, Price Williams how may I help you?" he finally answers his phone after a hundreds of missed calls

"Fuck! Why took you so long?" I hissed

"Oh! Chill I'm busy gathering stuffs related on my task okay! Chill" he explains trying to convince me

"I need—" I didn't finish what I'm about to say when the thudding footsteps echoed all throughout the hall again. Walking hurriedly trying to save our lives from whoever demonic asshole who wants to eliminate us from the world.

"Hey! Bro! are you still there? What happened?" Price asks from another line

"shit" I cursed out of irritations, I can't manage to speak.

I'm not in the mood to deal with this one!

Lycko hold on!

"Hey! Where are you? Lycko said we should rescue you if you're in trouble--" he speaks between lines

"Damn it! Price! I'm not the one who needs your care! It's your sister she's unconscious fuck! S-someone Injects her something and became like this! Fuck I don't fucking know what to do! Track my location using---" I didn't manage to finish my explanation when suddenly a man came out from nowhere.

Different from the hero that works from a sense of love and duty, a desire to protect others, a willingness to take on suffering if it keeps others safe. Uses their aggression for noble purpose; they develop self-control and an ability to do the harder thing when it is the right thing to do. This man in front of me was like the villain who has only desire for power and money, think nothing of making others suffer, so long as gain advantage. Aggression is destructive because of lack empathy, made choices for emotional coldness, those who have infinite paper cuts to the soul. The villain that wallows in its own sense of victimhood rather than using its pains as part of emotional education toward an empathic self.

"W-Who are you?" with all courage, I manage to speak.

"Who are you?" Lock speaks between the lines

"Hey! Who's with you?" I ask nervously

"What happened brother?" Gray ask me

"L-Lycko and Lock they're in trouble!" I stated furiously as I ended the line

"H-how?!" he asked

"I-I don't fucking have any idea how and why!" I mocked out of disbelief. Heading straight towards the monitor. "We need to track them, activate their trackers!" I can't manage to relax knowing that my sister and her best friend was in trouble.

"Hey let me handle that… just relax okay… it might take just a sec!" Gray take the monitor with force and let me to sit on the table.

Walking back and front, my system was furiously on its adrenaline stage, I am worried.

I don't want to lose her

I can't lose her

She's our everything

"Is everything okay?" As the door opens, the great Pendelton came out from it.

"Really!? Knight-drain!" Gray stated while he was busy taking down the location of the two. "We should listen to her! We should stick together instead of working apart! Fuck! How can we manage not to be on her side! she's in danger asshole! Thanks to you!" he sarcastically stated, hearing the tacking sound of his keyboard.

"This is all your fucking fault douche!" Furiously walks towards his direction and aggressively grab his shirt.

"W-what?!... what are you talking about?" He seems nervous and innocent yet I can't manage my anger.

"My sister and your brother was in fucking trouble!" I shout out of anger

"how am I supposed to deal with that? I'm not the one who cause that!" he hissed.

"How can you be so relaxed? Maybe it was your plan right? Maybe you want us to be the fucking bait for all your selfish plans!" I mocked straightly on his asshole face

"Finally! They're at the subway station?!" Gray shouted with a confusion in his tone

"The tunnel?" I whisper

"wait what are they doing in that place?!" Gray murmur

"It doesn't matter!" I shouted

"let it pass Price, he's not worth it. Let's go save our sister!" - Gray

"If something wrong happens to my sister I swear to your God I'll fucking kill you! Asshole!" I shouted and get the keys

"I regret accepting you because she loves you! You're not worthy of her love" Gray stated angrily.

Heading towards the parking hall, preparing the pocket guns putting enough bullets and making sure that the pocket knives are able to use.

"Danger comes with Death!"
