Rune Inscription

A whole month had passed since the Goblin dungeon raid and Peter had finally managed to hastily break into the 5th stage of the Novice Rank. He had completely underestimated his own capabilities as such rapid growth was unheard of.

This helped to boost his strength by a lot as his mana reserve expanded again. He predicted taking his rapid growth into account.

3 months to reach the 6th stage and 4-5 months to reach the 7th stage. At that point his mana core would have the same mana reserves as a proficient rank cultivator.

Since Peter had perfected the use of all his spells and techniques, he finally decided to learn inscription. Whilst Noah still focused on completely learning the series of moves for the second form of the Soul Reaper Martial arts.

Noah's comprehension speed in martial arts was unmatched so for him to take this long to comprehend a martial art only expressed how powerful a 5 star martial art.

Since the first technique was a movement technique, it was much easier to master. However, the second form was a series of deadly attacks that required intricate control of mana with every swing. If a single move was performed wrong, the effectiveness of the martial art would decrease and Noah was a hardcore perfectionist.

Peter sat down in the library with the translated Inscription books in front of him.

He scanned his fingers along the bumps in the page, reading and focusing on understanding the content at the same time.

The first chapter of the inscription basics book explained what runes were and summarized how the Abyssal Tyrant's inscription methods were different to the normal methods.

His inscription method was much harder to master than normal methods that only required mana and a symbol to create a rune.

The Abyssal Tyrant's inscriptions required the user's own blood and will. His runes were specifically bonded to him and were forged out of his own speck of blood, giving the properties unique properties.

Peter decided he would begin his first inscriptions when he had covered the basics of inscription first. Only then would he practise the orthodox inscription method, and after he had mastered that, he would finally begin working on The Abyssal Tyrant's unique method.

It only took Peter a couple days to fully memorize and comprehend the basics of Rune Inscription. Now he only needed to learn all the different symbols, he was lucky that some of the symbols were similar to the ones used in Magic Circles that he had learned before.

Ella helped him learn the Inscription alphabets by guiding his hands for each stroke. Although it took long for Peter to learn each alphabet for inscribing runes, his comprehension speed allowed him to memorize each stroke very quickly.

After 2 weeks of learning and perfecting each symbol, he began the creation of his first rune. He wanted to create a simple motion detection rune. It would act as a detector on the ground that would sense movement on the ground over a range of 20 meters. Any movement in this 20 meters would alert him.

Boom.

'Another failure.' Peter shook his head, feeling the pieces of the rune in his hand. He just couldn't get the wiring of the mana correct. Although the symbols were important, he also had to find the perfect balance of mana concentration that would run through the different parts of the rune.

Peter tossed his hundredth failure aside, grabbing another slate to draw on.

After a couple days of trial and error, he managed to make his first rune. He then began mass producing them for further practice; this took him another two days. He planned to place the runes in the Earth near the exit points of the inheritance Ground. There was always the risk of people finding this place out and he didn't have the power to protect this place yet.

Although Ella had reassured him several times that there was a safety and defense mechanism, it never fully eased Peter's worries.

It took him 3 months to fully learn the rest of the basic runes, making him a Rune Apprentice. He also didn't forget to focus on his cultivation, his martial arts and especially on growing his shadow army. Things were moving perfectly as planned.

There were different stages of being a runist.

The ranks were as follows:

Apprentice

Intermediate

Advanced

(Master)

The rankings went up with the difficulty of the runes the person is able to produce. The title Rune master was only given to those who had mastered an unorthodox rune inscription method or pathway like The Abyssal Tyrant - he held the title of Rune Master.

Peter was excited to start reading and analyzing The Abyssal Tyrant's inscription method but before that he was focused on perfecting the basics for a couple more days. He wanted to cement his foundation before tackling this new and unorthodox rune inscription method.

4 more days passed before Peter finally picked up his first book, written by the Abyssal Tyrant.

The first couple chapters were short but direct to the point. It explained new important parts of his unorthodox method. It followed three important factors: The master's blood (to bind the rune to the creator), a lot of mana and a purified pellet.

The Abyssal Tyrant's main inscription method, taught an interesting method that could cause a person to never run out of mana theoretically.

He created mana absorbing runes that he would bind to his body and implant them into his body. The runes would constantly replenish their own mana source whilst also pumping his own body with mana.

'So this was why he was able to become such a strong cultivator. He used this freakish method to gain a quasi infinite mana trait. There are also different grade mana absorbing runes he created. If I can even implant one of those in my body, my mana issue will be reduced.

'There are 6 different grade runes he designed, one for each cultivation rank. It seems that it's possible to implant oneself with several runes, but the risk of damaging the meridians (vessels that carry mana) increase. Interesting.' Noah, brainstormed his thoughts of the peculiar method and couldn't help but be amazed by what an outlandish and freakish method the Abyssal Tyrant had created to raise in power.

The requirements for the first implantation was for the cultivator to be at least in the 7th stage of the Novice Stage before even thinking to implant Grade 1 Rune, which was the lowest.

This would take him another couple of months, before he could reach the 7th stage. He was already increasing his cultivation stages at an astonishing speed. Peter was convinced that he would be able to reach the 6th stage by the end of the year, but the 7th stage was looking out of his reach for the time being, even with his rapid growth.

'Okay. Let's get practicing!' Peter cracked his knuckles, teleporting to the Abyssal Tyrant's inscription room. Ella also appeared by his side to assist in any way she could.
