Evaluation Exam II

"Welcome. Mr Magtris, I am Professor Severus and I will be overseeing your abilities today. Please have a seat." A middle aged man in his late 30's spoke, sitting opposite a desk.

Peter nodded and sat down as instructed in front of the Professor. From the mana fluctuations he could slightly feel from the man, he was extremely powerful. Although Peter couldn't gauge the man's power level, he could still feel an invisible pressure being emitted from him.

"Your first test will be an academic baseline test. You will conduct 2 tests and as you're blind, the questions are in braille. You have 2 hours to finish these questions. Recite the question number and the answer to Friday and he will insert an answer in the online test, so we can mark the answers instantly. Okay begin."

Two test papers were slid in front of Peter. Instinctively, he opened the test papers and began moving his fingers over the dots. Each letter or word had a different combination of dots and the way Peter was moving line by line and voicing out the answers, before moving on to the next question, professor Severus could do nothing but be astonished.

In half an hour Peter had finished the first test paper and moved on to the next. The first test paper consisted of various topics about mana, how it raised, what cultivation was etc.

The second paper was more advanced and difficult. Most students left those questions out, leaving them unanswered. In Peter's case, he only had to sit and think for a couple seconds before answering the questions unlike the first paper, which he speed ran through.

When he finished the paper and the results of the 2 papers appeared on a holographic screen in front of professor Severus, he only sat in silence with his mouth wide open in shock.

'What the- Full marks?? And he only took an hour? I need to remember this kid.' He thought, clearing his throat and telling Peter his score.

"Congratulations. You have scored full marks on both papers. You have been rewarded 100/100 points for this exam.

"Your next exam will be a potential valuation. Please place your hands on the glass orb in front of you." He instructed.

Peter felt delighted about acing the first exam but shook his jolly mood to a serious and focused one, realizing he still had to do 4 more exams. He felt around and found a cold glass orb. Placing his hand on it, he waited until suddenly the orb started pulling all of his mana out of the tiny mana core at a rapid rate.

He gritted his teeth, bearing the pain the rapid mana depletion was causing him. After a couple seconds the pain stopped and the instructor finally spoke.

"You may take your hands off the orb."

Peter removed his hand from the orb, sitting back in his chair and attentively waiting for his result.

"I will now read out the results and give you points based on the results of this exam.

Mana core rank: 1st stage, Novice Rank

Magic Affinity: None

Mana Efficiency: Below Average

Mana Control: Poor

Overall Potential Rating: <E>.

"I must say I am a little disappointed. Your theory was outstanding but this, it's a pretty bad rating. I think it's the worst I've seen today. I'm going to be generous and give you 15 points out of a 100 for this exam."

Peter's heart sank at the sudden revelation. He was hoping he'd at least have an elemental affinity but no… he didn't even have a single element! Was he really cursed? Was he bound to only use chore magic for the rest of his life?

The professor caught Peter clenching fists tightly and took that as a cue to keep going with the tests.

"We will now be conducting an aptitude test. It will be in the same format as the first Theory exam."

Peter sighed, getting ready for the 3rd exam. One couldn't revise for an aptitude test as the answers were never the same for each question. However, Peter still managed to learn the patterns in the mark scheme for what they would want as an answer.

"3…2…1… Begin."

The sound of a clock ticking began and Peter's fingers began brushing past the lines of braille, voicing out answers to Friday as he moved on without stopping till he got to the last 2 questions of the test.

[Would you cripple your cultivation to save your parents?]

Peter waited and thought about the funny question. Although his parents weren't the best, they never abused or harmed him; they just singled him out without saying anything. Would they treat him better if he wasn't blind and unable to cultivate?

"Skip."

He couldn't make a decision just yet about something like that; it wasn't in his good nature to just kill off his parents but was it worth enough to cripple his cultivation life?

He moved on to the last question and smiled at the question.

[If you could bring anyone back from the dead, who would you bring back and why?]

'My brother of course.' He thought, reminiscing the delightful memories he had with his late brother. However, he didn't want to answer this question or the previous one.

"Skip."

"Would you like to go over the skipped questions?" Friday asked in a monotonous voice.

"No."

"Would you like to end the test?"

"Yes."

"Test complete."

The professor waited a couple seconds before the results popped up on a hologram. He sighed deeply, voicing out the results.

"You have received 54% in the Mage Aptitude test placing you in band 3 out of the 5 bands. Therefore, I will be grading you 50 points.

"We'll be moving onto the penultimate test now." The professor clicked his fingers and the table Peter was resting his hands on disappeared and the whole room changed into a large 400 meter by 400 meter white combat hall.

As Peter got up from the seat, realizing their location had changed. The chair also vanished and only the Professor and Peter were left in the room.

"I want you to perform either 1 complete Combat form of a martial art or 2 incomplete forms." The professor instructed.

Peter knew this was coming but he still wasn't prepared. He had been practicing the first 2 forms of the Ju-Moobong martial art but he hadn't improved much since the time he started practicing the forms.

This was due to his lack of compatibility for fighting. His body had great potential due to the purification of the Legendary Healing pill but Peter couldn't use his Body capabilities properly. As a result he always made many mistakes and occasionally tripped over his own feet when performing the combat forms.

It really looked like he'd just have to take an academic route and become a scholar or pursue a boring researching profession. That was something he dreaded and hoped he wouldn't ever have to do.

Peter took in a deep breath before executing the first couple moves of the Ju-Moobong's first form. Every kick and punch was imperfect and lacked the beauty the actual form showed. The professor could only watch in disappointment; he had high hopes for the young boy, named Peter Magtris.

Scoring Full marks in the theory exam was nothing to be overlooked. Even second year students probably wouldn't be getting full marks. However, his other exams were poor; his high hopes of finding a prodigious disciple was crushed.

When Peter finished his last move, signalling the end of the 2 forms. The professor waited for him to catch his breath, before revealing the results.

"You're still at the beginner levels of the Ju-Moobong martial art. You made a lot of mistakes and your punches and kicks were sloppy even though the first 2 forms are meant to be the easiest to follo-" The professor stopped mid sentence realizing that Peter was blind, so he must have learnt the first 2 forms by listening to an audio file. He wanted to voice out his opinion but knew that would be disheartening to the hard working boy.

"I'm giving you a score of 29 points."

At this rate, Peter was going to be in the bottom classes for sure.

"Okay, your final exam will be a fitness test. Your speed, strength, agility and stamina will be tested. You're allowed the use of mana for this exam."

The location changed again to an athletics track.

"First I'll test your speed. You will do a 100m dash. Then an Illinois Agility test. A grip test and lastly a long distance run that will be timed."

Peter nodded and got into a sprinting position. When he heard the countdown and a gunshot, he sprinted forwards with sloppy sprinting form.

'14.3 seconds. Pretty good.'

"Next test…"

A while had passed and he was already on the last test. Sweat poured down Peter's cheek as he laid on the ground, his chest heaving up and down. He was utterly drained of energy and he didn't know if he could even move another muscle.

"Here, drink this. It will rejuvenate your energy. I will now read out your final score, then your overall score out of 500 and the class you will be put in."

Peter took the bottle of red liquid and chugged down the strawberry flavoured drink. He felt some of his energy return and the fatigue in his muscles lessen. He got up from the ground and faced the professor in anticipation.

"Your score for the fitness test was 39/100. Your overall score out of 500 was 233 placing you into the bottom 10% of the first Year Students. You have been put in class 49, the second lowest First Year Class. I hope to see you again, next time in a classroom." The Professor smiled briefly and clicked his fingers, taking them both back to the first room with the desk and 2 chairs.

"Thank You for giving me your time." Peter bowed, before exiting the room.

He sighed deeply, knowing his life was just about to get 10 times worse.
