Plus, without the sun's radiance smiting the region it would probably take months to maybe years before those chunks of ice would melt.

Moreover, this was not considering the fact that his creations could now absorb the mana around them. With this in consideration, it was safe to conclude that those massive chunks of ice would never melt.
