Prologue

"mmm" Alexa moaned in delight as she munched the pancakes Olivia made " you should register for the upcoming cooking competition I'm sure you would win".

Olivia chuckled and said " you and I know who's the better cook here, you make the best meals and I'd say you should open a restaurant".

" I don't have enough money and I can't borrow a loan because I don't have a presentable collateral".

"We could use this house as one, I have hope in you and I'm sure you would make it before the time for the loan will expire" Olivia said making a puppy face

"Come off it" Alexa said as she snapped her fingers "I didn't study that in school".

"Yeah right? And you have gotten a job in accordance to what you studied" Olivia teased.

" At least I've got a job, I know the pay isn't enough but it's something to be grateful for" she replied looking sad.

"It's ok bestie everything will fall in place someday okay? There's no cause to be sad we just have to keep trying" they both continued to eat in silence.

After eating, Alexa did the dishes while Olivia cleared the table.

Alexa Clarkson, a 23 years old lady, average in height with a shapely figure that fitted her imp thin body, olive skin and ebony black hair. She is the only child of her parents whom she knew nothing about, she was told they lost their lives in a ghastly accident and they all died. She was raised by Olivia's mum, studied mechanical engineering and graduated with a first class but couldn't get a job in the field of mechanical engineering although she had secured a job in a restaurant and a mechanic shop down her street sometimes she helps her coach train people in his gym house and she gets paid.

Although her pay wasn't enough to give her the good life she wanted, she had her bestie who read buisness Admin and was able to secure a job in that biggest and richest company in California and of course that was due to the connection her family had But she wouldn't depends on her.

Once she was done with the dishes, she picked up her backpack and jogged down to the mechanic shop where she worked, on getting there she saw a sign post saying "closed" unable to process what was going on she took out her phone and dialed her boss's number, it rang but no answer she was dailing the number again when a message popped in, it was from her boss it read;

"Dear Alexa I'm sorry this message is being relayed this way but it was also sudden to me. It is actually something I have hidden from everyone for months but my son found out and I'm being taken to India for heart surgery as it stands now I'm a plane heading to India, you are a very diligent, kind and hardworking girl I hope you get a better job my son have already sent your pay for the next few months I hope it would help throughout your job search period".

Alexa's heart sank as she read the text Although the pay wasn't much, she enjoyed working with Mr Rogers.

Another message popped up this time it was an alert

"OMG" she exclaimed covering her mouth with her hand to prevent screaming "$2000?? Wow Mr Roger's son must be very generous i can't imagine having my 10 months salary in one day"

But still she would miss Mr Rogers and her job, there's just one job THE RESTAURANT.

she went home and flopped herself on the bed hoping to get some sleep but her mind kept replaying the incidents that took please earlier then she dozed off.

" clang" Alexa jumped off her bed as she heard a sound downstairs it's too early for Olivia to be back so she picked up her baseball bat and and ran downstairs on getting to the edge of the stairs, she met her best friend trying to pick up a plate which supposedly fell off the table

"Damn"Olivia you startled me she said trying to catch her breath " I could have given you an extra head with this, aren't you supposed to be at work what are you doing home by this time?"

" I should be asking you that Alexa you're supposed to be at work too did you decide to take a break or you weren't able to get over our conversation this morning?" She asked looking concerned

" no no no no it's not that okay? fine I'll explain to you"

"You had better do that"

Alexa explained everything that happened that morning.

"Ohh" Olivia mouthed in disbelief. "That's Soo sudden but it's okay at least now you can work full time at the restaurant they have been requesting for that remember?" Olivia said trying to cheer her up

yeah I guess so too" she said as she stood up to go prepare for work that evening.

She flagged down a taxi that took her to the restaurant, on getting there, she paid him and got off.

At work, she made sure not too cook on that day as she didn't want to misplace ingredients and end up preparing a concoction instead she switched duties with one of the chefs and took orders instead that still didn't help because she kept misplacing orders.

Her boss noticed it and asked her to take the night off although she didn't want to, she had to of course she could use the break so she gathered her things and went home.

Back at home she was having lunch when her phone rang, it was Andrew her boyfriend she picked it up

" Hi princess how are you doing" he asked with a cheerful voice.

"I'm good " she answered trying not to let him notice that she wasn't all that okay

"Ohh okay you know we haven't spent time together in a long time so I thought maybe you could do me the favour of going out on a dinner date with me tonight" he said hoping for a positive answer.

"Ohhh that err.. I'm sorry babe I'll pass "

" Why babe ? We haven't been together in long time don't you miss me? Or is that you don't love me anymore?"

" No dear it's not that, I'd love to spend time with you it's just that I'm stressed " she said hoping he would feel better.

"Okay babe but please don't overwork yourself please"

"Sure babe I need to sleep now goodnight okay?"

"Okay babe good night I love you"

"I love you too" Alexa hung up and proceeded to do the dishes after which she went to bed.

Olivia was out on a date with her lifelong crush so she needed not wait for her.
