Chapter 9: They Met Years Ago, They're Together Now

"W-what did he do?" Luka's voice trembled with shock upon learning about his father's actions. "He used Michael's key? But the key is supposed to be his wings! It's impossible to use his wings without permission!"

It was the first night of The Blood Fight story, and Luka was already on the verge of a breaking down.

Xavier looked down, meeting Luka's magnificent silver-blue eyes. He sighed, trying to find a way to explain the situation that wouldn't overwhelm his soulmate. "It is possible if you have a witch near you."

"A witch?" Luka struggled to keep up with Xavier's revelations. "In Heaven's mansion?"

"Technically, there should be no witch in Heaven's mansion," Xavier clarified, placing a comforting hand on Luka's shoulder in case he became overwhelmed by the new information. "But that doesn't hold true if the witch is someone's soulmate…"

"M-mom?" Luka's pure heart couldn't handle the weight of these revelations. "M-my mom is a w-witch?"

"Yes, she is the second child of the Silver family. Julia Patricia Silver, daughter of Lord Joseph Charles Silver," Xavier explained gently, trying to remain calm for Luka's sake. "That might explain the silver in your eyes. I believe Julia shares the same eye color as you."

"So, the silver in my eyes is actual silver?" Luka found it peculiar to think about. "And it comes from my mother? Does that mean a part of me is a… wizard?"

"I believe so, but we can't be certain until you exhibit some magical abilities," Xavier replied, struggling to maintain control.

His soulmate was innocent and beautiful, and he longed to touch him, but he was bound by his orders. "Every wizard possesses unique powers and spells. According to the myths we've heard, their specialties emerge when they need the power the most."

"Okay…" Luka gazed at Xavier with the same passion and love, surprising even Lucifer. "I don't think I want to talk about myself anymore."

They sat together on the king-sized bed, their shoulders barely touching.

"Then should I leave?" Xavier mentally scolded himself for the uncertainty in his voice.

"Um… c-can you stay?" Luka's eyes drifted away from Xavier, focusing on his own hands.

"You want me to stay?" The devil's excitement and happiness were indescribable, though he didn't outwardly show it. His soulmate wanted him there!

Soulmates were destined to love each other unconditionally for eternity. Even the devil couldn't resist Luka's sweet nature and the power of their bond.

Xavier finally surrendered completely. They would be by each other's side for the rest of their lives, and Xavier couldn't fathom a better person to have by his side.

"I truly want you here," Luka confessed with a sheepish smile and an adorable blush coloring his beautiful face. "You're my soulmate, and I shouldn't have doubted you or questioned your trustworthiness. I was foolish to think you would hurt me. Now, the sky is clear, and all the clouds have vanished. Right now, I see the sun. I see the sun more clearly than ever, and it's all because of you. Thank you, Xavier."

Xavier didn't know what he expected from Luka, and he hadn't prepared himself for that confession. Yet, he didn't hesitate or stumble in his response, allowing himself to believe that their budding relationship was headed towards a brighter future.

"Luka…" Xavier began, unsure of his own words but determined to express himself. "You are the perfect person for me, and I want you to know that no matter what lies ahead, no matter the obstacles we may face, we can overcome them together. We can leave them all behind us."

Once Luka had fallen asleep, Xavier spooned his body and nestled his head against Luka's neck.

The intoxicating scent that emanated from Luka, reminiscent of vanilla and chocolate, filled his senses as he drifted off to sleep beside his soulmate.

It was the first time Xavier had slept next to his soulmate, and it felt incredible. He slept without a care in the world, dreaming of the sweetest day of his life—the day he met Luka for the first time, not knowing it was his soulmate.

"Mr. Stranger! Can you please give me my ball?" Luka looked up at the man sitting on a bench, dressed in black clothes and a long, dark grey coat. He had accidentally kicked his ball in the wrong direction.

Xavier glanced up and saw the weirdest five-year-old child he had ever laid eyes on.

The child's black hair appeared soft, and his blue eyes held a captivating mix of mystery and innocence.

Just why is a five-year-old's soul seem smarter than my thousand-year-old underlings? Xavier thought with an annoyed frown on his face.

"What were you playing?" Xavier asked in a neutral tone as he approached the child.

"I don't know. I just kicked the ball!" Luka's voice carried boundless energy. "Mr. Stranger, what's your name?"

Xavier handed Luka his ball, taking the opportunity to study the child carefully. He couldn't quite pinpoint what it was, but this little kid's soul made him curious. "Lucifer."

"Thank you, Mr. Lucifer!" Luka beamed, accepting the ball gratefully from the devil's hands. "I'm Luka, son of Samuel Johnson!" In those years, it was customary for everyone to introduce themselves by stating their father's name.

"Luka…" Xavier tried to comprehend why the child held such a powerful soul, even though he was a kid and a human.

Then he realized the familiarity that he felt when he inspected Luka's soul.

Firstly, Luka was the son of the angel who had shattered Xavier's life, yet that fact didn't matter to him because he could sense the connection between their souls.

Xavier's sharp mind deduced, from the sparks he felt in his body and soul, that this child would play a special role in his future—perhaps freeing him.

"Mr. Lucifer, my time is up! I should go, or Mama will be mad at me. It was a pleasure to meet you!" Luka grinned before darting toward the park's exit, clutching his black and gold ball in his hands.

In those days, even young children like five-year-old Luka were expected to possess politeness and wisdom, and Luka was no exception. Xavier, however, remained unaware of this fact.

He stood there for hours, mesmerized by his child's wise aura. From that moment on, Luka occupied Xavier's thoughts for centuries to come as he tried to figure out the mystery behind the child's unique soul.

And so, Xavier spent the rest of his immortal life patiently waiting for the chance to reunite with him, realizing after a while that he was going to be his soulmate and that's when he decided to devote his life to Luka—to break the curse that had bound them.
