Claudia sat before her dressing mirror, her fingers drumming lightly on her thigh as her makeup artist delicately applied foundation to her flawless skin.
Her reflection stared back at her, the epitome of composure and elegance, but inside, Claudia was unsettled.
She had been unsettled ever since Chloe told her about accusing Blake of rape and getting him arrested. And seeing the way Chloe had been avoiding her all day, she could tell something was wrong.
As though summoned by her thoughts, Chloe walked into the room and stood a few feet away, fiddling nervously with her hands, her usually confident demeanor replaced by a hesitance that did not go unnoticed by her mother.
