Chapter 2

BLESSING OR CURSE

"And that's pretty much how it happened. The Celestial wolf said I was chosen to be the next heir and carry their sacred bloodline but in order for that to happen, a sacrifice had to be made." Sera said as she continued narrating.

"The celestial wolf touched me on my forehead and a stream of magical power surged through me immediately, my once black wolf fur turned completely white and I was now labeled a celestial wolf with immense power but my price for it was a weak body. So my dear Nathaniel, that is how I became a celestial wolf, you must keep it a secret though."

Five year old Nathaniel stared at her with a blunt expression on his face as Sera blew on his forearm.

"No one's ever going to believe that y'know." He stated in his high pitched childish voice. He had been playing around the pack and house and accidentally tripped and fell and came running to her.

Years after the incident, Sera had become the Pack's herbalist known for her gentle touch and healing concoctions, she handled all their fevers and wounds. But she was set for an unfair life ever since the day her mother died, leaving her with this weak body and immense magical powers she couldn't even use at her will as she was ordained to keep it a secret.

The whole pack had made jest of her many a time labeling her as useless, even the burden of the whole thing got too much for her. Even talking to a five year old who didn't believe a word she said was comforting.

"I'm quite aware no one would believe me Nathaniel." She said, pressing on the herbal leaves she had grinded and placing it gently on the scrapes he got from his falling.

"Celestial wolves aren't real! Their all fantasy and rumors passed by the elders in the pack. You can't scare me Aunt Sera." Seraphine chuckled at this, even in all she had told him, and all his childish stubbornness, he didn't forget the fact that she was his best friend when it came to times like this. He fell and hurt himself often so he would spend hours on end with her thus the name; Aunt Sera.

"You're too young to not have any imagination, kid." She said whilst removing the herbs from his wound and covering it up with some band aid paper.

"There you go love, make sure you be…" Suddenly a sharp cough was forced out from her lungs cutting off what she was saying.

"Aunt Sera! Are you alright?" Nathaniel asked quickly running to her side. Sera continued coughing badly into her palms before she got the taste of metallic ting at the back of her throat and knew she had coughed out blood.

It was this body of hers, a body she knew that could not be healed by any herb or remedy she used, a body she had utterly been cursed with.

She remembered that the divinity she met had come to her as a blessing and Sera would go to someone else as a blessing as well.

All she knew was that this was nothing more than a curse, a curse that had been weighing her down ever since her mother left this world. It did her no good even once, the pack ridiculed her and the elders claimed she could do utterly nothing to support the Pack's proceeding and didn't need a wolf that could die at any minute in their pack.

She had been put on trial, a trial she didn't know the outcome of. If this was truly what they called a blessing, then, she didn't ever want to be it to anyone else.

They'd just go through as much pain.

She continued coughing while Nathaniel ran to bring her a glass of water. She weakly reached for her cabinet and swallowed some drugs she saw. They didn't do much but at least they relieved her to an extent.

The pain in her chest was sharp but started relieving as she took a seat on her arm rest and closed her eyes trying to collect her thoughts.

Her body was acting up too recently, of course she couldn't do everything that a normal wolf could easily do, but it wasn't this bad either. She could feel something was amiss somewhere.

One of her many powers was the ability to sense forces in her surroundings and it didn't just feel right.

"What exactly could it be?" She whispered, asking herself trying to conjure up some sort of answer to her inward question.

Nathaniel came running back in with a glass of water, "Aunt Sera! Aunt Sera! I got you some water." He started finally getting to her side and placing the glass of water on the table before them.

He wrapped his little arms around her neck and little years dribbled from his eyes. "Please don't fall sick, Aunt Sera."

She could tell how sincere he was and it just melted her heart to know that at least just one person in this entire pack truly cared for her.

"I'm fine Nathaniel. Thank you." Sera said, wrapping his small body in her arms returning his hug.

She then felt the tiny strands of hair on her skin stand and felt a low growl escape her. She pushed Nathaniel behind her as she stood to welcome the uninvited visitor.

She saw the knob of her door that led to the opening of her herbal clinic twist open then shortly appeared Cassian. The very Alpha of the pack and the same person who had agreed with the Elders unjustified reasons for putting her on trial.

She didn't know why, but she despised him, why was he the Alpha of the pack in the first place if he couldn't protect his subjects efficiently. She had done simply nothing than to be reborn with a weak body, she was already tired of being judged by it every single opportunity and needn't more first from the elders and certainly not the people pleasing Alpha of the pack.

"What is it you want?" Sera asked, her voice as cold as ice taking note of his trembling height. He looked at her with his soft brown eyes and she couldn't make a gesture of the kind of expression playing on his face.

"Your trial has been concluded."
