Breathing technique

A noisy snore echoed throughout the rundown apartment. It came to a sudden halt as the person's eyelids twitched. It slowly opened as the dull pupils gained clarity a moment later. It was Selena, who had been sleeping since yesterday.

The day was replaced by a night as the moonlight shone inside the rundown apartment through the wall cracks. Selena immediately sat up after her memories finally flooded in. Her eyes widened while having a shocked expression.

"How could I oversleep? He did not wake me up?" exclaimed Selena.

She was furious as her face reddened from the boiling blood accumulating on her head. She clenched her fist before she noticed a piece of paper lying at a table, which the legs had been broken into half.

There was a stone below the paper, as though it was intended to be placed since the paper was light and could be affected by the slight gush of the wind.

Selena extended her flawless arm, as her hand grabbed the paper tightly. She opened it with both of her hands, and read the content. Her furious facial expression gradually calms down before shaking her head in a helpless manner.

"This idiot! He should find better accommodation really! How could he let a Goddess like me live in such a garbage room where broken things are particularly common?" Selena grumbled.

She hopped out of the uneven sofa while peeking through the window where the glass was broken and looked old. The moon on the east side was small and seemed to be far away unlike yesterday's appearance. Selena could not help but sigh while feeling depressed within her heart.

"I don't feel the connection between me and the moon anymore," said Selena. "The future me should have no choice but to do it. I really don't understand the existence behind the arrival of Dimensional gates on Earth. How could they affect the Goddess who had already transcended to a Godhood? Are there higher stages aside from the Godhood, which was supposed to be the peak?"

Selena continued contemplating it before she shook her head and heaved a heavy sigh.

"I don't understand. The future me sealed or probably erased the information on my memories regarding Immortality and Godhood. I didn't even know any more of how to transcend from this mortal state."

She shook her head and decided to forget about it. She then realized how cultivating her powers might help her ascend to break the limits of mortality.

"Thankfully, the future me did not seal or erase this. If she did, I might have committed suicide." Selena giggled while feeling amused.

She took a lotus position, and the area he sat was where the moonlight shone through the large wall cracks, as her body from head to toe basked by the moonlight. She closed her eyes and took a huge deep breath as she readied herself for something.

A moment later, she breathed in and breathed out harmoniously in the same rhythm and coordination. Her facial expression was carefree, as though she was not conscious about her surroundings anymore, while her chest rose and fell according to her breathing rhythm. The moonlight surrounding her, there were small pecks of milky white kept appearing while circling Selena.

It did not long before they were devoured by Selena's nostril, but it came without their own volition either. Although they appeared to be existence without sentience, they acted like a child.

The child was always attracted by something they were fond of, and it was similar to how the small pecks of white light were attracted by Selena and entered through her nostrils. Selena, who devoured them, had her face calm and soothing. Furthermore, the more milky white specks of light she devoured, the more she felt she was invigorated.

It continued for an hour before the broken door creaked, and a figure walked inside. However, it did not stop Selena from basking in the moonlight and ignoring Draven, who entered with some of his flesh gone as bones were only left. If only Selena takes a glimpse of Draven's appearance, she might faint from the sudden scare. She was unaware that Draven was an undead.

Draven grumbled as soon as he entered inside and said in displeasure, "Tsk! I waste so much time trying to escape from that prison. I also waste much time trying to conceal these bones so as not to gain the attraction of the public. Really! I have to sin by stealing something!"

Draven was packed with clothes and jackets earlier. The only body part that had been corroded was his knee through his toe. However, his hands too were corroded, so he wore gloves for winter. Now that he takes out some clothes, causing some of his bones to be exposed, he was about to ask for some solution to Selena when he caught Selena doing something.

He hesitated of interrupting her. He had something on his mind that since Selena became a mortal, he could have forced her into his submission. However, it was still not guaranteed that Selena could surpass him in a matter of time.

After all, Selena was a Goddess before she became a mortal. It was like a God reincarnated as the body of the baby, but with his talent and experience of being a God despite his lost memories of it. It was only a matter of time before he became a God once again.

Draven was afraid to gain Selena's negative impression of him since he made a promise together with the Goddess Selena. Although, he believed that promise was only words made by two parties, as it could be broken at any time. However, he made a promise to the Goddess, not unlike other people who could not bend the laws of the universe.

"What will happen if I broke the promise with her? Who knows, maybe the Goddess placed a punishment on me without my understanding and might become something that will hinder me from my goals." Draven wondered before he decided to wait for the Goddess to finish.

Draven scrutinized the Goddess for a while and realized that he had nothing to do. He decided to imitate the Goddess. For some strange reason, he felt the need to compel of copying the Goddess's activity.

He surveyed his unclean room and looked for a place where the moonlight shone brightly, enough to cover his body. Once he found the area, he strolled over and sat in a lotus position.

While he sat in a lotus position, he watched the Goddess once more. The Goddess made respiration with a strange breathing rhythm, but he felt it was harmonious and soothing.

Once Draven memorized the rhythm, he closed his eyes and readied to imitate it. Draven enforced the breathing technique once he was ready. However, he was attacked by waves of torment in his lungs, and Draven immediately halted the respiration while comforting the pain in his lungs as he laid the ground.

While Draven's eyelids twitched from pain, he caught Selena's smirk in his vision. Although Selena's eyes were still closed while her breathing rhythm was still the same as before, Draven could feel the mocking sneer Selena directed towards him as he convulsed on the ground.
