Chapter 2

Davu's group training went on for two months before going on hiatus. "I'll let you train Genesis solo while you're back. I know he has missed you and plus, a break from his normal training would be nice for him." Remla took this month to reevaluate Genesis' training and get ahead on other projects.

"I'm proud of you Gen. I see you've been training hard."

"Thanks Davu!! I can't wait to perform in the show-and-tell and fight in the tournament."

Genesis flexes. "I'm going to be unstoppable!!"

Davu laughs and high fives Genesis. They finish up their cool down stretches and walk back to their house. "Oh, remember I'm starting back with my group training tonight so it will be you and dad again." Genesis, to Davu's surprise, was actually happy. He looks up at his brother with a determined look.

"When you come back I'm going to be better and I want you to show me your magic ability."

'I wasn't expecting that response. He's grown fast in three months and all he needed was encouragement.'

"I believe you. I'm excited to see your progress." Genesis doesn't reply. They make it back home and as Genesis walks upstairs he stops and looks at Davu with the same look as before.

"Davu, you didn't respond to what I said. Will you show me your ability next time we spar?"

Davu sits down and sighs as he holds up a metal ball. "Yeah sure, here's a hint." He throws it at Genesis but after he caught it he looked and it was flat with 'G' engraved into it. Genesis stands there looking in awe and walks upstairs to take a shower.

"I'll be ready," Genesis yells down at Davu and shuts the door.

'How did he do that?' Genesis stays up all night thinking. Confused and awestruck at the same time. 'Will he really show me? How does he use it to fight? How well would I fight with him?' All these questions had Genesis' mind racing and heart pumping with excitement. He hears a door open and close. 'Is that Davu? He must be going to his training... Who else there has amazing powers like Davu? How old are they? What do they do? Are they stronger than him?'

"Stop, stop, stop. I gotta wake up for training tomorrow." Genesis rolls over trying to go to sleep but now all he can focus on is Davu moving around. 'I noticed a lot more scars on him when he started going. Do they go into dark zones? I want to see one so bad.' He gets up and looks out his window. Davu is warming up getting ready to jog to his group training. Genesis looks across the room and puts the engraved metal piece in his pocket. 'Okay, I should be able to stay invisible long enough.' Genesis, in a hurry, gets dressed ready to follow his brother. I have two hours. 'That should give me enough time to snoop and be back to get enough sleep.'

Everything looked the same, but it all felt different. The suns were dim, the moon shines a beautiful purple and the waters are calm. Genesis saw everything as if it was his first time seeing it and then his heart started pounding. 'This is my first night ever being out by myself.' Remla and Davu trained Genesis well. Even though he was nervous he was still able to regulate his breathing and stay invisible. Genesis stood there for a second gazing at the moon before tailing his brother. Davu finally gets to The Family facility. Outside, at the door, stood two menacing creatures. They look like wolves with eagle-like wings to match. They growl and run straight at Davu. They tackle him and they begin to play but then they stop and growl toward the open field. 'Noo! Calm down... calm down.' Genesis trying to catch his breath is freaking out going in and out of invisibility. Davu lets the two creatures walk over there but Genesis moved as soon as they growled. Davu laughs, "You guys must be messing with me." Davu walks into the building and the two creatures immediately go back to their posts.

'I don't know what's behind those walls so I can't risk going around somewhere else. I have to go through the door but if I don't activate this right I'm going to die.' Genesis' rapid growth leads to Remla revealing to him another ability he possesses. Genesis gets up and walks over toward the door. As he gets closer he hears the beasts' monstrous breathing. He keeps his composure and continues to walk past them trying not to look at them. As he gets to the door he takes a deep inhale and a slow exhale as he walks straight through the door. 'Dang it! I didn't do it right.' Genesis changed his density while he was invisible but behind him is a trail of purple dust.

"I'm not exactly sure what this stuff is but your goal is to leave no trace. You're still learning so don't be too hard on yourself if it takes long to master." Genesis remembers the words of his father as he tries to push the dust out of sight. 'This is pointless. I gotta-'

"Okay great, Davu you are right on time. You and your familiar are up next."

"Da-?" Genesis stopped himself and frantically looked around. 'I forgot where I was for a second.' Genesis runs over to where he heard the voice to find Davu and a few others in a lab.

'Wait, did he say familiar?' Genesis sits on the floor outside the lab and deactivates his ability to catch his breath. Davu is strapped down to a table and there is a man sitting beside him with a needle. Davu braces himself as he clenches down on a mouth guard. "Alright Davu, let's get started." Electricity shoots out of the needle as the man applies it to Davu's skin. Genesis is still catching his breath as he hears and sees the light coming from the lab. He stands up, turns invisible and walks in the lab.

"DAVUU!" Genesis immediately became visible and ran to his brother. Everyone looked at him but before anyone could react Davu's familiar charged at Genesis.

"MMMM MMMM," Davu spits his mouth guard out. "ONYX STOP. Come on, take these straps off. ONYX, ONYX STOP." But it's too late. Onyx can't hear Davu's tired and faint voice over the sound of the electricity. Genesis' instincts kick in. He runs around the lab phasing through equipment before going through a wall. Onyx clawed him a few times on his back right as he was activating his ability. Onyx is quick though. Genesis has no time to recover as he sees the beast make a sharp turn coming out the lab straight for him.

"DAVU HELP I CAN'T USE MAGIC ANYMORE!! I-" It went silent as the man with the needle released his ability. Davu got out of the chair and was running out of the lab but Onyx met him at the entrance. He looks down the hall. 'There's barely any blood. Where is his body?' Davu stands there for a second and starts running. "I have to go home!"

"D-Davu," Genesis groaned as he woke up in a white void. "Genesis... Genesis" a voice calls out from within the void. Genesis, too exhausted to stand up, gets on his hands and knees to turn around. "Dad?... DAD WHERE ARE W-." Genesis stands up too quickly, realizing how injured and exhausted he is.

"Genesis calm down. I'm not Remla and we are at your new home." Genesis, gaining more of his bearings, looks around again. Shoes, clothes, plants, weapons and other items are floating within the void. 'Are we dead?' Genesis looks down at his arms and feels the wounds on his back. 'Could I feel this much pain after dying?'

"What do you mean Dad, this isn't... anything."

"I was created by Remla, who once lived here. I am Luvon, an artificial intelligent life form your father made. I am programmed with limited knowledge and wisdom to aid you in remembering your past. Also, I have potential insights toward your future objectives if you so wish."

Genesis lies down. Physical pain coupled with confusion is draining him. Genesis starts to feel nauseous and dizzy as the endless space starts to overwhelm him, so he covers his eyes.

"Why did he create you?"

"Your life and independence was in danger. Now that you are safe, by order of your father I can now tell you what led to this moment. But first, how did you get here?"

"What do you mean? Aren't you supposed to know? I was being chased, almost died and then woke up here."

"I was not programmed to know that. You are actually here earlier than your father intended. To my knowledge he was going to bring you here himself but it's fine he prepared me for-"

"IT'S NOT FINE! WHERE IS MY DAD? WHAT HAPPENED TO DAVU! WHERE AM-"

Genesis passes out again and Luvon proceeds to heal him.

"Not the best first impression Genesis."
